Just List, dammit!
Post your listing numbers here every Monday to be included in this challenge. For details on the challenge, please look at Trash Elf Listing Challenge 2019.
This is thread #3, beginning July for the 3rd quarter of the year.
New Rule #6 added: Listings numbers are number of listings created, not number of items listed.

Hello Fellow Challengers!
I’m posting early again just to get a break from the mind numbing listings I’ve been working on today. Honestly if anyone ever needs a way to break themselves from buying cheap stuff that will also sell for cheap (me) all one has to do is spend an entire day listing only $6.00 items. Sigh.
I listed 39 items last week and last week went really well (for me) as far as sales. I had 4 days with over $100 in sales which is really good for my little store. Of course as of 4 pm on Sunday I’ve had zero sales today. Ouch. Still, I’m pretty happy with the traction listing a lot more items seems to have brought me.
Sharon, I hope you are enjoying your vacation! I forgot to mention that when you wrote “it seems like just yesterday that I was toilet training my daughter and now she’s off to college. I must have done something right” it made me laugh so hard!. I got this picture in my head of someone throwing down their training pants and immediately marching off to college. So funny!
ChristineR, I hope your work on your Dad’s place is going smoothly. You are missed here!
Vintage Lacy, I’m pretty sure that you are the Darling and I’m the Vintage that Amatino was referring to – LOL. I’m really looking forward to hearing about your picking trip to California, I hope you had fun!
Amatino, I hope you are listing and organizing your tail off 😉
Wishing you all a great week ahead…

Worked my tail off last week and plowed through a huge stack that had taken over a corner of a room. Priced and boxed up a bunch of it for the street fair in August and listed a bunch too. It’s lovely to have that corner back. Listed 50 items.
Leave tomorrow for the picking trip in California but do plan to list like crazy today, so should have some numbers to post next Monday.
Vintage Treasures….you are funny! I rather thought of you as darling…so let’s share the title. 🙂
Hope everyone has a great week.

Hey folks! Wow, you had a great week, both of you. Well done!
Not such a good week for me, the flu/cold/virus that I’ve been fending off for the past two weeks was victorious and I spent most of the week contemplating my mortality. 🙁
Despite best intentions, listed 5 items, of which only 4 were Death Pile. VT, you need to pop over to the Challenge and decide my fate!

@Vintage thanks. Despite the 4 day weekend, I’m zero listings. I’m almost done buying things for his place and have some meetings this week with subs. So, still in the middle of that project. Also still exploring the world of college admissions. We will tour U Michigan, Notre Dame, and UC Boulder in August on our vacation. On the 4th we were very excited to binge watch stranger things and swim. It was nice to slow down.
I’m kind of embarrassed to admit that I really could have listed yesterday, but I’m finding it really hard to dig back into Ebay for some reason. Of course I can use the money, so need to kick myself in the rear! Where to begin with the piles? At least I haven’t been sourcing at all. About 5 more boxes will come down from my dad’s though in August.
Have a good week.

Welcome back, ChristineR. So glad you’re still with us, even if your head’s not back in the game yet.
Join Vintage Treasures and I in the Death Pile Challenge, if you like, over in the DP Support Group. But be warned, there be penalties if you don’t make it! VT is SERIOUS! 😀 Perhaps join in the Fall after College and your Dad’s stuff is all done.

ChristineR: I believe you have a job, a family, a Dad you’re helping out, PLUS your eBay business! I can’t imagine how you juggle it all… I’d say you’re doing just fine and you deserve a little downtime.
Re: your college tours, I vote for UC Boulder – Boulder’s the best place I’ve ever lived. There are 4 seasons with snow in the winter – but it melts right away and you’re often sitting outside enjoying the weather in Jan or Feb. It might be a shock for your college kid weather-wise at U Michigan or Note Dame; being from Southern Cal… And if your child likes the outdoors this is probably one of the best places in the country for biking, hiking, rock climbing, skiing, camping etc.
When you’re here if you like Indian food try Curry ‘n Kabob on 28th Street. Boulder is pricey (which you’re used to in CA) but Curry n Kabob is good food at a very reasonable price.

Thanks ladies. I’m looking forward to going to Colorado for the second time. It’s $13 for an omelette at IHOP here, so food always seems inexpensive when we travel, except in Hawaii. It would be fun to have real seasons. I do remember the news last winter and I’m not sure about the upper midwest. But we’re keeping our minds open at this point. My son hates wearing sunscreen everyday and likes it cooler, but I think he’s thinking of more Pacific NW weather, not inconvenient, frigid weather or humidity.

Last week Vintage Treasures did the Wicked Witch cackle and slapped me with a penalty for failing the Death Pile Challenge. You can stroll over to the Death Pile Support Group to read all about it; suffice to say it sure did light a fire under the old (and saggy) keister! My sincere thanks to VT for the flames!
Did 22 listings this week, many of which were multiple items, so I’ve whacked out a ton of stuff, all Death Pile. Woot woot!
Now I have to tell you a funny story about it. To list fast, I created a draft, photographed, then finished and listed. Everything went into a bin for packing and a SKU number later. Batch listing, yeah? When I had a bin full, I packed, SKU’d, added the SKU to the Active Listings page on my laptop, and hoofed it all down to the shed. Empty bin, start again. Rinse and repeat.
Well, this morning, I was SKU-ing merrily and not one, but two, of my items were missing. Not in my listings. What the…? Did a search. Nothing. Did a more generic search. Nothing. Grrrrr…. Then I remembered I had sent the ID of one of the missing items to my kid, so I pulled up the chat and clicked on the link. I was getting my story together so that I could VENT at eBay for my disappearing items. Only… they weren’t disappeared. They were SOLD! ROFLMAO! What a week!

Hello Listing Challengers!
32 new listings for me this week. This was a rough week with a difficult to hear medical update on a family member, which put me off my listing game. But I’ll get my head around it and forge on, that’s all I can do.
Amatino, you’re the bomb! I’m so proud of you for accepting my penalty/challenge and completely killing it!!! I will admit I had to Google ROFLMAO to see what it means. It’s hard to be old 🙂 But I love the acronym, and I’ll be certain to somehow fit that into a future text so I can pretend to be current -ROFLMAO.
Wishing everyone a wonderful week!

One teeny tiny little listing for me last week. I left on my picking trip on Tuesday and just got back this morning. Had a fabulous time and filled the minivan up floor to ceiling, front to back. Since I am a writer I love vintage typewriters and the holy grail for me has always been to find a vintage turquoise portable typewriter…..and I found TWO. TWO!! At the Sacramento Antique Faire. Different models so I will try out both and see which one I like best and sell the other. Maybe. (wink)
The most popular booths were selling either Farmhouse or Mid-century Modern. I haven’t seen anything else coming along to replace either of those trends, although there were a lot of African carved wood pieces, linens and artwork. More than I have seen other years.
Vintage Treasures, so sorry to hear about your family member. Sending you good thoughts and a hug.
Wishing a good week for everyone ahead.

We just got back from vacation yesterday, so, of course, I haven’t listed anything. However, I did create a draft because one of my parents friends gave me some light bulbs that I sold in the past. I had to find the expired listing and resurrect the photos.
Talking about stuff my parents’ friends gave me, I also completely filled my minivan floor to (almost) ceiling, back to front with stuff they gave me to sell. I could have filled it to the ceiling, but I wanted the back window to not be completely obstructed. Some of the stuff was our luggage from the trip, but most was stuff for me to sell!
BTW, one thing that was given to me is a blue Smith Corona typewriter! I’ll have to figure out if it is considered turquoise or not!
I’m pretty busy with kids and shipping stuff that sold during my trip, but, once I am ready, I got plenty to do.

