These only took 1 day to sell. Found them randomly on Saturday at an estate sale of a collector/borderline hoarder. At least their collection was very nicely displayed, albeit on every inch of their house walls, ceiling, every flat surface, and more. They were just sitting there on a dresser, maybe they were in a drawer. I could date them by the logos, colors, and that the helmets only had one face mask bar – by 1970, the NFL required helmet logos to have 2 bars on the face masks. Didn’t make as much as expected on this, sold for $130 after buying for $55 at the estate sale of the longtime secretary of the 9th Infantry Division Association. He lived in Weehawken, right next to me in Hoboken, NJ. At the same sale, bought this, a one star general flag, a flag from the Philadelphia Quartermasters, and also a bunch of memorabilia from the Association. -

This is a pretty handmade vintage bowl from Cava in Italy. I bought it in an online auction lot of many decorative items. I assigned it a cost of $1 and sold it for $50:

Yes Brian, I’ve noticed your location, but never said anything. I actually went to Stevens, so I am familiar with Hoboken. I don’t get up there very often these days. Whenever you say something about space constraints, I think about the row houses / townhouses that are so common there. I assume you have a place like that.
The Italian bowl was something I bought from an online auction in Rahway last September. I spent a huge amount of money there, but I bought tons of great stuff. It’s part of my “pipeline”.

Hey, I’m back! I’ve had a wicked busy last few months. It’s been mostly good. I’ve kept filming my sales, but I couldn’t find the time to edit them into videos once thanksgiving and the holidays hit. So here’s a couple what sold videos I put together over the last week.

It was a very good week for me. Here are some highlights…
I bought a box lot of costume jewelry for $45. One item was a WW2 trench art bracelet. It wasn’t as fancy as some other ones on ebay, but they were selling for a lot. I decided on an auction format. Started it out at $30 and it rose to $54 by the end.
WW2 Trench Art BraceletAt a thrift store here in town, I spotted some of our local hockey team bobbleheads for a dollar each. I should have bought them all, but found a few that I recognized. I sold two to the same buyer. I priced them high at $65 each and he paid full price for both. Not a bad sale!

Bobblehead 2Here’s an interesting sale. I recently purchased a metal mail sorting desk for my office. Paid $12 on an online auction site. Picked it up, brought it home and started cleaning it up. Inside the drawer was a key that didn’t go to the desk. I did some research and found out that it was a key to a postal office mail bag. I put it up for auction and it sold for $51!
U.S. Postal Mail Bag KeyI sold a really neat carved coconut mask. It came in a box lot and came to about $1.70. I’ve seen the generic coconut masks at run-of-the-mill souvenir shops at beaches, but this was different. It was really unique. So I priced it high and took a best offer of $40.
Vintage Coconut Mask CarvingFinally, I wanted to show by best sale of the week. I wrote on Monday about a Korean silk and paper doll book. I didn’t think it was worth anything. It, too, came in a box lot and came to about $4.25. I threw it up as an auction starting at $10 and it sold for $356!

Wheeling in the house! My family is from the greater Pittsburgh area – from Monroeville on the east all the way to Steubenville on the west. My parents grew up in Weirton, just north of you. I remember going to Wheeling as a kid for the Christmas light festival. It was always a treat.
Anyway, amazing amazing sales! Love the trench are bracelet and that silk book is something like I’ve never seen (or at least noticed).

Hey! It’s good to hear from someone local. Pittsburgh is great. I make a trip there about once a month or so to scavenge. And I was just in Weirton last weekend for dinner.
Yeah, that silk book was certainly a surprise! From what I understand, I think the mix of Korean culture and Christian religion is a hot issue which was probably what made it desirable. I wish I knew more about it, but I was happy with the end price.

Here are some notable sales from the past couple weeks.
Found a large lot of various brands of used metal cassettes along with a mic and some audio effects for a grand total of $20 at a sale a while back and have made hundreds off the haul. Someone bought a box of ten Sony tapes I had on sale for $119, and also an additional 5 tapes for a total of $180:

That Halloween mask going to Tiffany – I’ve never seen them use anything like that in a display or window, doesn’t seem to be “on brand”. Maybe it is simply for an employee?

I have had a rough week with almost no sales on either ebay or etsy–and some thorny customer issues on top of that.
Here is a new one, I bought a very cool American Indian piece at an online auction for $10 that they misdescribed, they contacted me today asking me if I still wanted it (oh hell yes!) It is not my problem that they didn’t describe it right…sigh…
