Zero for me this week as I just got back from the UK.
Hope everyone else had a good start to their year!

Zero for me as well. Doing some organizing and consolidating this week, then will post death pile photos in that other thread. Kids finally back to school and we are finally getting some consistent rain, so good environment for listing over here. Hope you enjoyed your trip Amatino!

Hello All,
Happy New Year! I posted 31 new listings, which is a pretty good listing week for me.
Amatino would you consider sharing some highlights of your trip? I’d love to hear about it!
Wishing everyone a great week!

Happy New Year!
I posted 25 listings and won’t do many this week as I leave for Atlanta on Wednesday and will be gone through Sunday. I listed an average of 17 items a week in 2018 and I think my more reasonable goal this year is to average 25 items listed, a 50% increase. Much easier to hit than the 50 I was previously aiming for. The problem is that I had weeks where I wasn’t able to list at all, then the next week I would have had to list 100 just to catch up. So I am good with 25 this year.
Welcome back Amatino!

Previously, I said that I would be coming back from being away and that I wasn’t expecting anything crazy for for the first week of the year. In the end, though, I listed 25 items. Much better than I expected!
Welcome back, everyone! Let’s make this a great year!

Trying a new way of sharing the numbers, with a Dropbox shared folder. Let me know if it doesn’t work.

Winner this week: Vintage Treasures. First point!
Vintage Treasures: in order to not clutter up this new thread, I’ll post info on my travels in the old one.
And, everyone, I’m still waiting for winners to email me. (Got yours Sharyn, thanks!) Please email me, I would love to send you your gewgaws.

Hi Amatino!
The dropbox works, nice job! I think my YTD is wrong though. Could you check it?
I’ll head over to the old thread for your highlights…
Thanks!

I just saw this and would love to participate. Do I add a row for myself or submit my numbers to you? I just saw the spreadsheet in dropbox, I love this idea!
-
01/09/2019 at 10:53 am #54829
I posted 79 new last week which was a lot for me. I just read the rules in the other thread. I’ll get it on time next week!

Welcome Libby!
Just post your new listing number every Monday on this thread. Amatino adds each participants amount on the dropbox spreadsheet every week, you don’t have to do anything there.
Glad to have you join us, but I’m also glad you missed the first post deadline, since that means I get to keep my point – LOL!

Hi! I got down to business this past weekend and listed 39 items. Many on Mercari, which is super fast listing though I wish they had sell similar. I made myself look through 5 boxes of coffee mugs from the death piles because I knew I had some Valentine’s and Easter mugs. I’m taking a few items from my own closet now and then to put on Mercari though I probably should give it the full Marie Kondo treatment.
I have some more consolidating to do, then I will photograph the piles. I’m happy with my progress this year, but I looked at last year’s photos and realized some of the boxes are still right there. Much work to be done in 2019. I would encourage anyone with piles to take photos. It’s pretty motivating.
-
01/14/2019 at 9:26 am #55057
I only listed 8 items.
I got a call on Wednesday that a family friend had passed away (it was expected), so I hopped on a plane Thursday and came back Saturday. It was sad, but nice to see some people that I wasn’t able to see at our end of year trip (only a week and a half earlier).
I did sell quite a lot while I was gone, and now I have 11 items to pack and ship this morning!

Week #2 I listed 50 items although I honestly have no idea how. I guess all those little spurts of listing added up between taking care of sick kids. Usually, I am surprised at how little I get get listed…this is the first time I ever did more than I thought.
-
01/14/2019 at 12:43 pm #55096
Hi Challengers!
For week #2 I added 42 new listings. Again a really good week for me but I know next week I’ll have a lot less new listings – I have a very busy week ahead.
Libby, you are amazing! How do you manage to list so many items? I don’t have children and even when my husband is out of town I can’t list that many items in a week. Are you selling similar items and using sell similar? Ladies, we have some stiff competition this year, better get cracking 🙂
I had a run of 27 days of at least one sale each day. Then on Saturday it came to a grinding halt. So even though I kept telling myself “it’ll end, don’t get bummed” of course I was:( Anyway I have sales again so back to the grindstone.
Wishing you all a great week ahead with lots and lots of sales!