Vintage Treasures, sorry about your family member. 🙁 For some reason, I always thought you and I were the same age! To be honest, it’s having kids that keeps me up to date with the lingo. And having a class with a variety of ages too, they said what now? Google is my friend! Also, FWIW*, the acronym can be split, depending on your circumstances. You can use ROFL, or LMAO.
*Heheheheh Giving you new Google search options!Vintage Lacy, awesome find. I still have the typewriter I was given for my 11th birthday, 40 years ago! My husband has a vintage Remington, one of those big block style ones. Unfortunately, it’s damaged, but it still looks cool!
Sharyn, that is a FULL van! 😀 But now you have to spill… how do you resurrect an expired listing? I often want to and I thought the only way to do that was to pay for a program like SixBit or WonderLIster.
Spreadsheet updated. Vintage Treasure takes the crown this week.

Thanks for the support ladies, it helps!
I wish I was your age Amatino; I just hit the dreaded 6th decade:( But of course it’s better than the alternative 🙂 There’s good and bad to it I suppose. Senior discount at the thrift stores: good! Peers dying off: bad. Friend in their 40’s telling you that they think you’d be a great friend for their Mom: bad. (Umm, do you really think of an 83 year old as a peer of mine? Ouch.) Cashier at thrift store not believing I qualify for senior discount and saying “I thought you were 40”: good! Needless to say that cashier needs a very strong pair of glasses!!!
Sharon & Vintage Lacy: Congrats on all the stuff you got!

Pfft, VT. Age is just mind over matter. If you don’t mind, it doesn’t matter. And 60 is only middle aged, as the Good Lord Himself said “The age of man will be 120 years.” Hope that makes you feel better! 😉
My week SUCKED! The dog decided to take a snooze behind the work truck up at the barn – so I ended up with a high speed sprint to the vet. My car is lower than the truck, but loading 100lbs of bleeding dog is not for the faint-hearted! As it’s 20 miles from our house to the vet (the not-so-benefit of living rural) I had to sit and wait until they were done/found time/completed the x-rays, yada yada. The good news was no broken bones or popped organs. The bad news was that her paws were hamburger meat and she needed to be put under so that they could clean up and treat them. I left her there and dashed home, threw all my orders into packaging, dashed back to the post office – missed it, closed already – dashed to the next town post office and just made it, then back to the vet to wait some more to take my woozy doggie home. This is the outside dog. She’ll come in for a treat, or a scratch, but then wants to be let out again. Now she had to stay indoors for the whole week! It was torture for both of us. Add to that a trip every 2 days for the special skin growth solution and a rebandaging, which was about 3-4 hours out of each day and it was not a productive week!
So, it is with great pride that I tell you that I achieved my Death Pile Challenge this week, listing all DP items in my 13 listings. And I sorted out my shelving to achieve the mini-challenge that Vintage Treasures and I had for this week over in the Death Pile Support Group too! Only squeaked in, to be honest, as I have just finished, but we’re heading out for dinner with friends, so I’m done for the week!
Doggie is doing much better, to all who are concerned, thank you. She’s already trying to chase down the deer and stuff on her evening potty runs, and is fussing to be let out, so we’re confident she’s well on the mend.
Hope everyone else had a good week!

For some reason, I keep getting “unsubscribed” to this thread, and I miss some of the posts. I’m sure that it’s something I did, but I only do it to this one. The Thread #3, not the 2, not the 1, not the rest of the forum. Let’s hope I stay subscribed this time.
The listing that I resurrected had sold early this year, so it wasn’t too old. It had dropped off my eBay orders page, but I had the email from the sale. I clicked on the link, and that brought what was still left. Enough of the photos were there, but I had to save them to a folder, use sell similar, and then re-upload them. I’m sure if the listing was much older, I would have lost the photos.
I do save my photos in Amazon Photos. I can sometimes search using a key word, and I’ll find them, but I wasn’t able to in this case.
I made two new listings from that resurrected one (one needed new photos), and that is it for me. This week will be better. I’ll be tackling the stuff I brought from Florida, and I’ll have my son helping me with photos.
Amatino, I’m sorry to hear about your dog, but glad that he is doing all right.

Oh Amatino, you’re having some rough luck with your pets, I’m sorry to hear about the dog accident. It’s amazing to me that you managed to soldier on with eBay while going through all that pet trauma, you deserve a pat on the back! I’m happy to hear that the injuries were not worse and your dog is recovering quickly.
After the sad health news about my family member there was another blow family wise: my sister’s 6 year old dog suddenly got a bacterial infection and had to be euthanized. Makes the fact that my senile health challenged cat got me up at 1:10 am yesterday morning and then barfed all over my bed while I was sleeping in it early this morning seem suddenly okay in comparison. Hopefully I, like Amatino, will get back to eBay business after I finish washing everything in my bedroom.
I managed 42 new listings last week. I’m actually hoping for higher this week. I had a really good start on Sunday since I started listing at 2:00 am. All thanks to my senile cat:)

Gosh so sorry to hear about your dog Amatino and your cat VT. Our fur babies do tend to make life more interesting. And Sharyn, great haul! I meant to take a picture of my full minivan but forgot. I found some vintage 1950s coloring books at the Sacramento Faire and listed them right away last week, and the Halloween one sold in two hours! Very motivating to get more of the picking trip treasures listed.
I listed 48 items last week and plan for even more this week…you listening Vintage Treasures? (grin)
Hope everyone has a less eventful week…some peace and quiet for all.

Vintage Lacy you’re killing me! So far today I’ve listed zero 🙁 Not enough sleep and too much laundry! So, so much for my veiled threat to list more this week…
But I shall pull up my bootstraps and list at least one item today, thanks to Amatino’s death pile challenge, hope I get more sleep tonight, and then go for it tomorrow: BECAUSE IT’S ON! Yes I’m talking to YOU Vintage Lacy! ROFLMAO. (Amatino my young friend – did I type that correctly?)

You ladies are a scream! Monday’s are such fun looking forward to y’all!
Yes, VT, you did it right. And you threw down a gauntlet! I knew we could drag you over to the Dark Side! 😀
Phew! What a week. Spreadsheet updated. Only 6 listings tipped the scales for Vintage Lacy to take the win. And the race is on for this week!
Sharyn, one of us should blow in with a humdinger and totally upset the apple cart. Hmmmmm…. you have a photo helper this week. You do it! LOL

Hello Listing Challengers!
Here I am posting early because I’m totally burnt out on listing and horribly regretting my smack talk last week… But due to the fear of looking lame after posting with so much bravado I posted 51 listings, so there’s that. I’m currently telling myself over and over to NEVER throw down the gauntlet again, but I’ll probably forget that soon and repeat the same mistake. Sigh.
So I finally got up to more than 402 listings which I figured would be the break even for moving from the basic to the premium store and did so. So now I need to keep my listings over 402 or my frugal nature will freak out! So I’m in a listing challenge against myself at this point, if that makes any sense.
Wishing everyone a happy, healthy and productive week ahead!

