Agree 100%. I know this has been suggested to ebay over the years, not sure why they’ve never implemented something like this.
Gompers, ebay has a program to authenticate high end bags. And I gather they will be expanding it to other categories.
ebay fulfillment is probably not something I’d use…I don’t use FBA either….not sure it makes sense for my long tail stuff. Or that my stuff would even be eligible if and when they do this. But I’m not opposed to it. Large sellers (many of whom use door to door Guaranteed Delivery) already have multiple warehouses. This could provide a real step up for smaller sellers to compete, especially those on the coasts. But again, it wouldn’t be for everyone…I know my buyers like speedy delivery, seriously, who doesn’t?, but I don’t think for most long tail stuff most of the time it’s any sort of “must have”
I’ve been doing this since long before smart phones or the internet, so I go mostly on instinct. Sometimes I’m right, sometimes I’m wrong. I use the phone for stuff I’m unsure of, especially if its a little pricey. Just came from a church rummage sale where price was by donation, so never used the phone, just went with my gut.
What does the tag say? Anything about in compliance with state laws, or something like that? I think some states require this for things like afghans, upholstered furniture, etc.
I think it is probably one of those “you get into it what you put into it” types of things.
the room rate doesn’t include the hotel tax, which bumps it up a good bit more. The 275 is the early registration rate, it goes up by about $125 after May 1st I think…
I’ve never been, so can’t say whether it is well spent or not. We’re giving it some thought…we’d also have to tack on the cost of a flight from the east coast
you’re welcome. Mine’s empty too…did the shipping this morning….would prefer to see some shipping reminders!
Oh, I’m going to have to read that book—thanks for sharing! The sort of stuff he’s selling—-my chance of finding that kind of stuff here in rural Pennsylvania is low to zero. (Although it improves if I’m willing to drive out of my usual stomping grounds.) But for me, and I suspect for most of us here, it really is the thrill of the hunt that keeps us in the game. I have morie damn death piles than I like to think about, but I continue to source because that’s where the fun is. And for me, and again, I suspect many here, it’s not just the thrill of the hunt, it’s also the constant learning that’s involved…there’s always new stuff to learn.
Of course, like almasty, I often wonder what would be in those death piles if I had bought different stuff years ago when I was still making the flea market circuit. I try not to dwell on all the good stuff I left behind. LOL
03/29/2018 at 11:46 am in reply to: Any scenarios under which you would NOT accept returns on ebay? #36604I have 30 day free return shipping on everything right now I think. However, I’m not dogmatic about it—something like that fridge, I’d go with no returns.
I have a “tasks” box in Seller Hub—-it tells me how many items I have to ship, and below that, it tells me how many have to be shipped today. If I click on those numbers, it takes me to the page from which I can ship labels. The tasks box also tells me if I have offers or questions, not sure what else it includes (if anything). It’s the first thing I look at in Seller Hub. You don’t have that?
picking pair, I’m on the east coast, and I have one day handling time. if an order comes in before 3AM ET on Tuesday morning, I must ship it Tuesday, because it counts as a Monday order. If it comes in after 3AM Tuesday morning, I can wait till Wed, as it counts as a Tuesday order. So, yes, it’s all based on Pacific Time.
And, should have said this first, great job on the transcript!
Oh, and also, I watched the webinar and am not as certain as you about the 2018-2019 issue. I’m not sure the GD team reps weren’t confused about the question Griff was asking. But it’s not a big concern for me—-even if you are right, I’ll opt in.
Just want to add in the live chat before the Weekly Chat, they confirmed that two existing requirements will go away in May: immediate payment will no longer be required and returns will no longer be required. They also acknowledged that the possibility of adding it to auction listings is being reviewed.