Thanks for the compliment, but I am getting steam from you all! I think the main difference that allows me to spend more time listing is that I don’t typically source items (and don’t like to). Either the items come to me or I pick up in bulk. Once I pick up items, I sort by type and then do a personal assembly line for that type of item.
The real downside is that I don’t always get to choose the items or type that are consigned, and I rarely get multi-quantity things.
I would only say this on the forum, but I have been joking and saying I should change my store motto to “We Sell Your Random Crap.” LOL!

Hello Everyone,
Sharyn, so very sorry to hear about your family friend. Sending you a hug.
50, 39, 42 listings? Y’all are going to give me a run for my money this year, I can see that! I only did 10 listings this week but I was in Atlanta for most of the week. Funny side note, there’s always a “hot” animal or creature of the year…this year it’s the sloth. It was everywhere, even Christmas ornaments. And Llamas are up and coming. Saw lots of gorgeous things and displays and came back inspired and ready to have a fantastic creative very productive year.
There’s also always some very odd things at market. The real head-scratcher this year was a furniture line called Alcatraz..that’s right….PRISON-INSPIRED FURNITURE. Can you imagine Joanna Gaines incorporating the line into her look? Ha!
Libby, welcome to the group! Glad to have you on board and I am thanking you in advance for the competition…it spurs me on. 🙂
Hope everyone has a great week.

01/14/2019 at 8:01 pm #55149
Vintage Treasures – thanks. Corrected it. Yes, we have major competition this year. As I was stone last in 2018, I really have the motivation to up my game! On the other hand, it’s kinda fun being the mule that plods along and carries you guys! Ha ha ha!
Libby – welcome to the group. I’ve added your numbers for last week and will update you going forward.
ChristineR – great idea to do photos. I’m planning on creating a Death Pile Support Group, as suggested by … Vintage Treasures? I think it was VT, but if not, my apologies. We can post our photos there and discuss various DP methods, if you’re keen. I really found it motivating to clear my stuff based off the photos.
Sharyn – my sympathies for your loss. At least it wasn’t a shock.
Vintage Lacy – you nailed it! I was wondering why I was seeing so many llamas just lately and what the deal was. And, now that you mention it, a couple sloth items have come up too. People have the weirdest tastes!
My listing number for the week is zero. Zip, zilch, nada! I didn’t even get out of bed! After posting here on Monday last week, I went to the post office to drop off some orders. On Wednesday I staggered to the doctor’s office, wobbled to the chemist to pick up the prescribed antibiotics, and went back to bed. I stayed there the whole week! I started with flu on New Year’s Day, and it just got worse, and worse, and worse! The doc said I had a secondary infection – pneumonia or bronchitis or something. I felt awful. Then, to add insult to injury, the man went down with it too. Nothing like a man on his death bed when you’re sick, right? He’s a wonderful husband, and took care of me so well when I was sick, but when he gets sick, he turns into the Grinch on steroids! Anyway, I was up for a couple hours on Saturday and sewed myself a pair of panties. They’re in the rag bin. Then I got up on Sunday and sewed myself another pair of panties. They’re pretty cute, and might actually work. Couple of glaring mistakes, but okay to wear around the house. I’m sure, as I continue to learn from my mistakes, I’ll end up with some cool new underwear. It will help when I can breathe. I’ve decided there’s a direct correlation between the nose and the brain. When the nose is stuffed up, the brain doesn’t work! 🙂
I’ll try to get some posts up on the old site about my trip. Also, please will last year’s winners email me so that I can get those prizes out?
So good to be back!

@Amantino, let me know here when you start the dp thread. I still need to consolidate a bit and then take photos.
I listed 37 items this week. It was a better week for listing while my contract work is slow. Hope to list today on the holiday, then going to my Dad’s next weekend so that will be less productive. Have a good listing week ladies!
-
01/21/2019 at 1:19 pm #55510
I listed 38 items this week.
I have not been buying inventory this month. I’ve passed up on all the online auctions, my area doesn’t have found many garage or rummage sales during the cold months, and I haven’t been able to get to the live auctions so far. So, I’m hoping I can spend time this week and next working on death piles. Maybe the death pile challenge will help?
Either way, the next auctions are Jan 31, Feb 7, and Feb 8, so I need to make some progress or I will be putting stuff off yet again!