07/28/2019 at 10:19 pm #65519
Amatino – Oh, I tried, and I came so close.
With my son helping out with photography, I listed 50 items. That’s right, just one less than Vintage Treasures!!
Now, he is doing OK behind the camera. Sometimes he doesn’t take enough photos, sometimes he messes up, but he does good too. He also doesn’t like to work more than about 1 hour a day.
There were two listings left where the photos aren’t good enough, but I didn’t feel like retaking them. The listings are already in draft. When I saw VT’s count of 51, the thought to set up and take the photos traveled through my brain for only a few seconds. I mean, it’s past 10PM here, and I wanna go to sleep.
But I came SO close.
Note: one listing was taken down by eBay because there is a recall against it, but it is part of my total count. I mean, I did list it, right?

I’ve mentioned before that I used to be a folk art doll artist, and that also means that I have (or Had) an enormous stash of fabric from those days, all stacked neatly in boxes in the upper part of the garage. In the past I have pulled boxes and listed them but it’s been a year or two since I have done that. People are starting to buy fabric to sew for fall projects so I decided I needed to get more of it listed. So I got out the ladder and climbed up to pull down two large boxes of flannel and 30s reproduction prints, both great sellers and the fabric has been languishing in my garage for way too many years. With the gauntlet VT threw down….now was the time. I was further encouraged when once I started listing, the fabric began immediately selling.
I spent all last week listing that fabric, many hours (it was pretty much mostly what I did) and have sold over $400 worth already. Extra bonus is getting rid of two boxes of death pile items.
The result:
I listed 125 items.Best listing week ever. Thanks VT! And everyone!

07/29/2019 at 1:01 pm #65531
Holy Cow! That’s incredible, and now I’m really glad I didn’t start any crazy photography late at night!
I know that when I list things of similar type, such as an incomplete set of dishes, and the plates, the bowls, the mugs, etc. are listed separately, I can get many more items up than normal. I’m just changing the photos and a word or two in the title. If you are doing just fabric, and you are only changing color, type, or whatever detail as you go along, the process moves just so much faster and easier.
Congratulations on the number of listings and the sales coming in! More than half of my sales this weekend were from items just listed, so I know how that works!!
-
-
07/29/2019 at 1:10 pm #65532
Thanks Sharyn!
You are so right….it’s much easier to list similar items. With the fabric I was able to copy a previous listing, scan the fabric twice (once with a quarter to show scale of print), measure it, weigh it and change out the title slightly (depending on color, manufacturer, and other differences), change a few tag words and done.
Easy peasy. And fabric is SO easy to ship!

Oh my dizzy aunt, Vintage Lacy! Un – be- LIEV – able! You are a listing MACHINE! We all bow down to you and swoon at your feet!
Congratulations on your upgrade, Vintage Treasures, you did wonderfully this week. And you, Sharyn, so close too!
And, in contrast to you 3 listing giants, I am pitiful. Pitiful, I tell you! Before I ‘fess up, let me tell you about my week. Grab a cuppa, this is so ridiculous it’s funny!
The dog vet visits were reduced to only Monday and Friday this week, so I gained a day (Yay!) but both trips took the entire morning. Coming home to packing parcels for shipping and a host of other tasks for the Hubs’ business, only listed one item on Monday.
My hair is over a yard long, so I usually braid it at night as either me or him rolling onto my tresses often results in my being trapped. Monday evening, I was relaxing in bed reading a book with my braid partially over one shoulder when I noticed it began to slide down my chest… and it seemed to be moving! I jumped up and brushed at it, then inspected the whole bed, lifting pillows and flapping blankets, looking for a suspected scorpion. Nothing. I figured it was just my hair sliding down under its own weight. I settled back into bed, slightly rattled, and carried on reading. Minutes later I felt something on the other side, glanced over, and it WAS a scorpion! A big one, casually sauntering down my arm. I flicked it off my arm, now in a total panic, and it landed on the edge of the bed, where my husband decapitated it after I shrieked in terror for his rescue. I’m such a girl!
Obviously, it had been on my braid the first time and, when I flicked my braid, it rode it like a zipline, all the way around my back to the other side, then dismounted and strolled over my shoulder. How I didn’t lie on it and/or get stung, I have no idea! I did NOT sleep well!
Tuesday involved Serious Extermination Work. We mixed up a new batch of Tempo (awesome stuff!) and sprayed the entire house, inside and out, moving furniture and soaking access points. I also sprayed my storage unit, inside and out. Then stuff got cleaned up and replaced. In the evening I had dance class and sewing machine deliveries; listings – zero.
Wednesday was hair coloring day. I was about a month overdue and several people, including total strangers, were commenting on my outgrowth, so it was urgent. I use henna, so it’s a several hours project: apply, wait 2-4+ hours, wash it out. In those 4+ hours I took a bunch of photos, so it wasn’t wasted time, but I didn’t get any listings done. Thursday was entirely sewing machine business and dance business. Friday was another vet visit, plus an inspection visit for a quote to repair my dented door from a frisky bollard at the gas station that accosted my car. Saturday, now desperate to get my numbers up, I sat down to edit the photos and managed to list 2 more, in the midst of all the other running around I had to get through, and then Sunday we had a batch of visitors and ranch tasks that totally wiped out the day. By 10PM, when the last visitor had left and I sat down at my computer, I looked despairingly at my meagre listing total and sighed. There was just no way I was going to start listing at 10PM and be finished by midnight, no matter what I did, so I closed up and went to bed.
So there you have it. 3 whole listings. Pitiful, I told you! On the positive side, though, my hair looks terrific, my dog is doing wonderfully, and there’s not a scorpion anywhere inside this house!
-
07/29/2019 at 2:36 pm #65539
Too funny Amatino! I have a scorpion story for you too but first I want to congratulate Vintage Lacy & Sharon for hitting the ball right out of the park! I am gratified (mortified?) that you ladies take these challenges so seriously, and I am vowing to keep my big mouth shut around the 2 of you 🙂
As for Vintage Lacy I have come up with a dastardly plan: I am entering you into as many all-expenses paid vacation sweepstakes as I can find. I’m writing your return address as: Vintage Lacy/Oregon/Best Lister/Scavenger Life Listing Challenge. I’m sure the prize patrol will be able to find you that way. So after you leave on your grand prize vacation the rest of us will have a fighting chance against you, Vintage Lacy Lister Extraordinaire! Anyway I surrender, there is no way on earth that I could ever list 125 items in a week – I don’t care what they are, that is absolutely amazing!!! Kudos to you!

