We spent last week in NYC where we increasingly go to enjoy ourselves. Living in a rural area, we often crave some intense city life to overload our senses. Long walks in different neighborhoods, eating out, getting ideas from everything we’re seeing. When we return home, it’s like being on another kind of vacation in a quiet place surrounded by mountains…that also happens to be where we live.
Anytime we leave home, we get worried about putting our store on eBay’s “Time Away”. Usually sales tend to die off, but this week we had a great week of sales! Nothing better than having 3-4 sales a day.
I remember when people said eBay was dead fifteen years. Then when Amazon FBA started, eBay was definitely going to go away. When Facebook Marketplace stated in 2016, some folks were saying that was what was going to kill eBay. Plus all those little clothing startups (Depop, Poshmark…) were definitely the end. But here we are in 2022 and sales keep coming.
We’re really platform agnostic but have always found eBay to be the best place to sell the kind of stuff we find. A virtual flea market. And as we all grumble when eBay makes drastic changes, it is still a fair place to do business if you don’t sweat the small stuff. No secret to sales: find stuff cheap and always be listing.
The money we make on eBay has served different purposes at different points in our life. We’ve put a lot of years into building up our eBay pipeline and it’s nice to see it keep paying off. Hope you had a good week.
