I haven’t had a chance to watch yet, but here are some faves from last week.
Another 1940s Photo Album w/ pics – I will always be looking for photo albums now after having a few good sales. I think I paid $3.75 for this at an estate sale and it sold for $125.
George Washington Miniatures – This is a fun one! I got it at a really junky estate sale for about $1.00, and it sold for $125. I was really nervous about shipping the display case, and then the guy emailed to say he didn’t want it. Score!
Vintage Gym Locker Baskets – I bought a whole gym locker rack with 35 or so baskets a couple of years ago. The baskets were 3 different brands, and the rack was cut in half, so I’m just selling the baskets and I FINALLY listed some. They had tons of watchers, so when these sold I quickly dug out a few more batches and got them listed. I paid $40 for all and this set sold for $80.
I was away for last week, but I did well despite the extended shipping. Since I came back with 21 items to ship, I decided to do a video, which covers more than just the past week.

This is a Harmony Kingdom collectable box, artist made in the UK with crushed marble. My brother-in-law gave me his whole collection, so I paid nothing (although I owe him and my sister a meal) and sold for $87.80 (came to $95 with shipping). I have showed up to an overstocks and unclaimed merchandise auction a few times, but I’ve been hesitant to buy anything. Last Fall, I ended up buying 25 bags & purses for $2 each from a guy who won the lot. Up to this week, I had only sold one of them. A few weeks ago, I changed them all to Best Offer and removed free shipping, and they’ve started to sell close to my original asking prices. I’ve been selling more purses and wallets in general right now, so the Spring season must also be helping sales. This massager with magnets from a brand called Nikken was sold on commission for a family friend. All the items she gave me from Nikken have sold very quickly. I had it up for $89, but took the offer of $40 when I found that most of the used ones went for around that price. Still have the store on auto pilot, but plan to change that over the weekend. Sales have been markedly slower than the past few, but things are still moving.
1977 Iggy Pop Lust for Life Record
This was part of the lot of records I bought from a pretty high end collector selling off his collection. Found him on CL and have been buying 5-10 at a time as he digitizes the records. Normally if I find records in the wild, I pay no more than $1-$2, but since this was from a personal collection and I knew how rare it was, I paid about $35 for it. Sold for $100 best offer and the buyer already left me awesome feedback.
Vintage Original Fisher Space Pen AG7-SH
Got four of these original Fisher Space Pens at an estate sale for $10 each. Sold one almost immediately for $50 a couple months ago and just sold the second for full price ($60), headed to Australia.

I took a chance on a box of small oil paintings that I bought on a whim at an auction for $30 total. It came with 6 pieces of art, including this beautiful piece by Otto Van Thoren, though there was some confusion because the sticker on the back stated it was painted by someone else. I mentioned that in the listing and listed it for $110. I took a best offer of $89. Van Thoren Oil Painting
I mentioned a couple weeks ago about a problem buyer asking a million questions about a 1945 Replogle globe and then lowballing me. Well a different person came by and bought it for a better price. I don’t think I’ll be doing globes much anymore. I’ve got no interest in them and they take up a lot of space. I bought this one for maybe a couple bucks and sold it for BO of $70 1945 Replogle Globe
This was my favorite sale this week. I bought this Sony 8 track player at a thrift store for $10. Brought it home and realized the belt was not only bad, but melted. I took some time to clean it up and ordered a new belt for a few bucks and it worked perfectly! I made a video to show it working with an old Doobie Brothers tape. I think that’s what sold it. Lol. Finally, here’s my second favorite sale of the week. I would have passed these vintage bedsheets up at an auction, but because of you guys here, I now know they sell. These NIB cotton percale 4-piece bedsheet set by Martex cost me $12.50. I set the price high at $70 hoping to get a best offer. Well someone came along and bought them at full price! It turns out this person works for a set design department for a movie production company. I wish I could find out more. I want to watch whatever they’re filming so I can try and spot these. I love the globe. I’m more in to it for the history and totally hear you on them taking up a lot of space. If you find the right ones, they are quite valuable – typically pre-war because of how different the countries & boarders looked each year. That was a nice sale on the Sony 8 track. The recording models get the most money.
Those rubber belts are similar to turntable belts, they decompose with age, a real gooey mess to clean. Alcohol works best, a little for cleaning a little for me.

I think I had my scavenge of the week AND my sale of the week all in a two day span! I went yesterday to pick up some items I bought from an online auction. Part of it was 6 canisters of old film that I paid $1.30 for all six. I was a little disappointed because they were dirty and in rough shape. I listed it anyway just now and had someone offer me $100 for three of the canisters! It might have gone for more, but given the condition I took the offer! God, I love this job!
In the past when I have a garage sale, I notice there are certain things I just want to get rid of, and other things I’m kind of into that I price higher. I think as I go through the piles, I need to price some things like these mugs to move.
