we are considering turning on Free Returns since, essentially, you cannot fight INAD cases anymore. i have business policies turned on, so does anyone know how i do the free returns?
do i just make a new Return Policy and say 30 days, Seller pays? or is the option not there yet? thanks! -

It is my understanding the Free Returns feature with the option for domestic and/or international does not come out until May 1st.

Not sure on the eBay direct side, but I would think so.
On SixBit, I did this over the weekend (started earlier this month, but did the mass change this weekend). Our Returns area of the listing now shows
Returns Accepted is checked
Items returned in “30 days”
Refund is “Money Back”
Return shipping paid by “Seller”
Restocking Fee is “None” -

I did make a policy with free returns for one item I have listed. It was pretty straight forward. You would just change the returns paid to “seller”.
If you are going to change all your items, then you would just modify your existing return policy. Otherwise, you would create a new policy with free returns and then have to move all the items you wanted over. Alternately, you would move the non-free return items to a new policy, and then change the old one. Whichever would be the least amount of work.

For us, we kept 2 policies, one for free returns, one for buyer paid returns. Higher weight items are not given free returns.
I used SixBit to sort by weight and make the mass change.

I checked the returns business policy on eBay directly, and it is the same as what I showed above on SixBit. Just put that returns would be paid by the seller.

Return policies are being amended by eBay starting May, but the Free Returns requirement is only required from June 1st.

Just so you know you have a little more time to get there. It’s possible that part of the May restructuring will introduce a new returns option, per their list of five. I’m waiting to see if it does before I make my changes.

So to be clear, no one has seen where you turn on “Free Returns”? This is the only oage that I can find: https://pages.ebay.com/seller-center/seller-updates/2018-spring/seller-protection.html
”Starting June 1, 2018, when you offer free returns, you’ll have greater control to manage your business, and you can decide to issue partial refunds to buyers. For example, if a buyer uses or damages an item and returns it, you can decide to issue a partial refund and we’ll take it from there. If a buyer escalates a case, we’ll take care of it for you so you can focus on your business. Plus, we’ll protect your reputation from any negative feedback.”
Until then, returns have become a pain in the ass because there’s no way to dispute any reason. Seems like a weird gray area that eBay has created.

To offer “Free Returns”, just change the toggle to say that Seller Pays Return Shipping instead of Buyer Pays Return Shipping on that listing.

Is this the official way to join “Free Returns”? I thought it’d be like “guaranteed shipping” where you had to opt in.
Are you offering “Free Returns” right now? If so, do they put a badge on on your items to advertise this benefit?

Jay,
I have one listing with free shipping & free returns. That information is shown on the listing along with FAST N FREE and top rated plus. I haven’t sold any of these pants yet (listed for maybe two weeks), but the information is there.

Yep, that is how you do Free Returns. Just like Free Shipping, just turn it on for the listing.
We started turning these on about a month ago. Only had 2 clothing items so far. No big deal.
Yes, when you see us in the search results list, it shows “Free Returns”

AND you can search on ebay by Free Returns, there is a click box on the left sidebar now

Yep. That little box on the left has always been a potential lure for me to offer free shipping on clothing. To see if there is a higher STR on clothing when I offer Free Shipping. It didn’t appear to change a couple of years ago when I went from Free Shipping to charging a flat rate for shipping.
But that Siren Song is always in my ear…
I still may run an experiment with it, but would not offer Best Offer and the pricing would be solid.
