Got these brain teaser puzzles at a rummage sale for 50 cents, sold for $25. I think the draw is that they are marked Compaq Microsoft: https://www.ebay.com/itm/113155042293
This Dragon Alliance belt was only 50 cents at a rummage sale, sold for $37. Took me ages to figure out what the logo is. They are a snowboarding company. https://www.ebay.com/itm/112976039628
Got this copper & wrought iron little cauldron at a yard sale for a buck, sold for $19. It’s pretty cool, maybe should have priced it higher? https://www.ebay.com/itm/113155098714
Reversible silk blouse/shirt from one of those fill-a-bag sales, so less than $1, sold for $17. I hate doing clothes. Much prefer hard goods. https://www.ebay.com/itm/113155098714
Steve – I hope you had an excellent vacation! You deserve it!
Last month, I purchased several vintage Red Cross uniforms in a lot with vintage and antique books. The uniforms sold very quickly. They each came to $1-2. I broke them out into three listings, and they sold for $36, $78, and $69, respectively:
At the same auction, I bought several straw fedora hats. This is the second to sell. Each was $2.50, and this one sold for $30: http://www.ebay.com/itm/183332884811
I was at a yard sale a few weeks ago where the owners were selling off stuff from a restaurant (maybe a failed business venture?). I bought a box with two types of bill presenters. These are single panel ones, paid $2.50, sold for $37 to a restaurant in Texas: http://www.ebay.com/itm/183373900055
I purchased the following two items connected together for about $4 at an auction, but listed them separately. I sold the beer tower for $49 and the tap for $30 to different buyers. I entered the weight of the beer tower incorrectly, so I lost about $8 on it, but still a good sale. http://www.ebay.com/itm/183341306414 http://www.ebay.com/itm/183340649885
Thanks for the tip on the Filson shirt! I’ll have to keep my eyes open for those.
I never pass up on old retro glasses as long as they’re not junk. These Sure-Guard safety glasses came from an estate sale and cost me a couple bucks. They were in almost perfect condition. I priced them high and was surprised when I sold them for full price of $50. Sure-Guard Safety Glasses
I went to an auction of a local pottery maker who got himself in some legal trouble and abandoned his store. There wasn’t much that I was interested in, but I did manage to get some pottery pieces for relatively cheap. I got this little jar with lid for $2.50. I listed it a while ago and forgot about it. Finally sold for $35. I kind of regret selling it now cause I really liked the piece. But oh well. Hand-Thrown Pottery Jar
This is my big sale from last week. I acquired a big box full of drafting and drawing tools and such at an auction for $20. There were a lot of sellable items in it, so each piece came to .60 cents. I knew nothing about this kind of stuff, so it required a lot of research. These K&E lettering pen tips go into specially designed pens. I didn’t have a lot of comps to go by, so I priced them way higher than I expected to sell them for. I ended up taking a best offer of $65. K&E Lettering Pen Tips
This Minute Man metal letter opener almost went to the .25 cent yard sale pile. But I had second thoughts and listed it for $15 free shipping. It took a few months, but it did finally sell. I have no idea where I acquired it from, so I’m going to say I got it for nothing. The Minute Man Metal Letter Opener
I had asked the SL forum for more information about this Sylvania tool kit (thanks MyCottage for your assistance!) While there weren’t very many comps, and the ones that did come up were lower than I expected, I still thought it was unique and desirable enough to be worth more. So I priced it high and it sold within a couple months for $60. Vintage Sylvania TV Repair Kit
Some great sales!
The Surveyors Tripod is interesting since we know many online sellers pass up those longish, kind of heavy/bulky, and difficult to photograph items. About two months ago I picked up four older wooden long bows. I passed them up the first time around when they were priced a firm $10 a piece. The following week they still sat on the venders table, so I low balled at $12 for all and he sold. They sat in my garage awhile until I too got tired of moving them around. Research, photographing and listing was a pain yet I knew some money was to be made.
I sold them last week for a best offer of $189.80 plus shipping to a buyer right here in Florida. The longest was 72 inches so I had to make a box out of three boxes. In the end, glad I picked them up.
Antique Bird Pin Cushion – I picked this up for 50 cents, thinking it would be a cute gift for my mom who is a quilter. But then I looked up and poor Mom lost to eBay. It sold for $125.00! https://www.ebay.com/itm/332652667992
Cassette Tapes – I got these for under $1 at a yard sale and they sold right away to a blank tape reseller for $49.99. Guess they were underpriced! https://www.ebay.com/itm/332776076565
Disneyland Tea Cup and Saucer – I usually NEVER buy things like tea cups (not all all my thing), but this was from Disneyland and only $3, so I bought it. Sold for $49.99. https://www.ebay.com/itm/332688610713
