Hi Everyone. I was just wondering if anyone else seems to have a “slump” in sales. I have about 2300 items mostly vintage clothing and I am top rated. Compared to last year at this time my sales were much higher. The past 2 days I only sold about 4 items. Does anyone else seem to have this same issue? Could this be due to the election coming up? I have been using this down time to list list list. Hopefully it will pick up soon!

It’s not just you. We’ve had some steady sales but all very low dollar items. I think its the election.
As you said, we’ve been listing like crazy though. Election will over on Tuesday and holiday season will really get going.

I agree, my sales seem quite sluggish. Had a burst of sales on Friday and have not sold anything yet today. Honestly, this whole fall season has been very hit or miss. My video game and electronics items sell well just as they always do but my other items such as hats, men’s shirts, shoes & housewares seem to be selling at a snails pace.

My sales absolutely TANKED for a week or two, leading up to last weekend. They’ve since normalized a bit. No crazy volume at this point, but staying steady.

Same as everyone else. Overall the month is looking good from one high dollar sale but we’re getting small bursts of sales then back to steady.

Sales are definitely slow. Life is busy and I don’t need ebay money right now, so I don’t sweat it too much. Keeping the listing going and I’m working on my storage this weekend. I’ve had 7 sales this week but two are still waiting on payment. Also got a return request from someone who “accidentally ordered the item”.

Yes, slow sales. Everything that sold was very low dollar, which was a little disheartening. The election, plus the World Series earlier in the week. Even *I* watched, and I don’t much care for baseball.

Looking back at my stats, the first week of November 2012 was very slow. The first week of November 2013 was better than normal. I guess it depends on what stock I had listed at the time, but it does seem to be an issue with elections. November 2008 was very bad, but that was also at the beginning of the Great Recession. That was a really dismal Q4. Had my worst December ever that year.
I’m not sure how this election is going to impact the overall Holiday season, but I am not overly optimistic about it this year. This October did beat last year’s October, but I don’t know if this November can recover enough to beat last November’s. Hopefully, December will be back to normal. At this point, I’m just hoping it evens out overall, at the very least.

Well, today we’ve sold almost $500 of items and it’s barely noon.
All we can do is list.
During the holiday season, the more we have listed, the more potential we have to make money. -

Like Jay, I’m having a great day so far. Two sales, for a total of $236. With that said, they’re more likely just anomalies than a sign of a trend, but it sure is a great way to start a day/week!

I hate that I have to keep going back to check on this forum topic but my sales have been abysmal the past 2 weeks. I think I had 1 this week and I have had only 2 low ball offers and no matter if I mark down inventory or offer free shipping on items- nothing seems to be helping.
I have 890 items in my store, and while that is not a whole lot of inventory i have been listing consistently and it doesn’t seem to be helping.
This November is really turning out to be a bummer.

Your experience is valid. Our month has been steady so far but nothing crazy. When will people buy again? Not sure. We did just get done with a pretty historic election with a very possibly unstable next four years. People are waiting to see.
That being said, feel free to post your store if you’d like some feedback.

It has been slow for me too and I do think it’s election related. The overall mood here on the coast is not great and the weather is warm to boot. Have you tried running sales or doing a couple of auctions?

Veeeeeeeerrrrryyy sllllooooooowww. Sales are half of normal on a similar stock compared to a year ago at this time. I had 4 sales on Sunday and 0 yesterday. 0 so far today. Normal sales are 5-12 a day.
I don’t know if this will even turn-around by December. A lot of Coasters might refuse to spend Christmas in the interior with their families. I’ve already seen talk of people skipping out on Thanksgiving when their families are split in such a way.
I have a feeling this Christmas might be a write-off unless you have a ton of Hatchimals and NES Classics.

I am having a similar experience. Last week was my 5th worst week for the year. I have 2100 +/- items listed and didn’t even crack $350. I tried a sale but didn’t sell anything from it. I am trying to focus on scavenging and listing. I’m sure things will pick up soon. November wasn’t gangbusters like I had anticipated last year either. December was my best month.

It’s been slow here as well – I’ve only been selling 5-7 items a week for a few weeks. I started a 3 day sale on Saturday. On Sunday I had 3 sales and I had 5 on Monday. I’m hoping it is the start of a trend due to the fact I have been listing more. I could definitely go for selling 5 items a day!
