Instead of jumping from a 1,000 item Premium store right up to a 10,000 item Anchor store, maybe have more tiers or levels of stores for Sellers in between the 1,000 Item Premium Store and the 10,000 Anchor store. Maybe a 2,500 – 5,000 – 7,500 then comes the 10,000 item anchor store.
Graduate the benefits for each tier such as a Quarterly Discount Coupon that goes up incrementally by a given amount with each tier a seller upgrades to.
I am going to be at the 1,000 item mark in 6 to 8 weeks then we will have to start paying per listing. That will make me to probably start culling out some of the cheaper items and yard selling them off to make room for better quality, more expensive stuff. I would love to be able to jump up to a 2,500 item store at that point.Mike at MDC Galleries in Atlanta

I completely agree Mike. I had planned on making the transition to the 2500 store, when I hit 1500 listings. Paying 10 cents a listing per month, really makes you think twice about listing certain items.

So Cal Joe: I hate to dash your hopes and dreams, but your “planned” store upgrade “I had planned on making the transition to the 2500 store, when I hit 1500 listings. Paying 10 cents a listing per month, really makes you think twice about listing certain items” does not exist, which is the point of this topic.
There is NOT a 2500 item store, if I understand your comment correctly, for you to transition to. There is a Premium store at 1,000 then the only place for you to go as far as a “transition” is to an “Anchor” store level at 10,000 and from $75 per month cost to $350 cost per month.
So if you are looking for a 2,500 item store to move up to when you get to 1,500 items, it doesn’t exist. That is unless you are in another country other than the USA and you do have several other tiers that we don’t have here in the USA.

I agree with this as well. I know it has been suggested to ebay before, but so far they haven’t acted on the suggestions. Maybe this will be the year!

Yeah, its crazy that the store levels are from Premium at 1000 listings for $59.99 to 10,000 listings at $399.99. http://pages.ebay.com/seller-center/stores/subscriptions.html
There needs to be a level or two in between.

I still think it’s nuts that they cap anchor stores at 10,000 listings for the amount being paid. It should be at least 15,000-20,000 listings for anchor stores. There also needs to be a store level beyond anchor store. Anchor Store Plus. If you are willing to pay $350-400 a month for a store level above anchor store, that should be unlimited listings.
Anchor stores in Australia are currently $370 USD a month and provide unlimited listings.

At some point, I hope that its just free to list. Then they make money when items sell.
It’s like when phone companies used to charge for long distance calls.
Technology has made phone calls internationally free.
Similarly, I feel that its silly that eBay charges to list an item since its not really costing them anything.

Considering the amount of money they’re getting from us anchor store suckers, I doubt it will go free at any point. Maybe in 5-10 years they’ll come to their senses and make it unlimited $40 a month to compete with Amazon, but I doubt it will even get to that point.

True. eBay won’t voluntarily get rid of subscription fees, but all the competition from multiple other sites is growing. Its free to list most other places.

I’d also love a store level in between the 1000 and 10,000 item levels. I’m in that void now and makes me re-think whether I want to continue listing and paying those insertion fees.

I completely agree and would love another store level. I currently have 1730 listings so I am paying for 730 listings at 10 cents a piece since the first 1000 are free. This totals $73, add $60 for my store fee = $133 a month just to list. I think about it this way… an anchor store is $300 but I am saving $167 a month by not upgrading. And whats the point since I dont have enough listings to justify it. Since I dont care about the perks of an anchor store I will wait it out until I reach 3400 listings at which point it will make sense to pay for the anchor store since the total listing/store fees will be $300.
