Ahoy there, I can’t seem to identify this hallmark. It’s marked “Denmark” on the bottom so I assume it’s made for export because it’s not spelled “Danmark” and it has a 110v plug.
I’d date it in the 1960s because of the non-polarized plug and the ceramic parts in the socket.
Anyone know this maker’s mark?

Definitely vintage. Dont know the mark. Does it feel quality? In the 1970s there were a lot of knock-off Danish Modern pieces produced in the USA.

Yes, it is hefty ceramic and the electrics seem to be of quality. The non-rotary switch is what drew my eye, and it’s consistent with others from the 60s. I would think the “Denmark” stamp on the bottom would mean it was made in Denmark proper, but for export.

Might be a stylised version of the Bing and Grøndahl mark.

Hmm, I chased that but I don’t think that’s it. However it might be somewhere in that Royal Copenhagen diaspora, so thank you for the tip!

My first impression is it’s a random design motif. The maker’s logo might be the first thing we think of today but it used to be considered gauche to put it front and center like that. I’ve never seen any Danish pottery with the maker’s mark like that, and the older it is, I think the more unlikely it is. The maker’s logo would be on the base, if anywhere.
But it also occurred to me that it might be a college logo, since alumni associations will sell things like this to put on your desk. It vaguely resembles Indiana University’s logo, for example. It’s definitely not Indiana, but if you can make out the letters you might find something. Or a fraternity. I’m getting a “U” and “II” but it’s hard for me to tell from the photo.

Interesting take, good point about the logo-on-the outside issue. I think the “branding on the outside” started with Jordache jeans lol. I get a “T” and a “U” in an oval. Tau Upsilon? I will see where that leads me, thanks for the prompt!

I’ve come across the occasional vase, mug or pot from (presumably) some of the smaller potteries with an impressed logo on the face. If the ‘Denmark’ is rubber-stamped then that might be a possibility- the stamp being put on by an importer, like Dee Cee did with German pottery.

The “Denmark” stamp is impressed into the clay on the bottom, I shoulda included that info. The logo or whatever it is is actually raised, which is interesting. From looking at comparables, I don’t think this is like a “holy grail” piece, unfortunately. With the chip and repair I probably can’t be too precious with the pricing.

Might be worth making a drawing of the logo- it looks to me like a candelabra with a couple of candles and their flames, or an anchor with two flukes.

I was wondering if I might be looking at the positive space and ignoring the negative. Maybe I’ll make a rubbing and try to use Google Lens on that.
