Hey guys, I think I stumbled upon something new eBay is doing. I ended a couple of auctions that automatically relisted because I wanted to change them to buy it now and I came across a page I had never seen before.
The page title was “my eBay all selling” and it took me a minute to find this page by not going through the ended listings page but I found how to get to it. If you go to my eBay and hold your mouse over “activity” a dropdown menu will appear with a few options and “sell” is one of them. If you click on “sell” it will take you to the my eBay all selling page which is different from the seller hub and the active listings page you can access in seller hub.
On this page, it shows your active listings and has an option to “send offer to interested buyers.” I clicked it to see what the deal was and it turns out, you can send offers to watchers. Instead of them sending you an offer, you can send them one! Thought this was an interesting tidbit of information that I just happened to come across from a random circumstance. Don’t know if you guys had already known about this, but I hadn’t heard about it until today.

This is very cool. Though I’m not sure which page you found this. You can always copy/paste the URL. It’ll take each of us to right page if we’re logged in.
Is this the page you were on?
https://www.ebay.com/sh/lst/activeI think I remember someone saying eBay was going to roll this out to selective sellers over time. Does anyone else have this ability?

Here’s the page
I sent a few offers and now that I’ve done it a few times, I’m getting this message:
Some of the information wasn’t able to load. You may see more info the next time you come back.
The missing information just happens to be the items that had “send offer” on them. I noticed that it didn’t list all of my items with watchers, only a few. It was cool for the 5 mintues it lasted for me haha.

10/25/2018 at 10:27 am #50714
Okay, I just tried it again and the send offer option is back up! it’s showing more of my items with watchers now. I noticed the word “beta” is in the URL so maybe they’ve made this option live without telling anyone..
-
10/25/2018 at 10:46 am #50715
That’s really cool.
I used your link but I don’t have the option to send offers to watchers. Fingers crossed we all get it soon. -
10/25/2018 at 10:49 am #50717
I don’t see that option on my page. I did get the new My eBay beta page, but it didn’t have any options to send an offer. I’ll keep an eye out for it, though!
-
10/25/2018 at 11:44 am #50723
Hmm well, I only have 200 items in my store so maybe they’re testing this with smaller sellers first or something.
-
10/25/2018 at 2:02 pm #50747
I dont have that option to send offers to watchers. Let us know if any watchers accept your offer. Its a cool idea, but I could see how sellers would just spam watchers.
This could create a negative experience for buyers unless they could watch an item but make clear they dont want offers?
By the way, I notice there’s a banner on that page you linked to with that says: “Are you a professional seller? Check out Seller Hub for advanced tools.” So I wonder what that page is for?
-
10/25/2018 at 5:02 pm #50766
On eBay UK it’s “Are you a business seller?” Gives us the choice of running our businesses professionally or amateurishly.

A friend of mine who occasionally sells on Ebay, used this to send a bunch of offers and made 4 sales overnight. I just checked it out and it seems to only show 5 random items that it will allow you to do this for. I did send items for a couple of them, but the items with higher watch counts did not pop up as an option. I would imagine it would be more successful if there are 5+ watchers on an item.
Seems like a neat idea. It may get spammy, but if it leads to sales…
-
11/12/2018 at 6:50 pm #51587
Can the potential watcher counter the offer you send?
-
11/12/2018 at 7:21 pm #51589
I’m not sure, I didn’t have any responses from the offers I sent.

Wow, they’re following in the shoes of Poshmark, who unrolled something like this last year? Earlier this year? You can send offers to those who have liked an item there. I just clicked on the link above that you shared, and found I could send a few offers, so did. Will report back if they turn into anything. It doesn’t appear that counteroffers can be made; it’s just a one-time special deal sent to those who are currently watching your item.
-
11/12/2018 at 9:38 pm #51600
So I just tried it (thanks for the link above), and I just want to clarify something. Yes, it’s true that it only gives you five items to do this for, but that’s 5 *at a time*. Once you send an offer for one of the items it lists, it replaces that item with another one you can send offers for. So just now I sent out offers for 15-20 items. And already (in less than 1 hour) I already have one sale (for $115).
So, so far I like this feature as a way to:
a) remind watchers about this item of mine they’ve expressed interest in. In the past, there has just been guessing on our part about “when does ebay send reminder emails to people who have watched or viewed my items?” – do they do it when I list consistently? Or whenever I change something in the listing? Or put it on sale? Here’s a feature where I know for certain how many people are getting notified.b) put an item “on sale/markdown” for a very short period of time without the overhead of markdown manager and without having to figure out a percentage reduction that will work for all listings I want to put on sale.
c) For my “best offer” items with a high “buy it now” price, a way to reach customers who aren’t the “make offer” types. I certainly know from my own buying experience that one can get paralyzed by process of figuring out a starting offer that isn’t so low as to annoy the buyer, but low enough so that I feel like I’m getting a good deal.
-
11/12/2018 at 9:40 pm #51601
oh, and also
d) I think getting a time-limited semi-exclusive offer instills more urgency in the buyer than a sale or price reduction.
-
11/12/2018 at 10:25 pm #51604
Just tried it. Sent out five offers for now. Might produce some sales, might not, but can’t hurt to try…
-
11/13/2018 at 12:32 am #51609
Yes, this is a beta test. I was invited to join, but declined. I am also getting messages from Ebay suggesting that I drop my price on a wallet by $2.00. I wish they would focus on more important topics! 🙂