Yeh, VT, what is your scorpion story?
-
07/30/2019 at 6:49 pm #65600
Well, it’s a long story and I have to get ready for a birthday party in a minute but here goes: My husband and I bought a house in far North Scottsdale AZ when we retired, so this was over 10 years ago. The house had been pretty much vacant for about 2 years when we purchased it. We were used to living in AZ from earlier in our lives but we lived in the city back then. So we knew there were scorpions in AZ but had never come across any inside our homes.
So when we first bought the house I flew out and met someone I’m close to who shall remain nameless for reasons revealed later in the story. The houseguest wanted to go swim in the nearest lake and in the rush to get there before the temperature got to hotter than hell I ran in my closet, grabbed my water shoes off the top shelf and jammed my foot in. Yes, I knew better than that, but did it anyway. So the scorpion living in the shoe stung me on the toe. It was a bark scorpion, the smallest type. The smaller the scorpion the more poisonous it is…
So off to Mayo Clinic emergency room I go along with my houseguest. As we are driving there I’m feeling odd. Like I’m going numb from my toe up on the stung side of my body. The doctor at Mayo says “Just sit here and let me know when you feel numb up to your chest” and I say “Why?” and he says “We have to wait until the venom reaches your heart and lungs to see if you’re allergic.” And I’m like “Nah, I’m okay, I need to leave, my houseguest wants to go swimming.” And the doctor says “Well, if you’re allergic, we’ll need to give you the anti-venom before your heart stops, you can’t leave.” HUH?
So I’m like, “Umm, how about you give me the anti-venom now so you don’t have to revive me?” And he’s like “Oh, you don’t want the anti-venom, it causes all kinds of problems.” and I’m thinking to myself “The antidote is WORSE than death?” Bummer. So once my body was numb up to my neck they let me leave but insisted I get a presciption for pain meds. And I’m like “Nah, it’s not so bad, I don’t need that.” but finally took the script just to get out of there.
So here’s the funny part: On the way home I say to my houseguest, “I’m starting to feel pretty bad, let’s go through the Walgreen’s drive through on the way home and get this filled”. So the Walgreen’s there is in a strip mall the size of a small town. With football field sized parking lots. And my houseguest says: “I’m going to drop you off here and get an iced coffee at Starbucks”. And I’m half a mile from the door to Walgreens. At this point I can no longer walk and I’m drooling uncontrollably. So pulling myself from car to car and dragging my leg behind me I make it to the door of Walgreens. And of course the pharmacy is in the back of this huge huge huge store. As soon as I open the door the pharmasist yells out “Did you get stung by a scorpion?” and then everyone in the store turns and watches as I pull myself using the store shelving from the front of the store to the back with drool running dripping off my shirt. I did almost lose it when my houseguest came back to pick me up and asked if I was still up for going to the lake. I politely(?) declined.
So long story but that night was I glad that I had the drugs! My foot literally felt like it was in a pot of boiling oil for 9 hours straight. And it took quite awhile for all the effects to go away, I looked like I had had a stroke for weeks and it was probably a year before I had feeling in my foot.
So I’m glad you exterminated your house Amatino, those scorpions are fierce!

Oh my gosh, VT! That’s awful! What a jerk! I’m horrified that nobody helped you and most especially at your houseghoul. If he ever gets stung, I hope he’ll remember you and have the grace to feel guilty!
Fingers crossed I NEVER get to experience it!
Have fun at the party! Is it your birthday?

Believe it or not the guest was a woman! But not the nurturing type I guess. After we got back home she went shopping while I lay there thinking I might die alone in my bedroom – LOL! Not my birthday but that of a close friend. It was fun!

Despite my plans to list today, I’m done. I’ve been working flat out and I just need a day off. (Although that’s relative… I’m sewing a galabeya for dance class. I have a dozen to make, so today I’m scratching my head over the draft and sewing up a test version.)
Listed 12 last week, all Death Pile items. While I’m not listing fast, at least I’m consistently listing every week, and the uptick is sales is a welcome bonus.

I listed 37 last week. And my sales have been great compared to last year at this time. I think the consistant listing has really helped sales.
I remember last year after eBay Open my sales took a nosedive! I was coming up with all kinds of conspiracy theories: That eBay had boosted the listings and sales of those going to eBay Open before the event in order to make sure eBay Open participants didn’t start a riot at eBay Open – that was the theory I was the most fond of. As I recall sellers were really worked up about something eBay was doing just before Open last year. And I thought it would be a smart conspiracy to boost the sales of Open participants to placate the sellers while they were at Open 2018. (Obviously I watch a little too much TV). Now I can’t even recall what everyone was so upset about back then – LOL!
Anyway compared to early and mid July of 2018 the end of July in 2018 was terrible for sales for me. This year my sales stayed consistant all through July so I’m happy.
Wishing everyone a great week of sales!

This week was as good as last week. I listed 52 items.
I had to get the rotors and pads on my brakes replaced. I spent the time in the waiting room creating new listings and importing the photos. I had my Chromebook and iPhone with me. I could only create 10 listings before having to upload photos because the iPhone app only shows 10 draft listings at a time.
My son did do some work this week, but only 3 or 4 hours worth.
My sales have definitely improved with all this listing.

Sharyn, you’re coming on strong! I elect you to give Vintage Lacy a run for the money. I’ve already admitted defeat 🙂

You ladies are hilarious! Sure, gang up on me and see where that gets you. 🙂 Everyone is forgetting that Sharyn came on strong the second half of last year and actually won the YEAR. I’m keeping an eye on HER. (grin)
I listed 26 items last week. I had a vintage flea market to get ready for, which took a bit of time. It was yesterday, in 93 degree weather and we were miserable, but trying to make the best of it. First time doing that particular show, and the customers turned out not to be our base. A bunch of lookie lou’s and bargain hunters. The booth next to us were a father/son team selling items they couldn’t sell on ebay. They had a $1 table and a $3 table, if that tells you anything. We did sell quite a few vintage books, which somewhat redeemed the day. A customer was kind enough to point out to us that we had a black widow spider climbing on one of our display tables. Ugh. Nothing like your scorpion stories, but still…I don’t do spiders well, and that’s a story in itself.
Amatino, just reading about the scorpion on your braid gave me the willies. So glad it didn’t sting you! I can see why you were compelled to spray the whole house the next day! And VT, I have a confession. Your scorpion story was horrifying (and that awful awful houseguest!!!) but it was also darkly humorous. I just had that image of you slogging your way to the pharmacy counter with drool dripping down your chin and it reminded me of a Monty Python skit. It’s a GREAT story. I am so sorry that it happened though, and that the effects were so long lasting. And I am also waiting to win one of those vacation sweepstakes you entered me into…..so funny.
Hope everyone has a great week ahead….no stinging/biting creatures allowed.

😀 😀 😀 😀 You’re right, Vintage Lacy, she did indeed! Bit of a Ninja Elf, in our Trash Elf Sharyn!
I have to admit, this group is the highlight of each new week!
Spreadsheet updated, and Ninja Sharyn sneaks in for a win.

08/06/2019 at 1:54 pm #65976
sshh, I snuck in
This week, though, my daughter gets her wisdom teeth pulled (tomorrow) and I’ve got an auction on Friday. I may not be able to get by so quiet this time.
Considering Vintage Lacy’s big lead, I doubt my ninja skills can overcome to win the year.

This Friday I did my first ever plotted-on-Google-Maps round of yard sales in the local town. What an experience! Google Maps was awesome, it led me exactly to each spot and then waited for me to tell it to “continue”. I got around all 7 Sales, including the 50 miles round trip, in less than 3 hours. And I bought… dun dun dun…. nothing! Well, nothing for ME! I bought vintage sewing machines for Himself’s business and scored a touchdown: a vintage Singer for $40 that we’ll list for $150+ after it has been refurbished. Two weeks ago I got one for $40 that will go up for $500, so I’m on a roll. However, before you get too excited, I got ahead of myself and picked up a Singer Touch & Sew for $40 that will probably be parts only, so that’s going to break even, at best. Bummer! Reminds me to stay humble!
However, I went in, looked at the sewing stuff, bought if relevant, and hightailed it outta there without looking at anything else. I almost had to reach round, grab myself by the throat and THROW myself at my car at one place – they had a vintage projector and a vintage TV unit. These things looked like they were from the 1950s. I was so excited! But I don’t know anything about them and I had dropped $100 in 3 hours, so I figured it was just a case of FOMO and marched myself out the door. I’m going to mount a mannequin arm with a gloved hand on the inside door of the garage, with a string attached to the elbow. Then, when I get home, I can pat myself on the back!
Listed 16 items this week, all Death Pile. Woohoo!

