I ship all my packages from a small hole in the wall post office that is really close to my house. The problem is, it’s in the next town over and has a different zip code.
The clerk at the post office pointed out to me today that my labels no longer had their zip code in the “shipping from” spot, the zip code is listed as the same one as my return address. They are a little cranky because they think they are not getting “credit” for the package (which, I’m not sure is true. My guess is the intake scan gives them the “credit” but I can’t find any documentation to back that up. )
For as long as I can remember, when printing out ebay postage, you could have a different ship from zip code than the one on your return address. It’s still part of the shipping label but for the life of me I can’t figure out how to modify.

I do believe that the USPS monitors the revenue of each post office, that is what my previous postmaster told me. Where is can come in to play is when closures are being considered and I’m sure any small post office is very concerned about that.
I don’t know about changing the zip in eBay shipping, but you might want to think about getting a small PO Box at the post office you ship from and use that as your business address. Not only does it make sure they get the credit it also masks your physical location from buyers.

They definitely monitor the revenue of each post office, just as any business would. I’m trying to figure out how they do it.
Ebay says they got rid of the “from” zip code modification on the print label page and it had nothing to do with getting a specific post office a “credit”
The woman at my post office said she “heard” that “maybe” it had something with them getting a credit.
Ebay also said the format changed a year ago. So, if my 2500 packages in the last year were not credited to my post office, their numbers would have dropped off a cliff. I’m guessing that would have been noticed
I’ll try the postmaster tomorrow

Sounds like you live in a rural area? Before we moved to our current house, we shipped from a tiny Post Office. Like you, we liked to use them even though our home was a different address.
They asked us to make sure they got credit because USPS was always looking to close unprofitable locations. I believe them. Why not just put their zip that “shipping from”. Your address can still be the return address.
Talk to the Post Master and see what’s best.

The area they serve doesn’t have USPS home delivery. Maintaining the PO boxes does give them an edge and unlikely they would be closed.
It’s a great post office, In 20 years, i’ve never had an issue and I want them to get all the credit for everything I send through there.
I wish I could just put their zip code in “shipping from” part of the ebay label like I did for years, that’s the whole issue. It’s locked into my home zip code on my return address and ebay removed the ability to change it.
My options seem to be , change my return address to the post office address or get a PO box..which, the more I think about it, might be the way I go… Whatever it costs would be worth not having to deal with my towns post office

You still can. Here’s how:
Hover over your name in upper left corner and choose “Account Settings”>Under “Personal Info” click “Addresses”>Under “Addresses” click the “Ship From Address” “Edit” button then scroll to the bottom and click “Add Another Address” and fill out the info for any PO you want.
Once done, go to print shipping label page and you should have the choice to click “Edit” to change the Ship From zip.

Worked like a charm. That was one of the first things I tried but didn’t do the final “edit” click so it wasn’t coming up
Thank you
