Amazon now blocking [gatekeeping] used books

I just received 8 emails from Amazon that they are now gatekeeping 8 different publishers.  One of them is MIRA who is an imprint of Harelquin books.  I’ve been expecting this for some time once they starting gatekeeping toys and movies.   I sure am glad that I have my book inventory listed on a bunch of different sites now versus solely on Amazon.

That stinks. I know its the FBA nightmare to be locked out of selling certain items arbitrarily.

Why is it in Amazon’s interest to gatekeep items?

I know they started gatekeeping CD’s and DVD’s due to counterfeits.   I’m not sure why they’re now doing books.

One theory on the Amazon Seller Forum is that the bots have confused these book publishers with some music publishers that have similar names.  Guess we’ll find out in a week if the listings disappear or not.  I checked out a couple of my book listings from these publishers and I am now gated from listing them.
