The non-Americans in this chat are thinking “what a freaking crazy health care system the yanks have”.
Yeah, but ours is being run by the likes of Typhoid Dido.
Maybe ultra-strength Vitamin D tablets. I’ve got 75 mg. ones; seems to be a run on them in the UK.
As far as I know, all stuffed toys sold in the EU have to have labels stating what they’re made out of. I’ve just checked Basil the Steiff toad, and he has a yellow label (and button) on his leg, and he is 60% acrylic and 40% cotton, and he is from Western Germany. Didn’t know he was that old!
So if Papa Nose-Hair doesn’t have a label, it suggests to me he’s from the New World- maybe an artisan production.
Very nice. No idea. I’ve just been out for a walk with a friend and we saw a book on the German artist Hundertwasser in a thrift shop window (UK’s on total lockdown until December, so all thrift shops are closed). These masks kind of remind me of his work, but not as crazy! 🙂
Let’s go Olde-Tyme Music Hall!
Hold Your Hand Out You Naughty Friday
Think I’ve worked out what’s happened. It seems sometimes a post shows in the pop-up preview but not in the main section or in the contributor’s history.

Is anyone else having problems seeing Daysi’s second post? I’ve tried two browsers, clearing the cache etc.
Hi Daysi, the link to the image isn’t working. How to upload a photo.
Thanks! I suppose if it were spelt like it is spoke, it’ll be “hewmer” 🙂
(reads post, doesn’t know what toile means, looks it up, learns another fact which unfortunately pushes a previously-learnt fact out of brain) Aha! Apparently toile means cheap cloth used for test patterns in UK/Australia, or cloth with a repeating pattern in USA. Can be sold to people making throw pillows. Thinks hmm… nice bag! Notices example of ‘man-spreading’ on left. 🙂
The quality of Charles’ writing seems to belie his reported laziness and limited education. What a waste to die of disease at the age of 19.
Hi Sharyn- thanks, I’ll check that out.
I had a late delivery ding for an item that took 5 days; I realised last night that the clock on these ‘5 days’ started ticking the moment I paid for delivery, and maybe I should hold off doing that until just before I go to the post office.
I suppose if I posted an item, waited a couple of days and then purchased delivery off eBay at the minimum letter rate of 65 pence, I’d get happy shiny metrics.
I’d go with Temudgin’s answer- it’s a lot more interesting!
I think the offer option on auctions, which disappears with the first bid, could be useful. I’ve made a couple of sales through that- there’s a risk that the offer may be less than what the auction would have achieved, but I think in a narrow specialised market field it may be a useful tool. Have an idea of what the going rate is for the item, set the initial bid level high enough to discourage the casual bidder, and wait.
