Steve does great with a Vintage Halloween Mask (perfect timing too!). They’re a great buy when you can find one, can’t say we ever have, so keep your eyes peeled.
I see those Halloween masks from time to time, but never in such good condition. I had a really bad week of sales this time. A few interesting items sold, and here they are…
I bought this lot of old photographs from this online auction house that I no longer do business with. It’s too far of a drive and it’s always a gamble with their one-picture-only listings. Anyways, I won this auction for a pile of old black and white photographs for about $30 total. I brought them home and was disappointed that they were relatively new photos from Gettysburg Memorial park, maybe from the ‘60s. They were snapshots of all the statues at that memorial, and I didn’t think they were really worth that much so I listed them as an auction with a starting price of $40. They shot up to $90 at the last second so I guess some people really wanted them. Maybe the whole tearing down statues ordeal in recent news really increased the interest. Another piece from my vintage kitchen glass lot sold last week. This is a Federal Glass mixing bowl. I guess I don’t mind selling this kind of glassware since it more hardy and can store and pack a lot easier. I paid up for this lot at almost $50 for everything. So this piece came to $7.00. Here’s my sell of the week. I got this old WW2 compass out of a box lot of random odds and ends that I paid a total of $60 for. A lot of cool stuff came out of that box, but this was the first to sell. Each sellable piece came to about $4.00. I was surprised when I discovered how desirable these compasses were. And mine came with the original leather case. I priced it high at $115 and took a best offer of $100. WW2 Compass and Leather Case
Love that Federal Glass bowl, Doublythumbs. I have sold a couple of other Frigidaire (The F with the crown on the side of the bowl was their logo and at the time they were actually owned by General Motors) promotional items but I have never come across a bowl. Great find.
Well I’ll be damned. You just solved a mystery for me. Even though the bowl was Federal glass, I couldn’t find that logo when I searched their name. I didn’t even think that it was a promotional item for another company. Maybe I should have priced it higher, eh? Oh well! I’m just happy it sold.
I only recognized it because I just sold a glass with the promotional colors of the appliance enamel on it a couple of months ago. Since then I’ve dound some other smaller items. I’ve learned a lot from SL and from you and thought I would pass it on. But no remorse! Sales are great, and who knows if that would have changed the value. We are always happy to take the money and run.

That is just unbelievable. I can only image that you sell all day with a constant “cha-ching” ringing in your ears, then stay up all night packing and shipping. That’s got to be some serious “volume” packing, even though you have it down to a science.
I had this piece up for a month or 2 on ebay and etsy for $125 and finally took a $70 offer–this sort of chaps my hide because she is in Australia and the GSP cost to ship was pretty outrageous, so I had to take a reduction to make up for some of that shipping, but I made the sale and I only paid $10 for it at a thrift store.
I had $150 on this (my crazy out there price, LOL) but took $60 for it because I just want to sell, again this was cross listed with not much play. Bought for $15 at a thrift store.

This sort of fits in what WV said about his Civil War monument photos–I had this paperweight on etsy for months for $25 with no interest, but because of all the controversy lately this sold on ebay in a few days for $35–the funnest part for me was trying to find out who the sulphide was of, I finally settled on Robert E Lee and presented my evidence. bought for $5 at a thrift store.
bought for $10 in a thrift and sold in a couple of days for $75. A note about my prices, as someone with ONE business and a relatively small inventory I have made an executive decision to be reasonable on my pricing–yes, I could have asked more for this piece but I just want to keep things moving.

My husband is currently working out of a different building because his company is in process of redoing his regular office area. He had business in his original office and happened to notice a pile of old equipment that was being thrown out. Here are two electronic calipers that I obviously underpriced because they both sold very quickly. I thought I had done my homework and priced them at $30, only $10 below a new one on eBay. Here is my favorite of the week. I bought this unopened Cinderella VHS deluxe tape set at auction for about $12. Someone in Australia, who opened an account that day, bought it for full price of $79. Had a good week for a change. But also was contacted today by someone asking me if a Disney one size nightgown t-shirt was unisex. I said yes it could be. Then they asked measurements on it so I measured it. Then they asked if I would please try it on and send a photo of myself in it “for reference, then I can buy it.” I said No, it’s way too big for me as I’m a petite. Then they claimed to be a petite person also, so would I please send a photo of me in it, and signed it Susie. I said No, I don’t send photos of myself to strangers. What a perv. And why would he want a photo of someone in an oversized t-shirt??? The member name showed a man in France. That figures.
