I am still fast forwarding through podcasts looking for the one where J&R discussed getting charged full retail price for under weight package (anyone know which podcast it was?) Has anyone else had notifications? Does the email tell you where it was going and how much off you were in your weight/payment?

Do you mean over weight? J&R mention getting charged for over weight, but not under weight.

Yes…we pay less than what the USPS determines.

If you’re logged into eBay, go to this link:
http://www.ebay.com/ship/lmng
It should show you any items that you under or overpaid.For instance, we had an issue a couple weeks ago;
Underpaid adjustment: $5.98 (Charge pending)
Reason: Service printed on label didn’t match service used
Shipping service on label: USPS – USPS First Class Package
Actual shipping service: USPS – USPS Priority Mail Package -

Wow, that’s a lot more information than I thought they’d give. Jay, do you remember what episode you talked about it?

This is the ebay page link about Postage Payments which might be helpful.

that last charge i got really sucked because i’m not sure there is a way to dispute it. had an item that weighed exactly 16 oz on my scale, so i was able to send it 1st class, but they’re saying it was .1 off so they charged me the next rate up. how do you dispute it? i guess you can’t.

I wonder if they got you, because 15.9 oz actually gets printed on the label..
When I’m that close on weight, I won’t rely on the 150 lb scale. I use the smaller one to double check. I think it’s more accurate with weights less then 1 lb.
Hopefully this is just a fluke and doesn’t turn into a regular thing from the Post Office.

Is everyone getting an email when there is a shipping cost discrepancy? I went to the link Jay provided, and it says at the top “Some of your shipping labels have cost adjustments”, but there is nothing listed under the Shipping Labels Cost Adjustments tab. Am I missing something?

We’ve had four cost adjustments and had an email message for each one. If they dont have any listed on your page, I assume you’re good.

Just stumbled across this information today purely by accident…apparently there is a way to appeal these charges:
“If you’ve received an adjustment on your postage and believe that it’s incorrect, you can contact U.S. Postal Service® Customer Care at 1-844-819-5187 or verifypostagehelp@usps.gov. Generally, you can expect a response within 5-15 business days.”

In just received an Email that I’m getting a shipping adjustment (my first) on a package. I paid for 3 lbs and actual weight is 1 lb. They’re giving me back $4.40.
In know for a fact that package weighed 2.5 lbs.
No, I’m not going to get on the phone and try to correct them. With my luck, they’ll misunderstand and charge me $4.40, instead of understanding the postage was correct.
Obviously the system has some issues. If anything changes, I’ll post it.
