eBay has a new program called “eBay Send”, and it looks like either an alternative or replacement for the GSP. Perhaps this new program will be rolled out to Managed Payments since, for whatever reason, the GSP doesn’t work there?
Anybody know anything about it?

Never heard if it before. Has anyone heard if eBay was getting rid of Global Shipping Program.

from what it’s saying on that page, it’s basically a USPS label?
After your item sells, select the “eBay Send International Standard” option when you print a shipping label with eBay Labels for buyers in destinations outside the US. Drop off your package at any US post office or schedule a pickup.

Maybe the value-add over direct international shipping is the guarantee:
Each purchase of the eBay Send International Standard service includes our shipping protection plan. You can be assured that your international shipments will arrive at their destinations, or we will protect you if there is an issue that is beyond your control.

It sounds like an alternative to USPS International, not an alternative to GSP.
When do I use eBay Send?
If you ship to international buyers directly (not using eBay’s Global Shipping Program), you can select the eBay Send option as an economical choice to deliver your product. You can take the package to any USPS drop off location, or arrange a regular USPS package pickup. Tracking will be automatically uploaded on eBay and tracked to the final destination. -

sounds like ebay is hearing that GSP is too pricey. i’ve heard that from buyers several times, but i like the protection GSP provides in terms of tracking and possible damage.

Hmm. Doesn’t start until 1/1/2020. It actually appears to be a hybrid, a little GSP and a little not.
The shipping mechanics are like GSP where the seller ships to a US hub, which forwards the package:
“eBay Send International Standard uses USPS’s domestic service to transport items to eBay’s trusted warehouse partners. Our partners screen packages and then forward them to your international buyers around the world. You and your buyers can track the entire transaction via eBay.com.”The international freight shipping legal framework (the contract terms) is like shipping direct. GSP now is INCOTERMS DDP, meaning Delivery Duties Paid. The buyer prepays all duties and taxes at checkout. Shipping direct now is INCOTERMS DDU, meaning Delivery Duties Unpaid, where all duties and taxes are paid upon delivery. eBay Send will be INCOTERMS DDU, like shipping direct is now.
Another “difference” is that “eBay Send International Standard gives you full control of what you want to charge buyers for shipping (Free, Flat, Calculated) from end to end.” Since I don’t use GSP, I don’t know what that means. I guess with GSP you can’t offer free or flat rate shipping?
Simon’s point about the guarantee seems to be an advantage over simply shipping direct, especially for smaller First Class International packages for which there is no USPS insurance (but it can be purchased inexpensively through Shipsaver and others).
As to whether it’s cheaper than GSP, it’s not clear to me yet whether the buyer pays an additional shipping charge above what the seller sees in that rate chart.
I wonder whether under eBay Send the seller will fill out the customs form like shipping direct now, or eBay’s “trusted warehouse partners” will fill out the customs form like GSP does now. One of my problems with GSP now is that I have no control over the item description for customs classification purposes. It gets to KY and they look at the item listing or open the package and if they can’t figure it out or they think it’s a restricted item they refund everybody and sell the item to guys like this to resell on eBay:
https://www.ebay.com/sch/8ten1944/m.html?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEFSXS%3AMESOI&_trksid=p2053788.m1543.l2654 Which I guess isn’t too bad, but the foreign buyer gets mad and the system is probably very costly for someone, either eBay or Pitney Bowes. I prefer to write my own customs forms and my stuff always sails through foreign customs. -

One more thing. The Shipping Protection Plan has a $100 cap.

I didn’t have time to read through the description when I posted the link. I saw it posted to a Facebook group that I just joined and thought I’d pass it along.
Temudgin – You are correct in that the seller does not see the import fees or the shipping from eBay’s Kentucky warehouse to the international destination.
I wonder, with eBay Send, if there will be many warehouses rather than one in the middle of the country. That might help with speed and cost.
Makes more sense that it doesn’t start until the beginning of next year. I don’t remember hearing anything about a new shipping program either online or at NY Upfront two weeks ago.

I am “opted in” to the new Send Program. Got an email from eBay saying “you are in”. Have had to stumble in the dark to learn about the program as is so new. I am in managed payments, so perhaps that is why I was selected. Send is an option when I go to print label. I did not have to do any edits. Prices less than first class, so I am banking the difference (shipping policy is calculated first class). Have shipped one to KY, and we shall see. Sold a second and will try to grab a screen shot when I print label. Looks good thus far.
