Hi Malinda, Want to thank you for the invitation…..I had to reschedule, but finally had my Zoom meeting today with your co-worker. I must say, I was very pleased with the mock-ups he showed me. It seems pretty clear that ebay really is trying to make the process easier, and is listening to sellers. I’ve always liked ebay, but , along with many others, it seemed to me that ebay had lost its way somewhere along the way. I am beginning to feel that new management really is going to turn things around, and improve the platform. I am very encouraged! Thanks again!
Jay, I think that may be one of the things that’s coming….
Yeah, item specifics is pretty much a given. The only other thing I’m pretty certain of is that they’ll announce a change to Vacation settings. Other than that, it’s just wait-and-see time. Frankly, I’m not expecting anything really awful, and maybe some good stuff. Or at least neutral stuff LOL
I have a Facebook business page (little used) and an Instagram account (almost never used), but now that ebay has free FVFs for stuff sold through the ebay Partner Network, I’m hoping to get time to work on that. We’ll see.
I got one. Not sure everyone got one….I think maybe you had to have been with ebay for a certain amount of time? Anyway, 25 bucks is 25 bucks….I’m sure I won’t have any trouble spending it.
And speaking of gifts from ebay, this week or next we can all expect to receive the Fall Seller Update LOL Should include a new improved way to put store on vacation. Other than that, I don’t know what to expect.
Hi Malinda, Just sent you my info. Thanks!
As far as Halloween too early…..I think we’re looking at an unpredictable Q4, but one thing I will predict is: more people buying earlier in the season, and more people asking us to ship directly to a giftee. And maybe asking us to wrap gifts as well. I suggested to ebay that they make it easier for buyers to designate a giftee shipping address and also that they add an indicator on the search results pages to indicate sellers who are willing to gift wrap. I doubt ebay will actually DO this stuff, but I think it would be helpful if they did. But who knows? Maybe it will be part of the Fall Seller Update (coming in early Sept., or so we’ve been told)
Covid, the economy, the election, natural disasters and the USPS mess all concern me, but I do think there’s a chance this could be a great Q4. Unfortunately, I also think it’s possible that it will be terrible. Only time will tell.

Jay, Unfortunately, not only are there some in Congress who are salivating at the prospect of taking the USPS private, but the USPS unfortunately is now also a target because of the election and mail-in voting. Unless something dramatic happens, I’m not expecting to see much improvement until after the election (and maybe not even then). As I told the better half as COVID first hit: I think we will continue to sell, because the people who buy most of our stuff are people who have disposable income and will continue to have it unless the economy completely tanks. My fear is the USPS won’t be supported by Congress and we’ll be hurt because shipping becomes a nightmare….
So far, we’ve been lucky….most of our packages have been getting there on time or not too far off. And I try to be proactive to avoid problems if a package is late. But this is no longer just the effects of COVID , this is now a newly appointed PostMaster General actively and deliberately undermining the system. I feel really bad for my local post office employees….COVID has been a real strain on them but they’ve remained dedicated and cheerful, but when your employer actually decides to make it harder for you to do your job…..after working so hard under difficult conditions….Well, it’s just very sad.
Hi, Thanks for the link Temudgin. I signed the letter and they sent it to my two Senators.
Emergency relief for the PO is just common sense, but unfortunately that is in short supply in Washington.
We are both in the “at risk” group (due to age, etc) and initially we refrained from sourcing, since we have plenty of stockpiled inventory to list. But the lure was too strong, and the last few weekends we’ve picked a day and went to yard sales…..nothing like we used to (up early, route mapped out, etc). We just go when we feel like it, run an errand or two, and stop at whatever yard sales cross our path. (We haven’t ventured back to the thrifts yet)
We’ve picked up some good stuff, but the downside is, we live in the heart of Pennsyltucky, and, I don’t really want to get into politics, but there’s no getting around it, this is TrumpLand…..so most yard sales we go to, we’re often the only people sporting masks and the only people trying to social distance. Our area isn’t the epicenter of the virus here, and yard sales held outside are fairly safe in my view, but when we go into a garage or house…..well, we’d both much prefer that the others wear masks, but neither of us is fool enough to suggest it LOL So, I guess it is what it is.
Best of luck to you, your GF and your Mom…these are trying times for sure.
Old Dad,
We were at eBay open a couple years ago, and they gave us Gildan 100% Heavy Cotton T shirts. I know that because I just happen to be wearing mine now LOL They’ve held up pretty good. Of course, I can’t say what they’ll send this time.
Old Dad,
Well, my hope is that they’ll make the videos available as replays for those who can’t make it “live”….

FVF fees are taken out before the money goes to your account. Store fees , insertion fees, Promoted Listing fees, etc go into your monthly statement. I believe you can opt to continue to pay that with PayPal (assuming you have money in your PP account or use a linked credit card). Or, I think you can pay from your bank account? I’m not sure.
