It’s been godawful slow for us this summer, but there are little pockets of cha-chings periodically. Last Sunday we sold 7 items out of the blue so that was a nice surprise. Here are our most notable recent sales.
Got this dryer power module at a yard sale for $10. The guy bought it to fix his dryer but never used it. We couldn’t test it so I hope it works. I think the mfr has stopped making this part. Sold for $230: http://www.ebay.com/itm/112482050090
Also got these Vionics for $2 at a church rummage sale, sold for $50. I like Vionics myself because of the arch support but never thought I’d see such a cool pair in such good shape at a rummage sale. I think my eyes bugged out. http://www.ebay.com/itm/112477221276
pythonesk, thanks for posting about your surveyor’s tripod you sold. I found just a single leg on one of these that is really pretty (looks like oak with nice steel finishes). Wasn’t exactly sure what it was but it was $2 and cool. Seeing the prices of the complete tripods I’m guessing I can put this leg up for $25-40 and hope someone needs it for a repair!
Steven, still amazes me some of the little tiny parts that you’re able to scavenge & sell! Great stuff!
My interesting sales of the past 7 days:
c1960s Disneyland Railroad Oil Can
Showed this a couple weeks ago when I found it at a sale. Immediately fell in love with it and priced it high; the most recent ones had sold for only $60-$70 but I priced mine at $130. Took a best offer of $119 today.
1950s View-Master Model E with Box & 35 Reels
I started to get nervous that this wouldn’t sale or that I’d have to put it on clearance sale. Bought the lot for $10 at a sale and listed for $60. Finally sold today on a 20% off sale for $48.
Zenith Space Commander SC 600-X Color TV Remote Control
Such a cool looking little piece. One of the first wireless remote controls for a TV. I’m sure it doesn’t work anymore, just looks awesome. Paid $1 at a sale and sold for $30.
(12) Beatles 45s Singles Lot
Paid up for these with one of my records guys – he goes to Goodwills & fleas all over but hates selling online, only sets up on his stoop down the street from me. He’s an old hippie. Negotiated him down to $40 for this book and sold for $100. One of the many things in my store that I’m not making 10x my money one, but it’s high quality and drives a lot of clicks & interest.
YALE & TOWNE Brass Padlock Lock with Key
Part of the vintage & antique padlock cache I found a few weeks ago. Paid an average of $3 per lock, this one sold for $30 best offer.
What happend to the Space Command market, I sold one a year or so ago for over $100. There are tone rods inside that sound when you push the button, it clicks hence the term ‘Clicker’. Very cool item.
My highest sale of the week was my 2nd to last Vampire Tarot card set. This one sold for $75. I raised the price of the last one to $99 or best offer. http://www.ebay.com/itm/182612727671
I bought a box lot of flatware at auction for some silverplate items, but, of course, the first thing to sell was more mundane. This is a set of various stainless steel flatware & serving pieces in the same vintage pattern. Bought for $4.50, sold for $40. http://www.ebay.com/itm/182659778494
I bought a lot of pantone books and color fans at an online auction. This is the first to sell, a color fan from 1963. Paid about $6.50 and sold for full price of $60. http://www.ebay.com/itm/182628171737
Along with those tarot card sets, I bought boxes upon boxes of books, overstock/remainder books, that are selling very slowly. I’m valuing each book at about 20 cents. I will be finding ways to sell them more quickly, but this workbook for artists sold for $16, which includes shipping. http://www.ebay.com/itm/182612604278
This set of 10 silverplate spreaders came from an auction lot of various small kitchen items. Paid $2, sold for $29. http://www.ebay.com/itm/182598704212
Here’s my sold video from June! Someone was saying they had audio issues with it, but I hear it fine on my end. Hopefully it’s ok aside from the background hiss. https://youtu.be/jo9Vpyo5L6I
My favorite recent sale. Paid $3 apiece at indy thrift where the older ladies like fussy stuff. They have raised their prices since I found the place unfortunately but still an amazing place. http://www.ebay.com/itm/232286931796
These handmade items take a looong time to sell but I feel compelled to rescue them. Paid $3 at the same indy thrift. http://www.ebay.com/itm/331886005086
This was in the box of stuff I got from buying the “remains” of a yard sale. I honestly didn’t think I’d get much for them, if they sold, but they did. So, cost was about 10c. Feedback on this said “Very pretty, great condition.” http://www.ebay.com/itm/182569199509
