I maintain a strict professional communication protocol with my ebay business……most of the time.
Today I couldn’t help myself, but I at least made it appear professional!I have an item that I listed last month and I’ve had two lowballers try to talk me out of the item in the guise of “doing me a favor”. I figure the second one is actually another account of the first one, so likely the same person. They made me a very insulting shipping included offer through messages to which I politely declined.
Then they sent me this response:
Let me know when you’re tired of it taking up your space there then.I considered a couple options: telling them I’d rather burn it, telling them to pound sand, simply not responding.
In the end I created this beauty I’m pretty proud of:
Thank you for your concern of my mental state in regards to my inventory storage management system. I really appreciate it. I can assure you that storage of this item does not weigh on my mind at all and will not for the foreseeable future.Be sure to check out the rest of my store to see if there are any other things you may be interested in unburdening me of.
Thanks and have a great day.

Anybody else have some good tongue in cheek responses to “trouble buyers”?

I had a lady hassle me about some school books, telling me all the ways they don’t really meet her needs, but she *guesses* she could make them work *somehow* <insert big sigh here>. Since it really isn’t what she wants but she’s going to have to struggle to make it fit her life, all she could possible offer was $2 plus shipping, because <insert big sigh here> life is hard and my price should reflect the inconvenience she would struggle with in making this stuff work in her classroom. Also, she’s a teacher and children are the future, and won’t someone please think of the children?!
My response was something like “You should probably stop buying things that you don’t really want”.
And…blocked.

my favorite has to be “another seller has this for $x lower than yours” ok great. in that case, buy it from them. or “just bought the same one for $x” and gives a lowball offer. so you want another one?

Video game buyers are the worst at this.
I had one once low ball me twice and add this note on the 2nd:
“I can buy this all day for $10 at Walmart”I replied:
“Wow! That is a great deal. Sounds like you need to make a Walmart run.”Then they cussed me out and moved on. Lol.

This is so hilarious!! I’ve saved it in my notes in case I need I it some day. I put it right next to another similarly worded message someone posted to the forums a few weeks back. It starts “There is a high likelihood that you could be unsatisfied with this item.” I think that Mike from Atlanta posted it.

I mentioned this one before but it was so funny, it is worth repeating: A guy sent an unsolicited offer on a buy now item. He said if it did not sell he would pay me 33.00 which includes shipping and that was final! I thanked him and told him that if the item did not sell, I am donating it to charity. He immediately purchased the item full price plus shipping.
I had a lady who wanted to know if the item is from a nonsmoking home. She sent the same email in November, but I answered again. Then she wanted more pictures so I sent them and then she wanted MORE pictures which I told her I cannot do without damaging the item. She said could not buy the item (24.00) if she did not have the additional pictures… I told her I understood and thanked her for her interest.

I accepted a buyers best offer on an item that just barely fits into a medium flat rate box. She says nothing about the priority shipping cost probably because I only charge my actual postage of $12.05. So she is getting a great deal on the shipping. When I go to ship there is a note to seller from the buyer “I do have the post office scan the postage to ensure I was not overcharged which is a common problem on eBay.” Comments?

When you print the label, select the option to “Display postage value on label”. And then block her.
She sounds like a real treat. I bet the post office loves dealing with her!

Let the comment go. It’s her issue and not yours. A back and forth about the shipping charge is not worth the time. You have done your due diligence so there is nothing else left to be done. She agreed to the shipping charge when she purchased the item. If she decides to return the item, I would offer to accept it, refund, block her and move on. I am sure you have too many other things going on, listings to create, and items to ship than to be bothered with someone who is letting you know that she is going to assume that you did something wrong before she even receives the package.

Thanks, I didn’t respond to her note as I didn’t have anything nice to say. I forgot to mention that there was no cheaper way to send the package and that the buyer lives on an estate with it’s own name in the most expensive suburb outside Chicago. (I used to live near there.) It is one of the highest priced housing markets in the USA! So glad I saved her a few dollars on postage – LOL!

I used to work in that part of Illinois. The clients were something else, lol.
I’m going to take a guess and say your buyer was from Winnetka.

Hey Liz, you are super close, you do know the ritzy northern suburbs well! It was actually (even more expensive) Barrington Hills… Thanks for your comments, it’s nice to have others understand!
