This morning I started listing on Mercari and I love it! Super fast listing format and very streamlined compared to Ebay. For now, I’m starting with my daughter’s clothes in an in demand brand, which were originally free to me as hand me downs.
I like the idea of listing vintage weighing over a pound because the shipping rates they pass on are excellent and I have a lot of that in the piles. (I believe Ebay is keeping most of the discount they negotiate with USPS.) Also because if you search in Google Shopping right now, you might find that Mercari is getting manyo of the top hits, then Etsy, then Ebay way down. I just ran a search for a Pyrex pattern on my phone and Ebay didn’t show until the 5th page!
What types of items are you selling? Have you had any items rejected by buyers? I hear Mercari doesn’t have much in the way of support when there is an issue, so I won’t be listing anything I need to pay much for or any higher value vintage items. Also will consider what appeals to younger buyers potentially. Glad to hear anyone’s input.

I’ve heard people mention Mecari. Great that its easy to list.
The bigger question I have is what kind of sales people are having, and if the sales are consistent.

I’ve also started to research Mercari. They are apparently just now ramping up in the US.
They also are flush with cash:
https://www.wsj.com/articles/flea-market-app-mercari-soars-in-tokyo-debut-1529389761Interesting…ebay is struggling and making major changes while this hot new (to the US at least) company is debuting an IPO on the Tokyo stock exchange and staffing up in the US.
This weekend I’m going to list 10 things on Mercari just to see how things work out.

Well, it’s interesting because you have less buyers going directly to the site but if buyers find your listing via Google shopping, you also have less competition / similar items for sale once they are in there. Also it’s less cluttered and they show your other available items right below. I don’t know how to bundle yet, but apparently it’s possible.
I think Mercari is only right for certain items, not everything I would list on Ebay. You can also easily browse what’s recently sold. Looks like a lot of toys, video games, clothing and shoes, Rae Dunn dishes, but some vintage too.
On the downside, I bought something with the welcome coupon they gave me and the seller canceled for out of stock. š I saw photos of people’s toes and household crap in the background. It’s pretty raw. Time is such a big factor for me, so it’s intriguing.

There’s a lot of these new selling platforms popping up: letgo, offer up, etc. It’s relatively easy to technically build a site that lets people make sell items. The easier it is to list, the more “raw” the listings will be ebcause the bar is so low.
Those of us who have been around the last ten years know the many of these sites have come…and gone. This is why it’ll be interesting to see if it has any traction. Cant hurt to try.
As much as eBay has its issues, I’ve never found a site that had such consistent sales.

Ouch – that’s harsh! I tend to price high, so fingers crossed that I don’t follow you out.

I have heard resellers using Mecari to unload lots of bulk clothing to other resellers.
