With many sellers dropping off the forum, including our listing challenge leader, Amatino, I thought that I would at least start a new post for 2026. The one for 2025 has become too long.
She had rules set for this section, but I’m not going to link to them since there are so few people participating. In general, you should post how many items you listed the previous week. They should be new or greatly updated listings somewhere on a reselling site. Do not count multiple items on a single listing.
I personally will probably not be posting often. I’ve been too busy with my “career” job, but I still have my store up and running.

My listing goal is to get to the point where I’m listing 50 to 70 new items per week. It will take me a while to get to that point, because I really need to improve my work space and listing process.
I’m hoping a steady flow of new listings will help to reduce any negative impact resulting from my decision to end Promoted Listings on the 12th (and I have not been promoting any new listings since the beginning of 2026.
If my sales absolutely crash, I can always start advertising again.
I’m hoping 2026 will be a good year, but I think we’re going to be facing some real challenges as competition heats up and as AI advances, all of this within an uncertain economy.
But here’s hoping the New Year manages to bring us prosperity despite all that!

@mycottage do let us know how it goes with promoted off. I’m getting Ebay yelling at me everywhere to up my percentage. I’m going to make a point to check monthly to see what happens to my promoted % of clicks. If it’s down from last year at the low percentage I may remove the campaign. Ebay obviously will test everyone to see what they do. I’m hoping a lot of Americans decide to reduce or end promoted. We are feistier on this side of the pond. At the same time, I’d like to keep in front of those who decide not to. I’m not sure Ebay will reward a 2.6% rate at all though.
AI will be really interesting to watch. People seem keen to adopt it. Ebay isn’t blocking Open AI and they want to look like they are catching up tech-wise. Going forward I’m going to be much more flexible on price and VERY careful picking stuff up. I just got my TRS back too and I hope that helps with ChatGPT hits.

One other thing I’m going to be trying…I will likely have a sale running nearly every day…partly to get the row of other items on sale that ebay shows in my listings….I don’t know if that gets much attention , but I figure if I’m not promoting I’ve got to try to work whatever angles I can come up with.

I do think running a sale really helps. It was mentioned in my store review. Speaking of that, I need to schedule part 2. I really liked the person I had last time, though looking back he did have an agenda of things to discuss that wasn’t particular to me per se. I implemented some of his stuff. Trying the coupon was most effective. I never went back and added 6-7 photos but started fluffing new listings. I also did not create a sale category but Poshmark and their 6.49 shipping is helping me to get rid of some very old stuff.

From my perspective, promoted listings have never worked well enough for me to be cost effective. The only thing I see consistently over and over on Amazon, Ebay and Etsy, is when I list on a regular basis, I sell. This was very evident once again this Christmas season, which was one of my strongest seasons in many years, but mainly on Amazon and Etsy, which is where I had concentrated my listing efforts. Ebay was weaker by far, but I hadn’t done many listings on Ebay in the season. So I don’t pay for anything extra and just focus on listing.
The only extra thing I do is the send offers on old items I want to get rid of. This is fairly effective, as well.
I’m not sure I’m going to post numbers weekly, but I do plan to check in weekly. I too have a GREAT deal of things, Christine, and am working towards not having to move QUITE so much.
It was a good listing week, primarily because I spent a whole day listing and my friend came over and also spent a day listing for me.
