Gut Sales Report for the week: Sales were slow, but consistent. Nearly identical to last week.
Focus for the week : Working on coding my cross-listing and other projects.
Scavenge of the week: Just normal stuff.
Thoughts for the week: I became an Etsy Star Seller on March 1st. Only .5% of Etsy sellers are Star Sellers, so it’s kinda a big deal. But, it didn’t really help. As LukasTreasure stated, Etsy sales were non-existant.

Number of new items listed: 26A busy week listing but getting nickels and dimes for sales. I had some interest in higher value items and sent out lots of offers, to no avail. I’ve been using promoted listings for a while at the “recommended” percentage (what does that even mean, when there is no specific measurable action eBay must take to earn it?) but the last couple weeks I have tried waiting at least a couple days to promote a new listing. That way if someone’s got a search out for the item and it sells right away, I haven’t paid the extra to promote. I’m rethinking that now since only a couple all my new listings this week have gotten any views at all yet, and most of those just one view. Correlation does not equal causation, I know.
I also don’t allow best offer right away for most items, so that person who’s been looking for that exact thing will pay full price hopefully. If someone wants it badly enough but my price is too far off, they can always email me and ask, which has happened.

I only promote items quarterly. That gives me 90 days to sell items before I start promoting them.

@Temudgin – I do basically the same regarding waiting to promote and to allow offers. I usually wait two weeks, I figure that is enough to allow someone with a search to find and ponder at the original price.
I cap my promoted listings at 5%. I’ve noticed that the recommended percentage is very fluid and changes regularly for categories. Lately, I’ve noticed that a smaller percentage of my items sell via promoted listings. It used to be I averaged about 60% of sales were promoted, but now I average around 40%. Wonder if that is unique to me or if others see the same.

Number of items listed this week: 12Slow sales here. Did not list until the end of the week. I’m hearing on a podcast that sales are significantly slower for them even though using promotions, coupons and the works.
The rummage sales dormant during Covid are all popping up here at once. I did attend but had a few talks with myself while there. The first chat was about how I can always find more things to sell, even things that are easy to list with barcodes. For example, I passed on a Toyota cargo net, some new in box Costco stuff, etc. I just am not excited about listing that stuff. My store has been getting a little more generic and I have mixed feelings about that. I also found some vintage tablecloths with stains. I have a number of these on hand and those 60 year old stains are pretty tough to beat. I made myself put them back and someone else quickly scooped them up. I mainly am talking to myself about my time being valuable and what I want to put up in my store. Not to mention the piles.
This week some personal stuff should calm down and I hope to complete all of the recent purchase pile next to my desk (two bankers boxes).
The rummage sale was charging $20 to get in an hour early. Totally worth it for me as a scored some new in package items and some vintage. It’s been raining a lot here in California and all of the stuff was absolutely crammed outside under tents. It was super claustrophobic once everyone else got in and I checked out. I had to keep making rounds in the same tent to see everything. I noticed the hard core dealers refused to pay that high of an entrance fee.

On the same podcast they also mentioned that Ebay gross sales volume is down for the last quarter of 2024. They are making more money on fees but had lower sales last year, I believe they also said. Seemed like a net 2022. https://www.reuters.com/technology/ebay-forecasts-first-quarter-revenue-above-estimates-2023-02-22/

Sales seem to be slowing down, but a few high-value sales let me break my monthly y $1000 goal. So far, March has been very slow, almost halfway through the month and I’m only at about $350 in sales.

New Listings Value $2,750.95You know things are bad when even Jay and Ryanne’s sales are below $1000. I’m hoping for a stronger spring, but with these bank failures looming I’m waiting for the next shoe to drop.
I really had only 6 sales last week, but one sale was a combined sale where buyer asked for a deal if they bought 5 of my ornaments so I created a single listing for her and canceled the original 5. Third time this buyer has done that, and she promises to be back next month again. Listing so many ornaments at once I am starting to see more return buyers than I normally do. I guess you see that more when you specialize.
Had another week of family issues getting in the way of listing but managed to pull out my 20 items anyway. Value is way up as I listed a piece of art for $2000 – the Archangel Michael tile art that I posted about a while back. I hesitated to list it because it was so heavy and large. Really concerned about breakage, but finally decided to bite the bullet and list it anyway. That’s what insurance it for. I imagine it is going to take a while to sell.

I remember when you got a helper and went up to 8000. 9000 is impressive!
