Jay, I haven’t had a chance o really look into it, but I’m pretty sure it’s for anything you want to sell (Although FB does prohibit some things, if I’m not mistaken.).
It has the potential to be a real game changer. Especially since they’ll be bringing it to Instagram in the summer (which I think FB owns?). A lot of vintage sellers already use Instagram to sell directly.
I have a FB “business” page which I don’t really do much with, but I will have to see if I can turn that into a FB shop….
So sorry to hear about this. yes, just cancel and refund, it shouldn’t impact you at all as pandemic protection rules are in effect. Stay safe!

TRS Plus gets you the TRS badge on your TRS Plus qualifying listings. Some sellers think this helps with sales, others think it makes no difference. I figure it doesn’t hurt, it might help. You also get 10% off the FVF on any sale of a TRS Plus listing. So, if the FVF is 10%, that’s a regular fee of $1.00 on a $10.00 item, but with TRS Plus, that’s a fee of 90 cents.
Offhand, I can’t remember whether it is TRS or TRS Plus that gets you the nice discount on ebay shipping label fees. I think that’s TRS, but I’m not sure.

This does NOT change the requirements for Top Rated Seller status. There is a difference between being a Top Rated Seller and having a Top Rated PLUS listing This relates to Top Rated PLUS LISTINGS. To get the TRS Plus benefits (and the TRS Plus badge on your listing), you have long needed to have same or one day handling and 30 day free domestic returns. That does NOT change. It is already a requirement. This change won’t effect most of us who get our inventory from thrifts, yard sales etc. IF (as is the case for most of us) you are registered on the US site AND your item actually ships from the US, then all you need to do is continue doing what you’ve been doing for TRS Plus listings. On the other hand, if you are registered in the US but your item will actually ship from, say, China (for example, you are using a drop shipper), then to get TRS Plus you must provide FREE 30 DAY INTERNATIONAL RETURNS.
My listings currently all qualify for TRS Plus I am registered on the US site, I ship from the US, I’m a Top Rated Seller, I offer one day handling, and I offer 30 day free DOMESTIC return shipping on all my listings. I do not need to change anything. Same old same old.
While I’m guessing some prohibited categories will remain prohibited, I’m pretty sure ebay has been clear that sellers of coins and Adult Material will be accommodated….the issue is Adyen, not ebay, and ebay has been working on it with them. I really don’t think ebay is going to throw away the money to be made in those categories.
05/12/2020 at 3:43 pm in reply to: Photos of your item in front of a 90% bare bosom = eBay search manipulation? #77366Thinking a bit more about it, I think this seller has been doing this for a long time….so at this point, it may be effective as a brand logo….helps to identify the seller’s listings. If everyone did this, it would lose its effectiveness.
05/12/2020 at 3:41 pm in reply to: Photos of your item in front of a 90% bare bosom = eBay search manipulation? #77365Ryanne, Good question. I gather the seller does sell, so in that respect, it seems to work. But I suppose the seller would have to do an actual A/B test to determine whether her stuff actually benefits from this approach, or would she (or he) actually sell more without it?
Jay, I’m with you. This should simplify bookkeeping, and as long as the cost remains about the same, I’m happy. I figure on some sales I may pay more than the old way, on others less. Hopefully it will all balance out pretty well.
I do think it might help increase incremental sales because buyers will have more payment options….I’m sure there are people who would prefer ApplePay to PayPal, and now they’ll be able to buy on ebay.
MPs is definitely not a deal breaker for me.
Choppsshop,
I can answer that one. Yes, buyers will be able to use Paypal, credit card, Apple Pay and others. This will actually give your buyers the ability to use PayPal or other stuff…Just to be clear, with MPs, there are basically two fees for domestic sales. A transaction fee of a flat 30 cents, and what they are still calling an FVF, but which is basically the FVF and Processing fee rolled into one. So, with Managed Payments, the Antiques FVF goes from 9.15% to 11.5%. IF there is no sales tax, this will usually save the seller a little money. Sales tax is sort of the wild card, because the seller can end up paying more with MPs than with present system. That’s because currently the FVF is on the item price plus shipping and handling, but NOT sales tax. (PayPals fee is on the total, including Sales Tax). I think PayPal’s current fee is 2.9%.
Under the new MP system, ebay’s new, higher FVF is applied to the total purchase price, INCLUDING sales tax. Depending on the sales tax rate, this means the seller might end up paying more than under the present system.
As to your first question, I haven’t really looked into that yet. There’s probably someone else here who will answer it.
I’m not sure where you are getting the 2.79%?
amatino,
The transaction fee is per transaction, not per item. If the buyer makes one combined payment for the two items, there’s one fee. If the buyer pays for one, and then another one, there will be two fees.
05/06/2020 at 10:24 pm in reply to: are you the same kind of scavenger you were before the lockdown? #77168Amatino, I’ve been going to the basement, putting away the snow shovels and such, and each time I come back up with something from “the Basement Thrift Store”. But I don’t really have to go there….the first and second floors have stuff too….and that’s not to mention the storage sheds….so, no urgency to source, but the desire is strong……for us, that’s the real fun.
OK, in my above example, if there was no sales tax, I think seller would save about 6 cents ($1.21 now , and $1.15 with MP)
