No, but I sure wish we did! LOL
Antique Frog, Yep, we have that here in the US as well.
10/21/2020 at 10:00 pm in reply to: Shipping page defaults to a more expensive method of shipping. #82695This was discussed on ebay’s Weekly Chat today…it’s a glitch, and they are trying to get it fixed. In the meantime: “Hey…let’s be careful out there.”
junque redux,
I haven’t seen that survey (yet), but yes, ebay management realizes exactly what you are saying. The new CEO and his execs has been very clear that used, reconditioned, antique etc is ebay’s real strength and its real differentiator. Yesterday one of them said (not an exact quote, but you get the idea): “You want a box of spaghetti delivered this afternoon? Amazon’s great at what they do. You need a part to repair your classic car? That’s eBay.”
ebay’s last CEO spent years taking ebay in the wrong direction. ebay can’t fix all the problems overnight. But they do realize, for example, that search sucks, that ebay really needs to make significant changes in a lot of areas.
Jay, My hope (admittedly, not my expectation LOL) is that, this time next year, ebay will be quite a different place. New management has been willing to say (not in these exact words) what many sellers have been saying for years: eBay under the former CEO wasted years going in the wrong direction. So these guys KNOW they have to play catch-up, they need to correct things that should have been corrected YEARS ago. But I think they also see that ebay still has tremendous potential. I agree with that. eBay could be SO MUCH more than it is, IF it plays to its strengths. I don’t think Wenig ever really understood ebay’s strength He gave lip service to the things that are “uniquely ebay”, but he wanted ebay to be a major Amazon competitor. These guys realize ebay is not really an Amazon competitor. WalMart, Target, they are. But ebay is ebay, and needs to focus on the sellers and the stuff that make ebay ebay. I think if they do that, it will be better for all of us. And I think they finally have people at the top who get that.
10/17/2020 at 11:47 pm in reply to: EBay’s >$100 Sneaker Authentication Service is Here – So What’s Next? #82545You can read Jordan’s comments on this here: https://community.ebay.com/t5/Announcements/Our-big-news-Sneakers-Authentication-w-Jordan-Sweetnam/ba-p/31280462
Hard to say which category will be next, but obviously ebay realizes this won’t work for everything. But I think Jay’s term, the halo effect, is spot on. And, as Jordan notes, it’s not just authentication. I don’t see this on my PC ebay Home Page, but I do on my phone: “The Sneaker Channel”…..I can see where that sort of content can help bring in buyers, and I can see extending that sort of thing to other categories as well…
My rule of thumb (not always observed) is: deny offers that are less than 50%, counter for offers that are above 50%. Or accept. I don’t know, I’m guessing I accept about as many as I counter. Like others, I consider a range of factors: How long have I had it? How much room is it taking up? What are similar items listed for now? Would I like a quick cash infusion? and, of course, sad to admit, sometimes: what kind of mood am I in? LOL
According to the USPS site, even my little local PO has the “label broker program” available. I wonder if they’ve ever actually used it? The ebay program is in beta, so I’m guessing most of us don’t have it available. Amora, if it works for you, let us know how it went….I think this could be really helpful in cases where a buyer wants to return an item but says they don’t have a printer at home and can’t print out an ebay return label. It would be great if I could send them a QR code that they could take to their PO….
It sounds like ebay is using the USPS “label broker program” to do this? https://www.usps.com/business/label-broker.htm
OK, found this at https://www.ebay.com/help/selling/posting-items/labels-packaging-tips/buying-printing-postage-labels?id=4157#section5 :
<h2 id=”section5″ class=”active”>QR code shipping labels <span class=”text-blue”>beta</span></h2>
If you don’t have a printer at home, you can choose the QR code option where available. You’ll receive a QR code which you can save to your phone. You can then scan the code at a participating drop-off location to print the shipping label there. Here’s how:- Go to Seller Hub Orders or My eBay Sold
- Select Print shipping label.
- Select a shipping service that says “Available” under QR code.
- Select QR code under Shipping label format.
- Select Purchase and print label.
- Choose if you would like to download QR code. You will also receive an email with the QR code for each label you purchase.
- Save the QR code on your device and bring it with your package to your nearest drop off location offering Print in store
- Select the Find a drop-off location link under what to do next to see participating locations
- Have the retail associate scan the QR code at the counter to print the shipping label and attach it to your package. Some self-service kiosks may also support label printing via QR code.
QR code labels are not currently available in the eBay app.
