Seems like I’m the only one posting my sales here. Come on folks! My stuff isn’t all that interesting. We need more here!!!
I wouldn’t have known what this item was except that the original owner had a sticker “Amish bed warmer” on it. It was bought with a bunch of other stuff, so cost about $1 and sold for best offer of $20.
This was mentioned a month or two ago, but you can sell an old, unused calendar by saying when it will repeat again. This Tutankhamun calendar put out by the MET in 1977 will repeat next year. Not a huge sale; just interesting. Paid maybe $0.50, sold for $10.67 on sale.
Set of antique Tiffany plates, in stained condition, sold for best offer of $45. Bought at an auction about two years ago for around $4 as part of a larger purchase.
Just a few hours after I listed three Realistic CB radios, a buyer asked whether I would take $45 for all three. I said that it was too soon for negotiation, and he should contact me in about a month. Less than two weeks later, all three sold to a different buyer at full price (about $63 total). The original buyer sent me a congratulations message, so he was still following them. They were purchased with other vintage electronics, and cost less than $1 each. Here’s the listing for one:
Another commission sale; a Sajen brooch in the shape of a frog. This family friend had a huge collection of these Sajen pins, all in sterling with gems; kind of an expensive hobby. This was probably the most expensive one I’ve sold to date for $139.
I’ve been meaning to post again, really I have …. Here are some sales from a ways back since my last post:
This is a rare version of a 1970’s German military Eickhorn rifle bayonet and scabbard in pristine condition purchased for $70 at a gun show and sold for $225.00 plus shipping.
I was disappointed to discover that big and heavy late 20 century US Naval Academy Lucky Bag yearbooks do not go for much. This 1986 edition went for $36 plus shipping. It was a family item.
Here’s an example of something that I’ve seen sell for more at a flea market than on eBay, there being a “I haven’t seen one of these it’s really cool” price for clad US halves and dollars at the flea and a lower price on eBay set by the collector market. This lot of 20 circulated 1971 Kennedy Half Dollars sold for $23 with free shipping. The older, silver ones sell for much more, of course. These were part of a mostly silver coin horde I inherited a while back.
I used to do well with Cross pen and pencil sets but it seems that ship has sailed. This ‘80’s vintage 10Kt gold filled set has been listed for a couple years and I finally let it go for a best offer of $30 with free shipping. This was a family estate item.
My father kept a small horde of some of my childhood toys that turned up in his estate a while back. It was interesting to see them, though there were some things I recall having as a child that are in high demand today that unfortunately he did not save. This ‘60’s toy military 2 ½ ton cargo truck (aka “deuce-and-a-half” aka “6×6”) made by Tim Mee was among the items he had. Note the authentic dog bite marks on the hood. (About 15 years after playing with this I would have occasion to drive the full size version in the Army. And we got an old one once to blow up for training, too. It took a lot of explosives to do that, they were built so tough.) It sold for $20 plus shipping. A website with the Tim Mee name is still active and selling military playsets online. They reproduced this truck for a while not too long ago but it has been out of stock.
Here’s an item that took a surprising length of time to sell. I paid $30 several years ago which was too much for this vintage military-style tiger stripe camouflage shirt as I finally took a best offer of $48 plus shipping to get it sold which netted me about $10, not counting overhead. It was nothing special; a reproduction pattern probably dating from the ‘70’s or ‘80’s but it did have patches sewn on at some point, indicating perhaps some actual military use.
Thank you Steven, Sharyn and Temudgin for posting your solds. I look forward to this EVERY week. I usually don’t post much of what i’ve sold… usually not very interesting but here are some of my sales from the past week…
This past summer I went to an estate sale on my lunch break and saw that there was a whole barn full to the brim with old metal items… wood boxes full of hardware, casters etc. I realized after I left that I wanted some of the old wooden boxes to make some art with. I went back and left a note in the mailbox asking if i could come back and buy some of these. Months later I got a text. They had just come across my note and invited me to the house and let me fill my car with all sorts of stuff… free… i pulled these vintage picture hangers from a box… sold for $59 to UK buyer.
Last year I posted about having difficulty with a buyer of one of my vtg sealed Pokemon decks. You all gave me great advice and I changed my listing to vintage used, not new. Haven’t had an issue since! I picked up about 40 decks and have been continuously selling them. I sold 2 packs this past week. I raised my price from $40 to $50. I have 21 packs left!
My husband LOVES to spend money on high-end bicycle gear. We have over 25 custom bikes. Anyway, he recently took my old Fat Chance Monster Fat single speed apart (I don’t ride it) and we listed the rare Paul crankset. Sold within hours for $250. Went to Anchorage!
