Glad you made it over KD!
I know you’re in a good position to know what’s up in the Amazon FBA world. Just curious what you think of the changes to Amazon FBA storage fees? Do you see it affecting the market?
11/29/2016 at 6:09 am in reply to: Bits from Ebay Customer Service- Revising Listings pushes them down in search! #6791I can see why changing my listing would change its search ranking because it needs to re-index the listing. There might be a drop in ranking at first, but the hope is my changes will then put it higher rank after it’s re-indexed. Does this make sense?
That article is from August.
Most interesting is the part that says: “What we can confirm, and what will help to keep up with the new algorithm, is that Best Match will no longer be placing as much weight on time ending soonest, though this will still be part of the algorithm. ”
If true, this would effectively end the rumor that you can re-list your items every 30-days to get a higher ranking.
I don’t think I had ever heard your story of starting on eBay. Glad you made it over!
Is the guy working for you just taking photos?
If I can ask, how much are you paying him?Yes, I agree we need some feature that tells you what has been posted since your last visit.
We did a bunch of CSS changes, but we’re paying the web developer to do PHP functions. We’ll see what he comes up with.About the date.time stamp. Just curious why this is important. I find that it clutters up the post. I personally don’t care what time something has been posted.
Welcome Matt. If you can successfully make money for someone else on eBay, you can certainly put the same mount of hours in for yourself.
Can you tell us a little more about that company’s set up? Was it just a big office with photo stations, laptops, and shipping area?
You can always call and get another quote. Or just say the car is used for personal use. Commercial insurance is usually reserved for vehicles owned by a company and driven all day long by other people.
We’re self-employed but we say we work from home.
If you have a chance, I’d love to see a photo of your set up. Just post a link here and it’ll embed.
I know you have a large FBA operation, so it’s great to hear how you’re handling the new storage fees. You had 1900 items destroyed!!! That’s a big decision to make.
For us, I’m worried that long tail books won’t sell on Amazon in six or even twelve months. We’re going to try to list books on eBay and see what happens.
I think finding shoes made from eel skin might be even more rare, and also very valuable.
The key to the shell cordovan is no creases. I guess other than eel skin(!), you won’t see this in any other material. It’s smart to take shoes to your local cobbler. We’ve done this before.
I love hearing the stories from scavengers who gained their experience in the flea market world…and then made the jump to eBay/Etsy. You jumped up the scavenger chain. It’s people like us that buy from the flea markets dudes to sell online.
And I like “buy fair, sell high”. We always make sure the people we buy from feel like it was a good deal all around.
This is a great suggestion. We’re actually going to get her to start listing this week. Teach her to fill in everything except the prices. I think we all forget how much experience and knowledge it takes to make a good listing. So we’re doing in in baby steps. We have to see how much she wants to learn.
And yes, it makes sense to have her start with lower dollar items that don’t need much specialized knowledge.
I agree that a fancy brand would most likely label every part. Maybe try plugging it in and see what kind of sound it records.

My bad. I didn’t see that I could scroll through all those photos. Maybe you can screw it on one of those little table tripods, so you could pick up audio from a group of people having a conference call.
Like this: https://www.microphones.com/microphone.cfm?urlid=MonoTripod
To me, It just looks like a mic that you use for your computer. To have web chats or conference calls.
Martin has recent post that describes the harassment that he’s begun to get from police.
Pickers and the police
Seems like people are starting to recognize him. I guess he’s becoming “that dude who goes through out trash”.I understand why people wouldn’t want someone going through their trash at the end of the driveway. But then again, it seems insane that people consistently through away incredible, valuable, useful stuff.
The fact that a person cant even call for a donation pickup makes me pro-scavenger.