I managed, to my amazement, to list 51 items. This is now the third week that I’ve listed about 50.
I’ve been able to get through about 95% of the hard goods that my parents’ friends gave me. Now I need to tackle clothing. I still have some clothes left from auctions a few months ago plus all this stuff from my parents. Maybe 6 or 7 bags plus some stuff hanging up in the laundry room including a bag of ties. I don’t care too much about clothing, and now I’m not going to have enough room to store it all. I’ll need to find spaces in bins and drawers.
Anyway, this week I’ll be on a short trip Thursday through Sunday. I’m still trying to get my daughter ready for college. She moves in on August 22. I don’t expect a 50 item week for at least two weeks, although, clothing can be pretty quick once the photos are taken.

I listed 37 items this week, a mixture of old death pile stuff and stuff I bought on Friday. I’m a “I’m stressed, I need to go treasure hunting” kind of thrifter and it’s been a tough week. My sales are down from what they were, which doesn’t help my morale. Oh well that’s life, ups and downs 🙂 And it’s not that last week was really bad, just not quite as high as I’ve gotten used to…
I just listened to most of the Scavenger Life podcast while I was making dinner and I was pretty thrilled to hear Jay and Ryanne mention the thread I started: “Silly Seller Superstitions”. That made my day, so thanks Jay and Ryanne!
Wishing everyone a great week ahead!

This is prime picking season for me now and had the most excellent weekend, with carloads of treasures found. I’ll stop going out the beginning of October since that’s the start of my busy season and won’t resume (other than the occasional bin binge) until March so building up inventory is crucial this time of year, especially with my big show coming up in October. Last weekend I found an 8 ft tall windmill that will be the centerpiece of our Farmhouse Christmas display at the show and that was quite a thrilling find….until we hit an amazing sale yesterday. It wasn’t even on our list!
We saw balloons and signs and decided to detour, and it turned out to be several sisters selling their grandma’s stuff. They hadn’t listed the sale on Craigslist, so we had the sale almost to ourselves and the whole dang yard was filled with tables and boxes and piles of stuff they hadn’t even unpacked yet. WELL. I love a good digging sale. Nothing had prices on it and both Charlie and I started piles on their porch, that kept growing bigger and bigger. There were quite a few boxes of fabric, but most were little bits and scraps..but I did make a stack of about a dozen pieces that were definitely vintage. My big pile of treasures cost me $23. When I got home I looked at the fabric and discovered that most of it was from the 1930s and 40s…which sells for good money. I listed it and within minutes, a piece sold for $45. And then two more sold. Ca-ching ca-ching. It was very exciting to have it sell so quickly!
We went back today to dig some more and I brought home a pile of vintage fabric twice as big as the first…..and have been on a listing frenzy. I had already done a fair amount of listing earlier in the week too…..so I listed 73 items this week. And have 21 Etsy orders to ship out tomorrow! Woot!
I am so sorry you had a rough week VT. I totally get the need for thrifting therapy. I do it too. But just think of how your sales are going to skyrocket in September when overall sales start picking up!
Congrats Sharyn and Amatino…you both are on a roll!

Wow, it’s a great week for listing, you guys are just pounding them out!
Sharyn, how is your increase in listing affecting your sales? Are you seeing a big rise in sales to match the increased listing?
VT, don’t stress your sales. Despite my bump in listing, my sales were down this week. Like, by 75%! I think it’s just the time of year. Or my stuff is boring! 😀 BTW, I just noticed you’re the only one in this group who doesn’t have a State in your location. I noticed because I was thinking how much fun it would be to swing around and visit you all. What a round trip that would be!
Wow, Vintage Lacy, what an awesome find! I really, really REALLY have to try and make it to one of your shows. You’ve put such a desire in me to attend one!
And… Vintage Lacy takes the win, of course, in our updated Spreadsheet. You are most determined to make us work for it, aren’t you?

Amatino, I’m in Colorado, and super happy to be here; it’s the best place I’ve ever lived!
Actually Christine had said she is going to be (or was already?) in my town this month visiting the college with her son. If you were to visit: First I’d have a panic attack because I’m an introvert and terrified to meet new people even though I feel I know you already, and then when you got here I’d take you to the Goodwill Outlet bins and talk your ear off – LOL!
I don’t live too far from T-Satt, who is on this forum. I met him, his wife, his wife’s best friend (who also sells on eBay) and her husband at eBay Open last year. That was for sure the highlight of eBay Open for me. They were all super nice to me and they all have amazing eBay businesses – as you can tell from reading T-Satt’s posts. Meeting them inspired me to treat my eBay hobby more like a business and although I have a LONG way to go in that regard I have made some progress, with many thanks to this group and the challenges from Amatino. I want to thank each of you ladies for keeping me going on that path! And thanks Amatino and Vintage Lacy for the moral support 🙂

Wow, we cover almost every corner of the States! Just out of interest (and to see how Google would handle the request) I asked for distances from Texas to “…” Google gave me distances from the CENTER of each State. Cool, huh? I was amused to see I’m almost equidistant from the two furthest Elves, although I honestly thought it was further to Oregon than New Jersey. It sure looks that way on the map!
Texas to New Jersey 1,738 miles
Texas to Oregon 1,698 miles
Texas to Colorado 744 miles.Further reading has revealed that I can get from Texas to Oregon or from Texas to New Jersey on Amtrak with almost straight line travel. To get to Oregon, though, I’d have to jink around between trains and buses and stuff or take a long switchback journey. So, VT, although you’re so much closer to me, you’re the most difficult to get to with provided transport. I’d have to drive! (Yes, I can drive, both stick and shift, but when I go on holiday, I love the train!)
And you’re on! I shall have my ears primed and ready! LOL

Damnit, my response was eaten by the ever constant expiring SL login machine! I’ll just rewrite the whole thing because I forgot to copy it before pressing that damn submit button.
Amatino – Yes, my sales are up, but what is causing the increase? You are asking if the increase is due to the higher listing numbers.
I would estimate that about 25% of my sales are from items I’ve newly listed in the past three weeks. However, my sales are up more than 25%.
One reason is my low listing numbers in July compounded by being on vacation for half that month. This includes two weeks where I had extended shipping.
Another reason is that July sales are traditionally sucky, and folks start back to school shopping in August, so sales in general increase.
Lastly, there’s that algorithm where active accounts get more exposure. I think this is what you are asking; whether eBay is giving me a boost. I can’t really say for sure based on the other factors involved in the timeframe, but I’m sure it has helped. I had a few sales of items in my inventory since 2016, my first year of eBay. Perhaps those were helped by the algorithm? I really don’t know.
On the other topic, you would have quite a trip ahead of you: Oregon, Colorado, NJ. Probably 3000 miles round trip!!
-
08/13/2019 at 2:22 pm #66337
Looks like we pressed submit at the same time – yes, quite a trip that would be!
The center of NJ would be an accurate location since I live in pretty much half way up or down in NJ.

