Jay, That’s pretty much my thought. It’s advertising first (so, even if the link isn’t tracked, I’ll be happy if I make a sale). Second, it’s the free FVF….nice, especially on more expensive items. And finally, it’s the affiliate commission on stuff other than my own. Since it’s free to sign up and seems pretty easy to do, I figure I might as well try it….
11/19/2020 at 10:32 am in reply to: ebay Partner network (Affiliate Program) QR Code Now Available #83563Jay, Yes, exactly. I don’t know how it works if the buyer has disabled cookies on his phone/PC.

Well, first, I should be clear: While I’m talking about sending this as a codeless coupon (say, 10% off on selected Holiday items), the affiliate link can be to my store’s landing page (as in debitendcredits sample link) or to a particular listing, or really any of my pages (or other ebay pages). If the buyer scans the QR Code (or types in the now thankfully much shorter link, which I would also provide), he would be taken to whatever page I designate. And hopefully he’d buy something. IF he buys something from me that is traced back to the affiliate link, I will pay NO fvf on that sale (or maybe I pay it, but it’s then credited back, I don’t recall the exact mechanics).
If the buyer looks at my stuff, doesn’t buy, but then continues looking at stuff on ebay, and buys something from someone else, I get a percentage of the sale (which is a typical affiliate commission kind of thing.). It’s not a huge amount, and it varies by category and so forth.
With this model, I could create an affiliate link /QR Code for your Broad Porch coffee ebay store, and I could include that with a note saying “Try my friends coffee”, or something like that. And if they buy some coffee from you, I’d get an affiliate commission (and of course, you’d get a sale). (The commission comes out of ebay’s pocket, not yours)
I’ve really just started to play around with this, but I think it has potential.
debitsendcredits, How is it working for you? Anyone else using it?

These are both things network members have been asking for, so I’m happy to see them.

Keep in mind that price is ten years old. I would definitely be asking more today….
Yep, I’d do the same. Especially if its avocado green…should do well….best of luck with it!

As others have said, I think a combination of economic woes and uncertainty/anxiety is involved, but , as always, it’s also a question of what we have listed, what the competition is offering etc. J&R’s prescription still stands: ABL: Always Be listing.
While I’m all in favor of increasing my ASP, I do think I’m going to try to list a mix of lower dollar “stocking stuffer” type items along with higher priced items. I think there are buyers who haven’t been harmed by, and some who’ve benefited from, COVID, so higher priced items will still sell. But I think a lot of people are on a tight budget, and lower priced items will appeal to them.
I do think a lot of people were hoping that the election would bring us some normalcy, but obviously that didn’t really happen. (I was hoping for it, but not expecting it). I think it’s really sinking in that , between COVID and politics, there is no way things will be really back to normal before Christmas. Because of that, I think there will be a fairly high demand for anything that reminds people of more normal times, and anything that can provide some comfort in a world where a lot of family holiday celebrations will be, at least in part, virtual this year. I wish my “death pile” inventory was organized better, so I could more easily pick and choose just what to list. But, in any event: ABL!
Well, your book really resonated with me, and I think it will for a lot of other people, too. And once I get a little extra time, I’m going to go check out your songs….I’m curious about your reference to writing plays…..have you had any produced? I’ve done a fair bit of Community Theater over the years, and have some friends who’ve written plays and short films…
Hi Anna! A big Thank You for the signed copy of the book, and the enclosed note— I read it the same day it arrived (yesterday) and thoroughly enjoyed it! I’m sure some others here ordered it, so I don’t want to give too much away …but I must say, the better half and I are already referring to offers we get as “offertunities! LOL I really liked that the book is not just a “how to”, but also about your personal journey. And that you make very clear that ebay is a viable way to generate income, but isn’t a Get Rich Quick kind of thing. I’ll say no more, cause I don’t want to spoil it foe the others…
So, when will Jay and Ryanne be interviewing you for the podcast? (Hint, hint….)
And, of course, Griff should interview you for the ebay for business podcast, too….
Simon, Thanks for the tip about Slabwatch! Do you use the Slabwatch Browser Extension, or just the site itself?
Also, it used to be we could see a buyer’s purchase history on ebay, but they took that ability away some time ago. I’ve been hearing rumors that there’s a way to do it again (probably not through ebay itself). Anyone know anything about that?
One thing to consider: I’m not sure, but I think the 16 months is for a listing that has not been significantly revised during the 16 months? So if you made major revisions, it reset the countdown? Again, I’m just guessing here….
I’m still seeing that note in my Active Listings in Seller Hub.
