Has anyone ever tried to challenge one of these USPS cost adjustments? What’s the process? I just got an adjustment for one I shipped weeks ago and the difference in weight they’re giving me is insane.

I’ve challenged every one of the 5 that we’ve received and been refunded each time.
I called the USPS number that is listed on the notification and was told that there was a glitch. They took the information about the shipment and within 7 days, a refund shows up. It took about 5 minutes each time.
I would’nt have known that I didn’t just make a mistake in shipping, except the first time I was overcharged, the item was returned in the original packaging. That one, they said I shipped USPS Priority, but printed a label for USPS Priority Regional Rate A. Well, guess what?? It came back in the Reg Rate A that it shipped out in. I called, and they refunded the $12.
Even though they admitted (each time) that it was a glitch, and they knew the dates affected, they were only refunding those that called. Makes you wonder how many didn’t call to claim their money, doesn’t it?

I also got a cost adjustment saying I used the Regional Rate B box but only paid for the Regional Rate A box. I sent them a message saying that I have never used the regional box B box and that I wanted proof. They were not able to provide any evidence and eventually refunded me. It took about a month for them to respond.

Am I the only person who got a cost adjustment in my favor?
Didn’t dispute that one 🙂 -

I’ve only ever had one cost adjustment, and it was in my favor.
I had charged the customer for the higher weight, and the weight came in just a few tenths of an ounce less. I decided to just go with the higher weight. But, no, the PO refunded me a dollar or two.
Yeh, I didn’t dispute it.

Mine was actually an incorrect cost adjustment. It said that I had used a small flat rate box (which I have actually never used) instead of the larger non-flat-rate priority box. So I think I got 3 or 4 dollars back.

Interesting conversation. I got the “You used a Regional B, but paid for a Regional A” adjustment. I thought it was weird that I could make such a dumb mistake. I’ll have to decide if it’s worth my time to call.
The only other adjustment I’ve had was in my favor (I overpaid a dollar or two apparently). n

Follow their normal dispute process and if they rule against you file a PayPal case against them. Worked for me multiple times.

So these charges originate from eBay USPS shipping if the seller makes an error or if USPS has a glitch.
I’m not aware of any yet on my account. How do they inform you about an adjustment, Do you get an email from eBay or Paypal about the new charges?

Well I got one today. I shipped a cross stitch kit that weighed 4 oz. It was a sheet of paper some floss and the cloth. Yeah. Anyway they claim it weighed one pound five ounces and charged me an extra 5.74. I will be making a call on Monday. 🙂