Hello Everyone!
I’m posting super early because I’m headed out for a long weekend in the morning. I won’t be able to list anything tomorrow so I’m done for this week. I had 33 listings for the week.
I’ve been trying to stick to at least 37 per week to make my August goal of 150 new listings this month. I hope to make it up later in the month, but next week probably won’t be the week. I’ll miss 2 days of listing next week. Maybe the last week of August…
Hope everyone has a great week ahead!
-

How can it be the middle of August already? Argh! Hello all, I am posting early too as my 13-yr-old nephew arrives today for a week visit and I will be busy doing auntie things with him. This coming week will be a challenge, as we’re going to go on several adventures, including visits to the beach and a science museum so we’ll see what happens. Good thing I like to post late at night.
I had a good week and listed 57 items. I am trying to get more done this summer, as last year I tanked during the last quarter of the year and didn’t have good listing weeks…the most was a week I posted 19 items. My goal has always been 50 a week, so any I can do over that helps me later.
Amatino….come on up to Oregon! We’d have an amazing time together…I’d take you to estate sales and bins bins bins. It’d be a blast. The invite extends to everyone. 🙂
Vintage Treasures, my brother lives in Colorado Springs. It’s a gorgeous part of the country! Sharyn, best wishes in getting your daughter ready for college!
Hope everyone has a great week!

Hi Ladies, I’m impressed with all of your listings. Especially you, A, since you and I seem to struggle the most.
VT, we went to Boulder via Denver. It was so beautiful in the town and on campus. We were struck by the lack of homeless in Boulder parks and downtown. Also everything is much newer and tidier. We live in a beautiful city, but we all really liked Colorado. Off the highway, I noticed huge bin places and a lot of thrifts too. Sadly, did not get in any picking but just as well since I’m hogtied from listing.

08/19/2019 at 9:47 am #66555
I managed 9 listings last week. I’m not expecting much more this week. Daughter goes to college on Thursday!
-
08/19/2019 at 2:46 pm #66577
I spent pretty much the entire week on my back. I don’t know how, but I put it out this week and could barely walk, so would get up every now and then to do an invoice for the hubs, or to move to lie on the floor or couch, in an effort to find a position that wasn’t excruciating. This is the first time I’ve ever had my back go out on me (Hubs had had it a few times) and, please God, may it be the last!
Now, it would be grand to tell you I struggled up at the last minute to achieve my listing goals in a last minute listing sprint, but I didn’t. Saturday we spent the day in ICU with a very close family friend. Oddly, they had a recliner in the ICU unit, so I sat in that most of the day. Yesterday I did get up with the intention of listing, but I hadn’t realized before how much jumping up and down I do to take photos. Once I realized, I decided I’d rather take on a new penalty from VT than even try. So I had a zero listing week, for the first time in ages. Such a disappointment!
VT – hope you had a good weekend and are pumped for a new week. Let’s pick a Sprint day, per the DP Challenge thread.
VL – would love to! We’ve just had some huge outlays, and funds are a little lower than we’d like, so it will have to be a future plan. Will let you know.
ChristineR – we miss you! So glad you’re still checking in occasionally. Going to pencil So Cal into my Trash Elf Tour and really do the rounds! LOL
Sharyn – wishing you lots of patience and resilience with the move and change and upheaval!
Spreadsheet updated. Vintage Lacy blows us away. Again! I’m beginning to think the rest of us should all gang up and do a group visit to Oregon to see how the heck you do it! 😀
-
08/19/2019 at 5:26 pm #66591
Ooh, I’d love to go to Oregon and see how Vintage Lacy does it! Count me in. Vintage Lacy is such a nice person, she always has a kind word for any of us who are struggling in any way. I always appreciate her thoughtfulness and sweet comments when I’m feeling down. It’d be wonderful to meet her in person for sure!
-
08/19/2019 at 5:46 pm #66592
ChristineR, that’s amazing that you saw my bins just off the highway in Denver. You are right, the Goodwill Outlets are gigantic! I’m not sure about other bins since I’ve only been to 2 of the ones near me in Colorado, but to me the bins here are huge. And yes, there are tons of thrift stores everywhere here, with lots of good stuff, although I see the prices rising like others on the forum have mentioned. I still find lots of great things that are priced low though – if you aren’t just trying to source well known clothing or shoe brands.
I’m glad you liked Boulder on the second look! I love it here but I will say that I moved away from downtown partially because it used to make me feel depressed when I would see how many homeless people there were there. I think I was used to the suburbs of Chicago where you see almost zero homeless people outside of downtown. So moving downtown here and seeing the homeless on every corner was tough for me. I will say I never had a single problem though. I think I was asked for my leftovers twice when leaving a restaurant, and told I looked beautiful once in 7 years of living downtown. Anyway, I guess what I’m trying to say is that the homeless here seem super polite to me, they just quietly hold up signs asking for help. In Berkeley, CA where my sister used to live, the homeless seemed a lot more aggressive than here. Colorado in general is just more mellow than California IMHO.
-
08/20/2019 at 3:58 pm #66657
Yes, the bin building was HUGE. I don’t know how I would like that style of picking but there are bound to be good finds in there somewhere.
Re the homeless, we have a really serious problem and controversy here. It’s very sad to see them lying in the storefronts and all over the parks. Unfortunately my kids were both threated and talked to when they were very small. Some of our local chronically homeless are very seriously mentally ill without good support from the County government, which is not well run. We have a lot of resources aimed at fighting homelessness in our town but some refuse to take advantage either because they can’t or won’t. It’s kind of all coming to a head but the local leaders are trying to come together on a plan. On a tangent here just to clarify that I’m not without compassion for the homeless. It was just very Pleasantville in Boulder compared to here. One time at the Goodwill downtown a homeless guy asked me if I wanted to give him a haircut. I politely declined. 🙂
Feel better A!

So sorry to hear about the back issues, Amatino. I can totally relate. I go to the chiropractor every other week, which I’ve done for the past 10 or more years. This is a genetic issue in my family. My dad had problems when I was growing up, and he had surgery a few years ago.
I also do a set of exercises every morning as prescribed by my chiropractor. I wake up feeling crampy, and the exercises do a world of good. If you are interested, I’ll either describe them or find a link online.
-
08/19/2019 at 10:05 pm #66605
Sharyn, yes please!
My chiropractor was a freaking genius… until he was rude enough to retire without asking my permission, and the other ones I’ve visited so far are just a Liability Lawsuit waiting to happen. I have some serious hardware in my neck due to a violent home invasion, and I can’t have the wrack-and-crack treatment. Try telling these quacks that! One guy actually argued with me, vehemently, that I was not “feeling pain” but it was “the tense muscles releasing” causing “some discomfort”. And this AFTER actually SHOWING him my x-rays!

