3.75″ tall, top opening is 2.5″ wide. An egg fits perfectly on the bottom opening, but that seems wrong.

It appears there can be a size variance, at least according to this description from an Amazon brand. They offer a smaller size to hold eggs still in the shell & a larger size they call a “double egg cup” for garnishing & seasoning a shelled egg.

Tressemanes & Vogt, Limoges 1892-1907
“As Tressemanes & Vogt, they made high quality whiteware for export to the USA; distributed no doubt, through their New York office. ”
Were Fin de Siècle eggs bigger than their modern-day descendants?

You could measure the volume in cubic centimetres- they might be jiggers (which term I’d never heard of until now.) Some figure like 25cc or 33cc might indicate they’re used for measuring.

Way too big for an egg. They are just cups.

Retro, they don’t “do” egg cups in the States. 😀
I had get mine especially sent over from the UK. I had a breakfast event here, and nobody had a clue what to do with the breakfast! When I pull out my egg cups, I have to demonstrate how to eat a breakfast of boiled eggs and soldiers. It reminds me of that scene in Tarzan… LOL

Any time I see a person use an egg cup in a movie I instantly think “that person is a psycho serial killer”.
Lol!

Slices top off egg with sharp knife, dips rectangle of pasty-white “Mother’s Pride” bread into barely-congealed egg yolk. Eats. Close-up of egg yolk dribbling down chin, transition to scene in dark alley with blood running down wall.
Anyway. Goose or seagull (murre) egg.

I see the dry British humour (slightly grisly) is alive and well! 😀
Which reminds me: my order of British bacon is in. I get to collect it tomorrow!

I hope it’s dry-cured; a lot of British supermarket bacon oozes nasty white foam when it’s fried.

I came across four of these large cups in a charity shop on Sunday- different designs so maybe someone’s collection. One of them had the crest and legend of a school in Nova Scotia, with the maker’s mark in the smaller end. So most likely big egg cups, for Canadians to put their big eggs in.
