We have a number of long established farmers markets in my area— most produce sold there is not necessarily “in season, local produce” Some is, you have to know the seller and you have to know when stuff is in season locally. But the larger sellers in particular buy the non locally grown from wholesalers. If you want a wide selection, it’s the only way to do it. Let’s face it, no one is growing bananas in my area, but some of the sellers have bananas for sale.
So, I’d say at most long established farmers market, you are getting a mix of locally grown and non locally grown. At some of the newer frou frou markets aimed at the upscale market, I’m sure there’s more emphasis on local and organic.
Of course, we’re also lucky around here in that there are farm stands selling their own produce….just bought rhubarb at an Amish farm the other day: knocked on her door, she went out to the garden and pulled rhubarb for us while we waited. No question THAT was locally grown LOL
I think , at least for quite some time, and maybe still today, it was actually independent of ebay and received no funding from ebay, so the ads paid for the studio time etc.
Tam, If you want to see some comments on this, there’s already a thread on this , under the title: ebay sales slump: an interesting analysis

Retro,
Of my last five sales, four were Promoted LIstings.
I frankly don’t worry too much about the placement of my PLs in regular search results. Why? Because I strongly suspect (but ebay provides no data) that most of my PL items that sell are NOT selling from the basic search result page, but from one of the OTHER pages where PL items are shown. It’s those other locations that keep me coming back to PLs.
The penalty fee increase is not impacted by whether you win or lose the issue. If the buyer filed as an INAD return, it will be counted against you. Winning your case won’t effect that.
Maybe Christian Missionaries spreading the Gospel to the “heathen Chinese” at the turn of the century?
I’ve read/heard two sides on this, 1. to succeed , you must be active in the community, 2. to succeed, if you offer popular stuff, you can just list it and forget the community aspect.
Poshmark is , in a very general sense, like early ebay, in that it is designed to be consumer to consumer. Back then, ebay never really foresaw that it would eventually have a big business to consumer component, and so would need to to change things so sellers could scale their businesses. ebay’s growth from C2C to B2C with some C2C, was really led by the sellers, those who said “Hey, I can do more than clean out my closet….I can turn this into a business!”
I’m already seeing the beginnings of that on Poshmark (more and more “gurus” are pushing Poshmark these days, as a business, not a clean out your closet sort of thing.
How Poshmark responds to this will be interesting. IF it tries to accommodate the casual sellers in their desire to become businesses, it will likely need to move away from the time consuming community stuff. (JUst as etsy eventually moved away from the strictly handmade by the seller requirement as it began to , successfully, chase the B2C segment)
One good thing about PM : right now might be a good time to try it, while there seems to be some buzz about it, just like ebay in the early days. The trick for all these platforms is to figure out how to STAY relevant.
Looks to me like yours are definitely not first edition, as they lack the first edition symbol in the lower corner of the front of the pack.
I know some things can’t be changed once bids have been obtained. I wonder if a subtitle can be added? Saying something like “Correction: Not first edition.”
After the auction closes, I would immediately notify the winning bidder of the problem, and give the bidder the opportunity to cancel.
don’t know, but maybe this will help?
Custer’s guidon featured here:

A guidon, I think is the name for that sort of flag. Often associated with US Cavalry during the Indian Wars…
Habnab, I’m curious…was the German print printed in Germany, or printed in the US but in the German language? I sometimes come across some of the latter when sourcing, living (more or less) in the Pennsylvania Dutch country as I do.
Guessing…Vietnam era.
As I understand it, the auto repricer is being tested right now. I’m expecting (hoping) that ebay will eventually provide a version that allows the seller to set the parameters. Auto repricing has been a “thing” on Amazon for years, and I think there’s third party software available for ebay repricing. The concept certainly isn’t new, what’s new is that ebay itself might provide the tool or tools.
I think the tools are generally more useful for commodity, multi item listing sellers, but I could see using it for some of my stuff on occasion , especially if ebay eventually provides more flexibility for sellers.