@millionairedojo. Thanks for sharing. This is a prominent tool on Mercari. I’m trying it on EBay, though they only are giving me the same 5 items without new ones replacing offered ones. This would be a great addition to Ebay. I’ve also been lowering prices on items in carts when I get those emails, but only a few times has that resulted in sales.
-
11/13/2018 at 8:33 am #51619
Yesterday, I made five offers. A few of the items have make offer available. I received a low bid for one of the items I sent out. I countered $10 less than my original, so I don’t think I’m going to make a deal here. But, at least I have some action. We’ll see if anything else happens.
-
11/15/2018 at 1:25 pm #51760
This is still a pilot program and not available to everyone.
I know several eBay employees and they confirmed this when I asked them about it.It will be interesting to see how effective this is in converting watchers to buyers.
-
11/15/2018 at 4:27 pm #51772
I sent about 20-25 offers and got 5-6 sales. So I’m really loving this feature and wish it would allow me to do more soon. It stopped replenishing the list of items I could make offers on.
-
11/15/2018 at 6:29 pm #51777
I need to go back and send as many offers as I can and see if I get any sales. Haven’t tried sending any recently.
-
-
11/15/2018 at 5:49 pm #51773
I have it now!
ETA – it doesn’t always show up. Sometimes I have to refresh the page multiple times before I’m able to send more offers.

I’m not sure who it was, but someone on here gave some advice on offers a few months ago that I’ve been using successfully.
Their theory was instead of making an offer to one buyer, tell them you are going to lower the price instead. Why only lower the price for one buyer, when you can lower it for all? If you are willing to accept less, why not for everyone?
I’ve been using this tactic lately – and almost everyone buys the item immediately. I believe they get “scared” that someone else will buy it now that the price is lowered for everyone. I’ve also had a couple people jump in and buy the item before the person who asked for a lower price does.
I like doing it this way – and if I’m willing to part with an item for a lower price, I don’t really care who buys it…
And I wish I could thank who suggested this – as it works for me!

If someone makes an offer, can you edit the listing? I thought that eBay locked the listing if there’s an active offer?
-
11/17/2018 at 9:07 pm #51881
Jay,
No, you cannot edit the listing if you have an active offer out to a watcher using this feature.I’m continuing to get sales using this feature. And I like not having to lower the listing price to do it – I like to leave that high for a while.

11/16/2018 at 10:04 am #51797
I tried this today. I sent out 15 offers and then ebay quit populating the list. These were all very old items – I can tell from the photos. I’ll update if I sell any. I made the offers pretty good since they were old items.
-
11/16/2018 at 10:43 am #51801
I sent out 20+ offers last night and no sales yet.
I ended and sell similar a few 18+ month items yesterday and one of those sold, so that’s something.
@inglewood – I’ve decided to take the same tactic too. Partly because I’ve had 2 buyers message me and ask if I would accept a lower offer, I sent them an offer through messages and they weren’t able to figure out how to accept it. It could be a self selecting group since neither one sent an actual offer but a message instead or it could be more confusing than I realize since I’ve never received an offer through messages as a buyer. -
11/16/2018 at 11:11 pm #51830
So I’ve been using the feature where you can send an offer to a buyer who has sent you a message about a particular item. I usually send the offer when it’s an item that’s been in inventory for a long time and I’m willing to lower the price significantly. I have not had a lot of takers. I’ve pretty much stopped doing it as my sales have ticked up and almost all my 1000+ listings have Best Offer on them.
Now…I occasionally get those messages from eBay that say “These items have watchers, lower the price and make the sale”. I thought, great, I can use this link and do a quick automatic lowering of the price and be on my way. No…it simply sends you to the revise page of each item. You have to go thru the revision process for each item. I have had NO sales from lowering the price in people’s watch list or even on the ones that have items in their shopping carts. And the other down side is that once you’ve lowered the price, if you want to bring it back up to the original price, you have to go thru the revise page again. IMHO, it’s not worth the time spent. My best results overall for the last 18+ years is 1) put Best Offer on everything over $30.00 and 2) periodically end listings that are not moving and relist as “sell similar”. These two methods seem to produce the best results (for me, at least).
I will be curious to try this new offer tactic when it’s available and see if it’s a keeper!