Oh my, Amatino. That doesn’t look good. I’ll try to explain my exercises, but my inner lawyer is going to pipe up. You better talk to your doctor or get a better chiropractor to make sure that the exercises are OK for your condition. Then again, you belly dance and do all sorts of active stuff, and these exercises are just stretches, so maybe you know what is OK.
And, yeh, I hate when people you count on decide to retire or do a different track. My primary physician decided to become a MDVIP provider. This is where you get extra attention and treatment to stay in the practice, but you have to pay almost $2000 a year. Um, no?
I do all my exercises for a 10 count. I use 1 Mississippi 2 Mississippi etc to get a good count. (I wonder what they do in other countries? I guess they can say 1 one thousand 2 one thousand, etc.)
The first thing I do is lie on my back and bring in one knee to the chest and hold for a 10 count. Then I do the same for the other knee. Then I do it for both. Then a pelvic tilt.
Now I have to roll over to my stomach. Some mornings this is difficult to do :).
I do the cat and camel. This is sitting on your knees and hands and bringing your back into a curved position up for the 10-count and then down for 10.
My favorite stretch is sort of a side plank. I’ve got my knees on the floor at one end and my elbows out, hands on head, on the other. I put one elbow on the floor and the other straight up in the air. I hold the position on the left and then on the right, each for the 10 count.
Then I stand up and do a doorway stretch. You put both arms out along the door and move into the next room until you get a nice stretch for a 10 count.
The last exercise is in a sitting position. This is just gently pushing your head to the right shoulder and then the left, each for the 10 count.
Looking online, I don’t see a stretching routine exactly what I do, so I think that there are different ways to keep your back limber and strong. This is just what my chiropractor gave me.
-
08/20/2019 at 4:54 pm #66662
Thanks for these, Sharyn. Apart from the side plank, these are all exercises that MY chiro gave me too! 😀 😀 😀 😀
I do a plank sequence, but I have it in my strength training routine, not my stretching routine. Interesting that your chiro reckons it’s a stretch. Also, on the doorway stretch, I was warned to keep my elbow bent so that my arm is kinda at a 90-degree angle, but not quite. Apparently how high you place your elbow affects what part of you is being stretched. I was skeptical, so I tried it with my elbow at different heights and was quite amazed at the difference!

Good Morning Listing Challengers!
35 new listings for me, which I feel is pretty good for having 3 zero listing days. One zero listing day was due to being out of town, the other 2 due to being really busy but also apathetic about listing, truth be told.
Hoping to get my listing mojo back this week. I need at least 39 new listings this week to make my goal of 150 new listings in August.
Wishing everyone a great week ahead!

In the mist of last minute purchases and my daughter’s move to college on Thursday, I managed to get in 13 listings, which was about what I expected.
-
08/26/2019 at 11:10 am #66848
Congrats, you two.
It’s a bust for me. Got a few drafts up, but nothing listed. I’ve lost my bay-jo.
I had a huge order to pack up. That’s huge as in a large item, not a large number of items. It weighed 77LB before I added an single bit of packaging and needed special packing supplies to protect the glass. Took a day and a half to get finished, dropped it at FedEx and was delivered to the buyer the next day. Wait, what? Seriously impressive timing, but I’m waiting to see if they accidentally upgraded my order to Overnight because the guy in the store before me was shipping overnight. The invoice will tell.
Had a drive in the country to go pick up a vintage sewing machine for the hubs. Cute machine but zero parts available for it, so I’m not sure how we’re going to get it working. And did paperwork for taxes because tax deadline is a scary six weeks away! But yeah, no listings done. 🙁

Vintage Treasures your kind words came just at the right moment as I was having a rather challenging day! Thank you so much. Please do come for a visit! I’d be shy at first but then become my usual goofy self. I am sure we’d have loads to talk about. As would everyone in this group. We all live such different interesting lives.
Last week I was caught in the dilemma of both trying to be the coolest aunt on the planet and getting ready for my biggest show of the summer. My nephew is in awe of me after I introduced him to Stranger Things and we binge watched Seasons One and Two. It’s all he could talk about. But I was burning the candle at both ends, staying up until the wee hours trying to price and pack and so forth. It was a fun show yesterday but my aching bones today! We had to leave at 4am, as set up on the main street started at 5am. We finally finished unloading our rigs about 7pm, hot and sweaty, but with much less to unload. My most fun sale was a vintage pull-down schoolroom world map. Bought it for a dollar at a barn sale a week previous and sold it for a crisp hundred bucks. They go for a bit more than that on ebay but I really didn’t want the hassle of having to ship it. I was happy, she was happy.
All this to say that I managed 5 listings last week. I’ll be back more on my game this week.

Ah, VL, you’re a great aunt and I’m sure the time you spent with your nephew will live on in his mind way longer than a week watching you list stuff would have.
Spreadsheet updated. VT takes the win this week – well done!

Hello All,
37 new listings for me this week. Luckily I had counted incorrectly when I said I needed 39 new listings this week to meet my goal of 150 new listings in August. I only needed 37. And as soon as I got to that # I immediately quit. Still feeling really apathetic about listing…
Hope everyone is doing well on eBay and everywhere else in life. Wishing you all a great week ahead!

Hey Vintage Treasures, you made your goal for the month of August, so yay you! Sometimes, that’s all the matters, right? I’m betting September will be a better month for you.
Very quiet nose-to-the-grindstone week for me. Organized a death pile bunch of fabric that was bugging me and it feels so much better to have it organized. Other than that, and going out picking yesterday morning (and finding tons of cool stuff for the show) it was list list list. 84 listings for me. And I shipped several boxes to Amazon FBA.
Happy September everyone….here’s hoping for a great month ahead for all of us.

I did not really push much this week. It’s my son’s last full week before school starts, so I didn’t want his week to be boring. I managed 14 new listings. I have lots of photos that he and I did together, but the listings will have to be done this coming week.
With the holiday weekend and my son starting back at school on Thursday, I’m thinking my next big listing week will the Sept 8 week.
Congrats to the Vintage Two 🙂 for your great numbers!
I have some fabric to list myself along with lots of lace trimming. It’s on commission for a family friend. The wife passed away earlier this year, and the husband is downsizing.

Vintage Lacy you are my eBay listing idol!!!

@Sharyn The V2! Brilliant! Yes, congrats to the V2. You’re both listing hellions! Look at you, both in the 1000s! Although, VL, you are DEFINITELY getting a visit so that I can snoop out your secret fires and steal some of that coal for my teeny little steam engine!
Due to VT’s amazing prodding with her super-sharp pitchfork, I managed to double my listing numbers this week. Yup, 20 listings for me! I’m strutting around feeling so proud… and then VL casually tosses in 84 listings. Sigh… Well, still, I doubled my numbers. Go me! If I can do that again, I’ll be right up there in your wheelhouse! 😀
Great week, ladies, and the start of a brand new season. Unless you’re in Texas, where you still have another 45 days to wait. It was 90’F at 8:30PM last Tuesday evening after dance class.
Happy Labor Day, y’all!

Spreadsheet updated. Actually, I updated on Sunday, when we all posted, but held it until today just in case we had a return person or a newbie. 😉

Wow Amatino – you doubled your listings last week!!! Congratulations to you and many pats on the back for a job well done!!!

Ever have a week where you’d like to start life over under an assumed name?
Got my Challenge 10 listed, but no more. 🙁
Hope y’all have a good week this week.
-
09/09/2019 at 12:25 pm #67607
I only listed 16 items last week 🙁
But worse than that, I don’t seem to care that I didn’t meet my listing goal for the week or that I had 2 days with no listing. I’m hoping my long gone listing mojo can be located and recaptured this week 🙂Wishing everyone a great week!

A good part of this past week was doing stuff with my son before school started, which happened on Thursday. Between free time here and there at the beginning of the week and full days at the end, I listed 25 items.
This week is mostly clear M-W. Thursday, I have some appointments and Friday I have an auction to go to. I’m looking to photograph as much as I can and then list in between.

