Some of you may remember this guy as 10konthebay. He blew WAY past that original goal. He has a new series on youtube where he started a new store from scratch separate from his main store to show new people how to build. The way he shows complete transparency on his process and store is pretty neat. I recommend you give it a watch.

Yeah, Chris is one of the few YouTube “Gurus” I can watch without feeling like I’m wasting time….

(This is a comment on YT videos in general, not about this video) You can mute them. switch the auto-generated subtitles on and play back at 2X speed and read the video. The auto-generated subtitles have got a lot better.

MyCottage- unfortunately the adverts still play at normal speed! But the advertisers for the most part seem to be cutting their spots down to 15 seconds.

Maybe 2X was a little too fast 🙂 Good video.

really great video. I had no idea about some of the performance metrics he talked about.

I remember this guy. Its cool that he’s still cranking.
If I remember correctly, he moved from selling scavenged items to selling wholesale/new items because that was the only way he’d get volume. True?
And does he sell a “system” for new sellers? Or is he just making the vides for fun?

He’s strictly used items, almost all clothes. His ASP is like $30 shipped. He is grinding HARD with a goal of like 170 sales a day. It’s all about efficiency. He tracks his listing times and drives each step to the most efficient time.
He pushes something he calls “reseller nirvana” to the subscribers of his patreon stuff. He defines reseller nirvana of having a balance of listing 10 items a day and selling 10 items a day. The paid membership is basically an accountability system with coaching – I assume it is much like this group. Totally unneccessary and he doesn’t use his youtube channel as a glorified advert for the group like other people do.
He’s strictly fast nickel versus most of us going slow dime. That’s WAY too much of a grind for my tastes in my current lifestyle. I couldn’t imagine shipping 100+ items a DAY!!!
Some of those youtube yard sale gopro style resellers really are funny to me. It’s fun to watch them shop, but they always overpay for fear of being beat up in comments for being “cheap”. Then when they share their sold stats their sales prices are LOW and include shipping. I’m like “what are you doing dude? You made $2 on that item after shipping/fees and put in all that work!”

He’s been doing this for 3-5 years now, right? His stamina is incredible. That’s a GRIND.
So he’s grossing $5k a day on eBay sales? That’d be $150k/month. Do you think he has big overhead of employees, storage etc?
What is he doing with that kind of cash? It doesnt sound like he’d have time to spend it

I honestly don’t know why he pushes so hard. I assume he is trying to be like Mr Money moustache and get to the point of retirement in a few years.

Do you think he’s pulling in the numbers that I posted? ($5k a day on eBay sales? That’d be $150k/month)
Not sure if he has a bunch of employees or overhead costs.

I checked solds on his ebay store “daily refinement”
He has like 26000 listings, but only showing 46 solds in 90 days??
His partner technsports has 511 solds with a 34000 item store.
In contrast, I have 244 sales that show up on my solds page on a 1534 item store.
So I don’t know what is up with the solds page, but here is a video he did where he live streams his awaiting shipments page. It would be quite difficult to fake that.
I think his net profit is somewhere just over 100k.

You think he pulls in $100k a month after expenses? If true, that’s incredible profit. It’d be very easy to retire early after just a year if you live modestly.

No, a year ago he had a video that basically said he pulled in $100k+ net a year. His store is bigger now.
But if he does really have $4k gross sales a day and assume 25% net profit after all expenses then that is $365k a year.

I just learned that you can hide sold listings via an “Out of Stock” option. And yes, every single comment/video I found on it said they were doing it to hide their solds from competition. The items that show up in his solds are quantity listings.

So does this mean that hides results from general search filtered on solds, or just when filtering to a specific store?

I think so, but haven’t checked myself. My understanding is that after the quantity of a listing drops to 0, the listing goes into a kind of “limbo” until the quantity is upped again, in which case the solds will show up in the sold results again. For one-off items (like most of us sell,) the quantity will never get upped, so they’ll never show.