jumbleandclutter,
Did you try clicking on the link below that OP provided to see if you get the feature?https://www.ebay.com/mys/overview?MyEbayBeta&CurrentPage=MyeBayNextAllSelling&ssPageName=STRK%3AME%3
Sometimes the “Send Offer To Buyers” section doesn’t come up, and you have to refresh a few times to get it, or even try later.
-
11/17/2018 at 8:32 am #51837
When you;re on that page, where does the “send offer to buyers” pop up if you have it enabled. We must not have that feature because I dont see it.
-
11/17/2018 at 8:40 am #51840
It’s right at the top for me. It shows a few of my listings and has a send offer button over to the right of the page. I sent a bunch of offers yesterday and had one sale.
After I sent the offers it took me to a page that had a link that said “do you like sending offers” and I clicked on that and it was a review page. Gave it 5 stars and wrote in the comment section that it would be good to give the buyers the option to not receive offers like you mentioned so we aren’t spamming them.

There’s also a link to this page on the page it takes me to after sending offers, but I didn’t see anything about sending offers to watchers when I skimmed through it.

For me, it first shows the items I need to ship. I didn’t see the send offer option when I first clicked on the link until I scrolled down a page or two. I guess I had a lot to ship at the time!
-
11/17/2018 at 10:44 am #51860
Thanks! Now I can see five items we can send offers can. (We also have a lot to ship)
–Has anyone had a buyer counter offer using this process?
–Does this feature show up on the main Seller Hub? (https://www.ebay.com/sh/ovw)

11/17/2018 at 11:39 am #51861
Earlier this week, I sent offers on the five or so things that were available on my page. I did not sell any of the items, but I did get a low ball offer on one of them. I’m guessing that it was one of the watchers that received my best offer. It did not show up as a counter-offer, so I assume that he/she had to go back to the original listing to make the offer.
I’m pretty sure this does not show up on the main Seller Hub. I believe this is a future upgrade. We only know about it because millionairedojo happened to stumble upon it and then created this topic.
-
11/17/2018 at 1:04 pm #51863
Jay, This IS showing up in Seller Hub, but it’s a gradual roll out. And I think the Seller Hub version may be a little more sophisticated (I don’t have it yet, everyone should have it eventually, probably sometime in early 2019.)
-
11/17/2018 at 6:16 pm #51874
I dont see it in the Seller Hub yet. Just in this parallel “My eBay Selling Overview”:
https://www.ebay.com/mys/overview?MyEbayBeta&CurrentPage=MyeBayNextAllSelling&ssPageName=STRK%3AME%3
I didnt even know that page existed before.Im wondering when they put this new feature on the actually Seller Hub:

Thank you millionairedojo for bringing this update to my attention! I see that have it and I just sent an offer this morning, got a lower offer back on the item, and met in the middle ($55.00) with my counter. So I sold the item for $15 less than it was originally listed for. I’d had it listed for months, and I have quite a few similar items still to list so I’m happy it sold!
For everyone who hasn’t seen it, here is the info which I found under Seller Hub Updates for Active Listings on ebay at https://community.ebay.com/t5/Announcements/Seller-Hub-Updates-for-Active-Listings/ba-p/29158673
“Make Offers to Watchers:
Sellers have reached out to us asking for the ability to make offers to Watchers, AKA potential buyers who are watching their items. We heard you, and we’re making it happen. With this new feature, you’ll have another tool to help close potential sales.
Like our other new feature, we’re testing this one out with a small group of sellers to ensure a great experience for everyone involved. If testing goes well, we plan to make this feature available to all sellers in the coming months.
If you are in our test group, here’s how to try this new feature. Select Offer to Watchers on your active listings page to see your eligible listings. Don’t forget to check each page of your active listings to see which ones are eligible. After you make an offer, you’ll see Offer sent next to the listing. We’ve also ensured that there are checks in place so buyers aren’t overwhelmed with multiple offers from different sellers.
We’re excited to roll out these new features with the goal of continuing to make the selling experience more efficient and effective. If you have any feedback, we’d love to hear it.
Thank you,
The eBay Selling Team”I guess I should start reading the ebay updates as I had no idea that I had this option available until I read millionairedojo’s post.