Hello Challengers!
Only 10 new listings for me; I expected my week to be “too busy to list” and it was. I just joined a knitting group so I’m learning that. Added on to the other sewing projects I’ve got going I feel like I have zero time that’s not dedicated to either household chores or hobbies. But it’s all good!
Amatino, congrats on the panty sewing. That’s something that really HAS to fit right and can be tricky. I once made a pair from a free on-line pattern that fit perfect. I’ll have to look for that pattern… I’m currently working on a quilted bag to hold my knitting and some doll clothes to hopefully up the price (or at least add that something extra) on some Sasha dolls I’ll be listing.
Also working on cleaning up the basement death piles. Sigh.
Wishing everyone a great week!

01/21/2019 at 2:31 pm #55519
48 this week.
I am just listing my personal listings, you may notice a discrepancy in the number of new listings for my store (we had over 100, but only 48 were mine). Here is to a productive week ahead! Cheers, Libby -
01/21/2019 at 8:44 pm #55547
I listed 50 items this week. I was determined to do better than last week and I was inspired by y’all. So, confession time, I went to the bins yesterday AND today. A different outlet each day. There’s just such good picking right now. Found stuff to list, stuff for my next show in April, stuff for gifts and stuff for art projects. I’ve decided that when I get at least 40 or more listings done in a week I can reward myself with a bin binge. It’s working so far…..
Hope everyone has a great week…and Amatino hope you are feeling better!

Hey folks. I went down with a bit of a relapse last week, so still not up to speed. This flu was bad. Started listing sewing machines too, from the haul that the hubs brought in last year. He’s started refurbishing the machines and this is a whole new niche to grope through and learn about. Listed 4, so I’ve at least moved off the starting plate!
@ChristineR – https://www.scavengerlife.com/forums/topic/death-pile-support-group/
@VintageTreasures – try this great idea to give structure to your bag for knitting
https://www.incolororder.com/2018/09/workshop-tote-sew-along-using-tucks-to.html
Also, add a grommet to the center front of the bag, then feed your yarn through the hole.Congratulations to all. Great going so far!

38 for the week, which is not a great number for me. I also was not consistent with daily listing which does help my sales (I listed on 2 days instead of all 7), reminder that I need to be consistent daily!
-
01/27/2019 at 9:25 pm #55975
I had 19 for the week, which is low.
However, I’m pretty happy about it because about 11 were from death piles (including 5 electric typewriters requiring testing), and 8 were parts from a personally owned vacuum cleaner that stopped working for us.
Amatino – I hope you are feeling better!

Listed 51 items for the week….went like gangbusters early in the week then other things came along that needed attention…seems to happen a lot that way. Spent a great deal of time moving inventory from a storage unit into a rental garage this weekend, will save me $100 a month in storage and its only 7 minutes from my house, instead of 20 minutes. A good time to get it organized as well.
Hope everyone has a great week and I second Sharyn in saying hope you are better Amatino.

01/28/2019 at 10:12 am #55991
I was out of town some of this week helping my dad prepare to sell his house but managed to list 8 items. Hoping for a better week this week. Thanks Amatino for the DP support thread and hope you are feeling better. I’ll be taking photos soon. My appetite for picking up more stuff is already off, and looking at the photos helps keep it even more suppressed. Have a great week ladies.

01/28/2019 at 12:34 pm #56005
Whoo-hoo Vintage Lacy, you are killing it!!!
My sad total for the week was 13 new items. I’m working on sorting through a bunch of dolls and doll clothes I collected about 20 years ago that I plan to sell. I made most of the clothes, but never quite finished a lot of them, so getting those all done and ready to sell is taking forever. Should be decent $ when I finally get them listed though.
Amatino, thank you for the link for the bag, I’d already cut a bag out but it may end up too small so I may use your link yet! I hope you are back to feeling well now…
Also, ouch on the new USPS rates. I just mailed a 13 ounce package 4 states away and the postage was $5.24. I’ve never charged over $5.00 for up to 16 ounces, on 13 ounces I’d have charged just over $4.00. (I’ve always used a flat rate for postage). Gonna have to change to calculated and weigh everything from now on! Of course I’m too lazy to change all my current listings so I’ll be eating some postage on those…
Wishing everyone a great week!
-
01/29/2019 at 1:36 pm #56077
Thanks for all the good wishes folks. I’m feeling better, although my listing for last week was zero as I worked almost exclusively on the hub’s sewing business and my dance class.
I’ve got to get photos up in the DPA (Death Pile Anonymous… like that one from Liz) and will work on clearing it. It’s really rather awful… and I added to it this week with another haul. Sigh…
Spreadsheet updated. Winner this week: Vintage Lacy.

