Steve – I was absolutely loved that Conan the Barbarian movie when it came out. I was a teenager in high school at the time, and I’m sure that the young Arnold had something to do with it.
We were in PA this summer and made some time to go to the local Goodwill. I found these leather Harley Davidson chaps for about $15. I didn’t realize until I got home that the pant legs were cut off at the bottom. I listed it best I could explaining the issue. It sold at $44.50, and the buyer was happy with the fit. It could have sold at twice the price if it didn’t have that issue.
This vintage vise sold for $35, and the buyer requested that I ship it directly to Iceland. I offered the Pirate Ship simple export price plus a bit for insurance, which came to $25.
I purchased several bins of denture related items about two months ago. I found a number of different grinding bits and related tool pieces. I wasn’t about to sell those for actual dental use, so I gathered a bunch of that stuff and put it in a plastic sorting bin. It sold for $37.
This was a nothing sort of sale; just a novelty tea infuser “Statue of LiberTEA” that came in a box lot with a bunch of more interesting stuff. It sold for $10, and the buyer kept asking how she could buy more. I did find their website, but it looked like they were looking for an investor.
I mentioned this sale in my podcast post. A Canadian collector of Scotch whiskey pitchers bought 12 of them for $97. I paid about 25 cents each. The buyer said that they all arrived safely and was impressed with my packing techniques. He did realize belatedly that the Imperial was a US bourbon company and not the Scottish one he was thinking about. I’m sure he’ll find someone to give it to.
A few years ago, I bought a bunch of Rotary Club flags that I thought would be collectable, but this is the first to sell. It was from the Beirut club, and it sold to someone in Belgium through GPS for $26. I only paid about $1. I went through the ones still in my inventory and reduced the prices.
Just a couple of interesting sales from last week:
At a homemade garage/estate sale, I picked up four large boxes of Christmas Village stuff for $50. One of the boxes included 10 of these Enesco Rudolph figurines https://www.ebay.com/itm/193581513542 This one sold for full asking price of $34.50
The other boxes in that lot held dozens of Lefton villiage pieces and figurines. This gazebo wasn’t a super high-value sale at $14.50, but it was easy to list and ship and I paid about a dollar for it among all the others. https://www.ebay.com/itm/193585515493
I pick up patches everywhere I find them. I found multiples of these vintage motorcycle safety instructor patches and sold two to this buyer for $19 https://www.ebay.com/itm/193684320468