You’re welcome! It’s a cool little feature

I used the link posted above and was finally able to see a few of my items that qualify. Boy, that interface is chunky and looks like a kids bulletin board.
Anyway- Sent a few offers out on what was available! I will report back. -
11/17/2018 at 5:22 pm #51869
Millionairedojo – thank you for posting that link! That is a cool “hack” – It was able to work for me (even though I don’t have the new seller overview page yet.) I sent out as many offers as I could late last night – I was aggressive at 50% off. One lady sent me an offer back this morning which was 50% off of my 50%! (It showed up as an offer and not a counter – so I am not sure what method she used to send the offer, but I recognized her user id). I have had these shoes since 2015 and so I accepted … and nothing so far… after checking her feedback.. I can tell it is a “Grumpy Old Woman” who has a very high percentage of returns and negative feedback left.. oh boy… I don’t have a great feeling about this $15 sale… but we’ll see… I felt a little strange sending unsolicited offers to buyers. Did you guys leave a personalized message? I just left a generic “Thank you for your interest…” I can see some people getting offended and annoyed or suspicious that this is some kind of phishing scam, though… Hope some of these pan out for everybody. Keep us posted.
-
11/17/2018 at 5:40 pm #51870
Yeah, no problem! I’ve only sold one thing from it and gave a 50% off offer on the item that sold.
If I were a watcher and received an offer from the seller, I’d think it was cool! I’m not a grumpy buyer though lol
-
-
11/17/2018 at 6:53 pm #51878
When we drop a price, sometimes buyers get an email (I know I do) – “ABC is now $10 less!” – I prefer this method over Offers to watchers.
I think like anything it will take a year for it to be buyer habit and then they will start expecting discount messages as soon as they click “WATCH” much like Poshmark buyers.
-
11/17/2018 at 7:44 pm #51879
One thing I’ve noticed (I’m using the workaround, don’t have the Seller Hub version) is that ebay tells me how many watchers are on the item, and then how many watchers are getting the offer. I’ve had some with 4 watchers, only 1 was sent the offer. I’m not sure how ebay decides this, but I think it might help reduce the “buyer habit” of watching and waiting for the discount….the fact that the buyer might not be the one to get the discount might mean the buyer will make an offer up front, or will learn not to wait, but to buy.
-
11/19/2018 at 11:01 am #51935
I did not get any bites on the offers I sent out Friday.
I just went to try some more items…but the recommended items are items I already made offers on. There is no history associated with the previous offer to know what I offered or when.
Ugh…..this is gonna be SUPER spammy as Jay suspected.
-
11/19/2018 at 6:14 pm #51999
Well, I found the page and sent offers for 4 of the 5 items that showed up. There was one that I don’t want to take a markdown on just yet. My offers were 10%-15% off the BIN price. We’ll see what happens. The number of watchers that it notified seems kind of arbitrary – For one item, it notified all 3 watchers, but the rest just went to one watcher. If I actually make a sale, I’ll report back.
-
11/19/2018 at 7:49 pm #52003
I noticed that until I printed out mailing labels for all my orders awaiting shipment my offers to watchers didn’t repopulate. I wonder if that’s a thing or just a coincidence?
Once I printed the labels (like Retro Treasures WV reported) the items that popped up for me to send offers to watchers on ARE some of the same items I’d already sent offers on. And I have no idea if I sent offers twice to the same watcher or not. No matter how many watchers I have it seems to send the offer to only 1 watcher on each item. I couldn’t remember what price I offered on the first go round – yikes, I think I’ll look pretty dumb if I just sent the same watcher a higher offer 2 days after sending a lower offer 🙁 I’m hoping eBay is just allowing me to now send a offer to another watcher, but I think I only had one watcher on one of the items I sent 2 offers on… I like the concept but I hope it’s been thought through before it was offered!
-
12/21/2018 at 4:50 pm #53854
Just noticed on my active listings page that I can set a filter to show the listings that are eligible to send offers to watchers. Once I set that filter, I’m able to click where it says “eligible for offers” and that takes me to the send offer to watcher page.
-
12/21/2018 at 6:22 pm #53857
Can you take a screen shot? I’m on our Active Listings and do not see any place to filter our only listings where we can send offers.
-
-
12/21/2018 at 5:25 pm #53855
Interesting. I think I saw that before, but didn’t investigate it at that time. According to the information bubble that comes up, the eligible items follow the following rules:
Eligibility to send offers to watchers is determined by a number of factors including listing with Best Offer, quantity, listing duration, and rules that manage the number of offers buyers receive.
