Sales have been much slower for me in April and May, mainly mundane, low-dollar items, so it hasn’t been worth posting lately but have been enjoying your videos. And watching your critters enjoy the return to Spring.

Pakistan was the source of many knives for the flea market trade in the past. Since knife collectors turn up their noses at them, they can be picked up for cheap, but eBay buyers will pay decent prices for them if the blade has not been ground on (what possesses people to sharpen a knife with a bench grinder?) and there’s no lateral play in the pivot when the blade is open. Sealed printer ink cartridges are not very exciting and there is a great deal of competition but I find they are quick sellers and can be sourced all over. I guess it helps that many eBay ink sellers are slow shippers with low feedback. I paid $1 for this Canon 221 set and they sold quickly for $28, free shipping (first class package). These were not dated. HP cartridges for example have an expiration date but I have never had a problem selling expired ink with full disclosure and a guarantee of full function. When I bought this 8mm 1945 football highlights film for a couple dollars at a yard sale I thought it would be a great seller at a decent price but I was disappointed to find very little interest in this type of thing and comps with very low selling prices. Huge quantities of these Romanian M59 rifle bayonets have been imported to the US, many of which are in poor condition or missing the leather frog, rubber insulator, and wrist strap. So they’re a dime a dozen and even nice ones can be bought relatively cheap. This was in very good condition, had all its parts, and the serial numbers matched on the bayonet and scabbard. Steve – Your video reminds me that I have to sell a keyboard I bought about 10 years ago at a garage sale. I wanted my kids to see if they had any musical interests. They are teenagers now, and neither is playing any instruments.
I bought some silver plate at auction not really paying attention to brand or type. I ended up with a number of items made by Christofle, which is a high-end French brand. I found this Machinery’s Handbook at an estate sale for a couple buck. I knew machinery items can do well on the market so I took a chance. It was an old edition from 1975, but it still sold for full price of $45. I kind of wished I would have studied it a bit more while I had it for sale. Here’s my big sale of the week. I found this Sirchie fingerprint field kit tucked away at an estate sale and was given a price of $10 which I thought was good enough. It seemed to have only been utilized once with most of the containers still sealed shut. Here’s a neat little sale. I had to look these up to find out what they were exactly. Back a long time ago, people would send their servants to their friends’ and neighbors’ homes to deliver a visiting card. Simply a business card size card with their name. If the other party wanted them to visit, they would send the servant back with their own card. It was some kind of weird Elizabethan etiquette. Finally, my favorite sale of the week. I found this Westfield milk glass mug in a box lot that I only paid a few dollars for. The older machinery’s handbooks are so well made – many people want them for their durability. The majority of the information does not change.
I have the 29th edition on my work desk and reference it often.
Some great sales! Steve’s $100 for the open plastic model cars, have to love that! Interesting to see Temudgin’s Paki lockback selling for $28, my eyes are open now as I do see them cheap, and actually appreciate the heft and tightness of many of these knives.
It seems to take me a couple of weeks now to come up with sales interesting and high enough to enjoy sharing, here goes.
