We had a decent week of sales but most were around $30, but it felt great seeing that people are still purchasing random items we’ve had listed for mu

Focus for the week : Still trying to get my new storage unit organized and get the rest of what I what out of the basement and to the storage unit. It is sometimes a pain having to go to the unit when things sell, but I know this is my only way to grow like I want to.
Scavenge of the week: Found a vintage Super 8mm Film Metal Case with reels inside for cheap.
Thoughts for the week: I have listed nearly 1500 items on ebay since May and I think that is now paying off for me. Let the busy season begin! I think it is going to be a good year for us all.

Hey @ Mark S. I am serious collector of 8mm films. I don’t need the case but am very interested in the movies. Let’s discuss. I take the films and reedit them for an instagram feed – check it out here (you can message me directly there).

debitendcredits,
They were just the reels, no movies. I came across another one yesterday, same thing, case with reels and no film\movies.
I was wondering what I would do with film if it were in there. I will keep you in mind if I find some with film.

Number of items listed this week: 44I usually don’t have a huge jump in 4th quarter, but I also don’t usually have summer type weeks either. On top of slow sales, I have a $79 return that was my highest sale from last week.
The quiet week did give me more time to list, though. I decided to finish up a large lot of jewelry that a family friend gave me to sell on consignment after his wife passed away over two years ago. These should give me some boost during the holidays as these are probably the more “giftable” items in my inventory.

Like Jay I sold a bunch of randomness from months/years ago. Weird to think that a normal ebay week for me now more than covers a month’s utility bill. It’s magic!!

Wow, that was a banner week for me! I felt like I was buried in boxes there for a while. Packing the glass Christmas ornaments is coming easier, but I feel I should check the destination addresses before packing. I had 2 lots of antique ornaments headed overseas through the GSP this week, and I might have double boxed or packed better knowing they had such a trip ahead of them. I paid attention last week and sure enough of the 18 sold 2 went overseas, 2 to CA and all the rest went east of the Mississippi. For once I was lucky and the only free shipping item went to CA but I had LOTS of buyers paying $10+ shipping – for first class packages containing in some cases one glass ornament!
I am a rule-follower, since USPS says no tape over the barcode I spend the time to tape those labels in a picture frame and make sure the printing is clear, my giggle for the week was a package I received from a hasty shipper who had streaked the label when printing then just put jagged, wrinkled strips of tape – over the barcode. USPS does a good job getting stuff to it’s intended destinations!
This week I plan to list lots more Christmas decorations and ornaments, perhaps finishing up the box so I can start listing stuff that might make good presents next week. I have some neat stuff I am itching to list, but want to get time-sensitive stuff listed first. Congrats julesbijouxvintage on the feedback – every time my feedback hits a round number I cheer inside. Funny how I was so frustrated at how slow I wad getting feedback through 1499, then loved hitting the 1500 mark!

No huge sales this week, but still a steady stream of sales and enough to pay the bills and bring in a lot of new inventory. Can’t ask for anything more than that.
I’m interested to see how busy our eBay stores get over the next few weeks. I’m hopeful that we’ll see a nice eBay bucks promo, or even a coupon, for Black Friday next week.
11/7/2021 – 11/13/2021
Total items in store: 3505 (up from 3438)
Items sold: 53 (25 via best offer, 16 via seller initiated offer, 2 repeat buyers)
Gross sales: $2404.07 (up 51% from one year ago)
Net sales: $1667.23 (up 62% from one year ago)
Lowest price sold (net): $8.19 — Hoy Park Bowman Chrome 1st autograph
One of the interesting things about selling on eBay is that it connects you with buyers all over the world. In the card world, this is especially important since there is a pretty robust market for cards in Asia. Basketball cards (especially the rare valuable inserts from the 1990s) reach particularly wild prices, but on a more reasonable scale, there is a nice market for Asian players in all sports who make the pros in US sports leagues. Hoy Park is a South Korean player who was traded from the Yankees to the Pirates this year, and received his first opportunity in the big leagues. There was a brief flurry of interest when he played his first few games, but other than that prices vary and fluctuate, and it’s easy to make a few bucks on players like him simply by buying low and waiting for the right buyer.
Highest price sold (net): $113.44 — Mike Mussina 1/1 Topps Archives autograph
Topps Archives is one of the modern sets where you receive just 1 card, an autograph, in each box. Your card’s value is entirely based in the quality of player and serial number. Mike Mussina was an excellent and popular pitcher for the Yankees and Orioles in the 1990s, and his autographs hold value because of that.
I bought a pair of his 1/1 Archives autographs on Reddit a few months ago from someone who opened a ton of boxes of the product and made a lot of posts selling them off. My first and probably only purchase on Reddit. I paid less than $100 for the pair, and sold each one for over $100. It’s strange that so many card buyers and sellers are opposed to using eBay when that’s where the most buyers are, but I’m happy to make a few bucks in the process. From what I understand, there is a lot of card selling activity on other social media platforms like Facebook Marketplace and Instagram. But I try and avoid social media as much as possible for mental health reasons. Even if there’s profit there, I’m happier sticking with eBay.

New items listed: 19Another nice week of sales. My biggest sale of the week was cool for me due to a connection to you, Jay and Ryanne. I sold some stained glass on Facebook Marketplace out of concern for breakage and the buyer drove all the way from Luray to pick it up. I asked if she was familiar with the cafe and she said she knows you guys and her daughter works at your cafe. I told her to say hi for me. She had nice things to say about the both of you and the cafe. I think the term “Movers and Shakers” was used. 🙂
Just under half of the sales were Christmas related items. Sold several more of the vintage ceramic display items, many of which are selling within a few days of posting. Two sales for for listings that had been up for over 1400 days. Had a few other cool sales including a set of 3 letters from 1888 on letterhead from an old NY brewery ($42), an old French cook book ($95), and a pair of my old Keen shoes ($45).
Coolest item was an antique chromolithograph print that I found behind another antique print. I was taking the picture apart to confirm the first was really an antique and the other print was there for backing. It was a landscape by a William Chandler and actually more attractive than the one on display. It was stained at the edges, but I found some good comps so posted it for $99 just to see. I took an offer of $56 as it had been up for over 2 years.

I have a guess who it may be but not sure. What a very small world. That’s a long drive to your house!

Number of items listed this week: 7FINALLY a week I feel good about. Funny thing, ebay had a problem last week where we couldn’t see sold items, inventory, etc. My sales went up during that glitch!
Most everything that sold came in estate auction box lots that I pick up for a couple dollars at our local auction house. The Jade East was inside an English Leather Gift Set Box. Never been opened. I’m guessing a gift that was put away and forgotten.
I agree, nothing like having to disperse an estate and all it’s “stuff” to make you realize that most of us have way too much stored around us. I read somewhere, “that item you are sticking in a closet because you don’t use it, is not going to get used more, get rid of it” A good philosophy for me to hear.