Hmmmmmm…it appears that some of us were in the glumps this past week, myself included. For me, I think part of it was realizing that it was the first week of September and all the Summer projects I didn’t get done. I have a LOT of pressure on me in the next few weeks, with my show rapidly approaching and some unwelcome news from Amazon FBA (that I don’t even want to talk about! Ugh!) and so forth and so on. The shining light of the week was going picking Friday and Saturday and finding so so so and I mean so much good stuff. Saturday Charlie and I kept going to sale after sale and finding boxes of treasures at each. It was unreal and so much fun. I can’t remember a picking day where I was still finding amazing things at 1pm, several hours after sales had opened. At that last sale I found a first edition Wizard of OZ book, and a box of vintage Christmas, including a herd of vintage reindeer. I was gobsmacked. I tell you this because I will say that it definitely improved my mood and inspired me to feel better about everything.
It’s funny how that works!
So what would work for you? A good book and some quiet time? Chocolate? A nice long hot bath? Hunkering down and doing something you really don’t feel like doing and then rewarding yourself afterwards? Lunch with a good friend who makes you laugh? Whatever it is, I wish that for you this week. Be gentle on yourself…this too shall pass.
(oh, and I listed 64 items. Sorry.)

Vintage Lacy, you are the nicest person on earth and also the person I would most want to trounce me in the listing challenge. (Which is a good thing since that’s a done deal!) I’m sure Amatino joins me in appreciating your good wishes! We’ll be arriving on your doorstep soon to learn from the master 🙂

What a week. Maybe it was something in the air? Fall’s arrival? Dunno. Hope everyone has a much better week going forward!
Spreadsheet updated. VL runs away with the lead.

Getting my numbers in and then it’s back to work. I have two weeks left until October and my show madness.Last year I think I posted less than 10 items the entire month of October. I hope to do slightly better this year but there’s still going to be at least two, maybe three weeks with no listings at all.
I listed 75 items this week.
Here’s hoping everyone had a better week last week….and a great week ahead.

09/15/2019 at 12:45 pm #67798
I’ll go ahead and post my numbers also. I won’t say that after this I’ll get back to work, since it’s apparently playtime for me 🙂 But it was a better listing week than last week; I listed 31 items. I’m pretty busy again this week so I don’t expect I’ll have great numbers next week…
Wishing everyone a good solid week ahead. Good luck Vintage Lacy with getting everything ready for your show!

I listed 60 items! Big week for me.
I knew that my parents will be in town this week, so I did as much as I could to get stuff out of the way. Of course, I went to an auction on Friday and now I’ve totally reversed my gain, but that’s this life :).
I liked seeing Vintage Lacy’s set up last year, and hopefully she’ll show us some photos again!

Wow, you guys are listing demons! Well done, you!
I was almost entirely off eBay this week, so zero listed. I will probably be off eBay for the next two weeks as I have to get my taxes done. We took the October extension and, despite best efforts to get to it during the year, I still haven’t finished. Until I do, it will be the focus of the balance of this month. If I get a chance to sneak in a listing or two, I will, but the IRS is scarier than VT, so they win this round. 😀
Spreadsheet updated and VL takes the win again, although very good effort by Sharyn to oust her! LOL

IRS scarier than me? Obviously you don’t know me well enough Amatino!

😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀
I’m enjoying getting to know you better and can’t wait until we meet!
However, the IRS can freeze my bank accounts and put me in jail. If you can top that, I’m going to start listing NOW!

My parents were in town this week, so I didn’t have much time for listing. However, I had time Monday before they showed up and some downtime during the week. My parents brought some more stuff for me to sell including some unopened, sealed DVDs and CDs. Those are real easy to list, so did those right away.
My total is 20 items listed. Much more than I thought I was going to get done!

How has everyone’s week been? Ever heard the saying “you haven’t had enough coffee until you can thread a sewing machine while it’s running!”? Well, I haven’t been drinking that much coffee, but I sure feel like I’m almost up to that level of adrenalin. What a week! LOL
Zero for me, still working on taxes. And costumes. Can you believe it? Costumes AGAIN! I’ve got to make 8 folkloric dance dresses for the troupe, so days are spent with numbers, nights are spent with the sewing machine. Full speed ahead!
Wishing you all a great week ahead.

09/23/2019 at 3:59 pm #68195
I managed 15 listings. I thought it would be a light listing week for me and it was. The positive is those 15 were all death pile items which always take me longer to list. So I’m feeling good about that!
Good job Sharon, 20 with family in town is great! And good luck Amatino with getting everything accomplished!
Wishing everyone a great week!

I missed the Monday posting somehow, the day got away from me. Ack. Things are accelerating on the show front but I still did manage to do 56 listings last week, but it shouldn’t count since I missed the day. Charlie and I did manage a fantastic bit of scavenging today while on the way to drop off packages at the Post Office. A local bakery that had been in business for 93 years had shut down and they were doing demo on the building to convert it to a print shop. Out front they had a dumpster and in front of the dumpster with a sign that said FREE…..
The NINE FOOT LONG BAKERY SIGN THAT HAD BEEN UP ON THE BUILDING.
I couldn’t believe it! That man is a BEAST for scavenging. Good thing we had a minivan, and it barely fit. Can’t wait to feature it at the show! (and I’m putting a hefty price on it too…it’s a piece of local history and I can’t believe they just threw it away!)
Hope everyone has a great week….I won’t be getting much listing done for the next 4 weeks…so have at it!

So sorry, y’all, I’ve not been well this week and not done much. I’m not going to talk about my troubles on deh interwebz, except to say it’s “lady troubles” and severe. I’m on pain meds, had tests done, have an ultra-sound scheduled and may need surgery. NOT a happy camper! 🙁
Spreadsheet updated and Sharyn takes the baton again for this week’s win! Go you!
VL – what a scavenge! Looking forward to seeing photos at the show!

Amatino…so sorry to hear about your woes. Sending you healing thoughts.
In show mode now. Managed 15 listings last week. It will probably be even less this week and next week is show set up so going into a dry spell now.
Happy Fall, y’all.

09/30/2019 at 4:14 pm #68446
Amatino, I hope you are doing okay! I’m sending you positive thoughts and wishes for the best outcome possible.
I did 25 listings last week. Expecting to do less listing this week, I’ll be busy with non-eBay stuff.
Wishing everyone a good week!

Amatino – Please tell us that everything is OK and that you are doing better! Seems like your life goes from one crazy thing to another.
I managed 32 listings last week. I hope for a similar number next week.

Hey folks, thanks for the good wishes. LOL, Sharyn, it sure has felt like it! The antibiotics have helped, my ultrasound is scheduled for late October, but I’m feeling better, so that’s good. Hopefully we’ll figure this out at the u/s and get it cleared up for sure. Anyone who says God is a woman obviously doesn’t have an uterus! Grrr…
No listings for me this last week, as expected, and I didn’t expect to have any for this coming week either, but I was just given over a dozen commemorative plates and quickly researched them to see if they were worth keeping or I should give them back (they offered to let me give them back, before you think I’ve lost ALL decency!) In the process of research, I created drafts, so they might be a quick list. Life does like throwing curveballs, doesn’t it?
Well done on your listings, ladies. Good luck on your show, VL.
Sharyn wins the week again. Spreadsheet updated.
