Hey everyone,
I finally hired someone to list for me as I really hate listing clothing (I don’t mind listing smalls and things) but I find clothing to be tedious and monotonous. Currently I drop off clothing with my assistant and then pick them up within a week. She steams, writes product descriptions, and photographs and then inputs them into pre-filled profiles in ink frog. My question is- should I just list all the items at once or is there any benefit to list ten at a time so items are listed daily?
Thanks in advance,
Suzy -

What do you mean – she “steams”?

Her helper probably steams the clothes so they are wrinkle free.
Suzy, congrats on getting help. There are rumors that listing every day somehow helps your ranking. But I personally think its just best to get items listed whenever you can do it. The most important thing are that the items are up and available for sale.
How many items can she handle in a week? How much are you paying her?

i think she means she uses a clothing steamer (as opposed to an iron) to unwrinkle items.

Sometimes I list consistently and things sell. Sometimes I list consistently and they don’t. I don’t think any one has a definitive answer to this.
It’s one of those ebay theories that can’t hurt though. If you list everday, that’s more items for sale. It’s just a way that we feel like we have any kind of control when it’s slow.
In your case, just do what works with your schedule,

You can’t sell if an item is not listed. The only time I would space listings out is if I would be flood the market with a specific item. Otherwise, just try to meet a weekly goal. It’ll help keep your sanity.

this x 1,000,000.
I think its a waste of time and energy to try to outsmart the Cassini, eBAy’s search engine. Just list items as quick as you can. Fill the pipeline and let the market figure it out.

I go with the theory that it’s better to list every day. You could schedule them for ten cents a piece to list some every day. For me when I don’t list my sales go down. I think it triggers something. Could be wrong but I try to do it that way.

Thanks for the input everyone. Jay- I’m currently paying her $2 per item and giving her about 40 items a week. This is just extra $ for her as she has a day job. My initial goal was to give her double that weekly but it’s been difficult to find clothing (as I do the other things myself) for a reasonable price here in NYC that are of the quality that I need.
I was able to purchase about 20 items during a President’s Day sale at one of the local Goodwills but that’s not enough. I don’t understand how people that go to the local Goodwill Outlet here in Long Island City do well there- I have gone on occasion but it’s difficult to find quality items in large quantities. I don’t know how others do it but I walked out with only 3 items after digging for hours. I don’t bother buying just so-so clothing anymore as I find it takes too long to sell and space is at a premium (I recently discussed moving all of my inventory into a storage unit near my apt).Suzy

Some days I list a lot anddome days I don’t list any, both days I sell stuff. I agree with Jay it isn’t worth the time trying to figure out the algorithm. List what you can when you can and let the buyers find you.
