It’s not that I don’t know what I have… I’m just not sure what to do with it.
Also, I want to share because I find these insanely strange.
Helen Ranger paints us a Margaret Keane inspired “Old West dress up time with potty training.” I couldn’t find anything online about the painter. There travel writer in Morocco named Helen Ranger who writes travel guides, but this probably isn’t her. If this is the same person, it’s probably a good thing Helen found another vocation.
I am pretty sure they are not paint-by-numbers because the canvases appear to be store bought. Anyone have thoughts on how to price and on which platform to sell. eBay is my preferred platform, but I think this may fetch a better price on Etsy.

I have scared everyone away.

Yeah, they’re just an example of those tacky amateur paintings we often see at thrift stores. I would have passed on these.
So I don’t understand your question. If you found them compelling, then list! All the long tail items we have usually starts with our own personal attraction to something interesting.
Often the weirdest items are the ones that sell.

I’ve had one or two posts where no one responded. I just assumed that I stumped everyone.
If they are original art and hand painted, then you can get some decent money for them. They are sort of weird, and someone’s going to want them. You could price something like $99 or best offer.

Just wondering if the creepy weird art sells better on Etsy. I guess I’ll just give it shot.

I dont know Etsy well, but I would think that weird sells better on eBay. Etsy seems to be more cool, chic, and fashionable. List in both places 🙂

I wouldn’t have bought these, but that said I’m sure they have their audience/market. I would probably use keywords like “kitsch,” “potty humor,” and the like. Maybe “gag gift”? I can see these being funny for someone getting married, or someone with the right sense of humor who is having boy/girl twins. So, in my opinion, that’s their value. I don’t think these have any value based on materials or artist, so I wouldn’t spend a ton more time trying to pin down their creator (except to ask what she was thinking, and chastise her for inflicting these on the world.)

Definitely not paint by number. You can tell that even without the canvases being store bought. PBN has a very distinctive look (no blending/color gradients, all colors are painted in distinct “cells”).

After reading a new thread about selling amateur paintings on eBay. Â I thought I would revive this post.
These paintings sat in my inventory for 1048 days.
For almost 3 years I adjusted the price and tweaked the listing. Â But the only thing that closed the sale, was waiting for the right person to stumble across it at the right time.
My guess is these are hanging in a funky vintage clothing store or restaurant.

Nice that these finally sold. I can definitely see a restaurant using these for decor for their restrooms.

Congrats on the sale. There are some things I pass on just because I don’t want to look at them in my inventory. LOL. They actually look decently painted though. I’ve seen worse.
