I bought this Black and Decker coffee bean burr grinder at a thrift store for $3. I didn’t do enough research with the solds before buying it though. They don’t sell for much more than i paid for it. And mine had some issues with the outer case coming off. So I took it apart and listed some of the pieces. Here’s my big sale of the week. The previous week I sold a pair of Katadyn pocket water filters for a best offer of $300. This week I sold a replacement filter for them for full price of $150. That was an exceptional buy at a crazy awesome auction last summer. The box lot that these came in cost me $15. This sale was kind of different. I acquired these hand made wooden elfs from an auction a couple of years ago. I paid $11 for them. I’ve had them listed for as long as I’ve had them, but I’ve got to use them twice to decorate my home for Christmas while they were listed. Here’s why it pays to be patient. This Knickerbocker stuffed animal came from a thrift shop two years ago for $2. I wouldn’t have bought it normally, but it had a BF Goodrich logo sewn on its clothing. Others were sold on eBay without the logo for $10-15. But I know a little logo can sometimes make the price go up. So I went crazy and listed it for $50. Steve – You had a great idea to combine the shade from one lamp with the base of another. This is exactly why people pass up on great items. They don’t think creatively about parsing something out or combining parts from different pieces.

I purchased this menorah in December at an online auction for $1. The candle holder is nothing like I had ever seen. Regular candles don’t work with it. Perhaps the rolled up beeswax candles would work? Anyway, I googled in something like “menorah with spikes”, and it did not take me long to find it. It was made by an Israeli artist who passed away in the 60s, and its style is called brutalist. I found an online auction where it sold for $150, so I listed it for $179 or best offer. A $125 offer came in about an hour later from a shop in NY. The interesting thing is that I bought a different brutalist style menorah during the summer, and it also sold quickly for good money. My daughter got into something called pen spinning when she was in middle school. I guess it’s more of an Asian sport. The sport consists of spinning pens with one hand and doing tricks. For about a year, all she wanted for gifts were parts of these pens that she would put together and make different forms. I don’t even want to talk about how much money we spent on pen parts! This isn’t particularly interesting, but I purchased this unused vintage knife set for $2 when I was still new to eBay selling. The photos were not great, so I retook them last year. I had no idea rusty old axe heads were collectible. I was at a garage sale and haggling over the price of something. To sweeten the pot, the owner handed me this axe head. Last spring I found NIP vintage English Leather products for cheap at various rummage sales and lotted them up. COGS for the lot ended up at $5. Sold in 5 months for $69.
Seatbelt bags are no longer popular! Purchased this one for $11 hoping for $50-70, finally got rid of it for $17 eleven months later. So happy to see it go.
Purchased this 90s track/leisure suit based partly on what I learned from The Poetry Of Nice sales videos. Perfect condition. Paid $5, sold for $49 in just 2 months.
I don’t usually buy mugs, but couldn’t pass this one up – based on the style, age, and name. Paid $1, sold when I lowered the price from $30 down to for $20. I originally priced very high ($33) hoping a Bernie Sanders fan would snap it up, but I think it was a couple years too late for that. Also not in great condition as I think it was being used as a pen/pencil holder for a very long time, so personally I wouldn’t want to actually drink out of it. Took 5 months to sell.
I love finding vintage fabric that has the brand name printed on the selvedge so I can look it up! Got into fabric based on Scavenger Life, of course. Paid $1 for this 2-yard piece. Sold in 4 months for $30.