02/03/2019 at 5:31 pm #56336
I am so happy, I did 68 listings this week! I am really happy with this because I had some items I was really dreading, and now it is done. Now to tag and put away . . .oh and I am going to try and beat that number this week!
-
02/04/2019 at 3:00 am #56347
That’s an amazing number Libby, congrats! I did 36 listings this week.
Charlie and I did something really fun today. It was Superbowl Sunday so we decided to have our own Super BIN Sunday. We spent several hours each at three different bins in the area…about nine hours in total, plus driving from place to place and stopping to eat, twice. And man, did we score! He ended up with a bunch and so did I. I was most thrilled finding a bunch of vintage Christmas, including a couple of putz houses. I NEVER see these so today was my lucky day. It was exhausting but so much fun too. And his van was packed wall to wall!
Now it’s time to sort, clean, and list…or price for my shows.
Hope everyone has a great week!

That sounds like so much fun! I wish you weren’t across the country, I would love to play your Superbowl version!

The Goodwill outlets (also called the Bins) are located all over the country. In NJ, I’ve been to the one closest to me in Bellmawr, which, unfortunately, is an hour drive. I found a few websites that might help you find the ones in your area:

Congrats ladies. I have a lot going on outside of Ebay at this time. I managed to list 6 items. Hope to squeeze in more this week. Have a nice week.
-
02/04/2019 at 11:38 am #56378
I listed 27 items this week.
I did go to my first auction of the year, which was also my first sourcing trip. I find that the auctions are overpriced until March or so. I guess people are either spending money that they received as holiday gifts or resellers are getting their inventory back up. I did buy one lot of vintage Fiesta Ware. All were listed this week and are part of the 27 items.
-
02/04/2019 at 12:07 pm #56382
Ummm, I listed zero this week and I am hanging my head in shame. On a positive note, I have no place to go but up from here.
Great job everyone else!
Wishing everyone a great week ahead.
-
02/04/2019 at 1:49 pm #56394
I am fortunate that the bins are great in my area. However, when I have traveled they’ve been less great so I think it depends on where you are at and how many pickers go to each one and how much the surrounding community donates. I went to one in Southern Oregon last summer that was really bad….small with tons of people. I left without buying anything, which was a first for me. I also went to one in Sacramento on the same trip and ran into the same problem. I don’t buy clothing to resell unless its vintage and those two had mostly fast fashion clothing. So results may vary.

02/06/2019 at 3:10 pm #56516
Hello everyone! Sorry for the late update, I’ve spent the last two days running errands for the hub’s business. HIS business is doing really well! Mine… er….
I listed only one item this week, but it sold within 20 minutes for $200 plus shipping, so I’m not unhappy per se. It’s just that I have a HUGE death pile and could really use some time to get through it all. On a positive note, the hubs is away for the next three weeks, so hopefully I can really hit those piles. On a negative note, the hubs is away for the next three weeks…. 😉
Vintage Lacy, I’ve never heard of putz houses before! I looked them up online and it says they’re cardboard houses. There’s one selling for $45 online. $45 for a cardboard house? Seriously?
Congratulations Libby on your listing numbers. Wow! Winner this week by far!
-
02/10/2019 at 9:43 am #56684
Posting early because I’m on my way out of town. 12 new listings for me.
Wishing everyone a great week ahead!
-
02/11/2019 at 9:25 am #56713
I only had four new listings last week. Listings are low due to both eBay and non-eBay related activities.
I did go to an auction on Friday, so my listing numbers will be better this week.
-
02/11/2019 at 10:12 am #56722
Busy outside Ebay again and listed only 2 items this week. Holiday weekend with part of my family out of town, so this weekend might be a good opportunity to list.
-
02/11/2019 at 12:53 pm #56741
Hubs didn’t leave town, as anticipated, but had a vehicle breakdown instead. So zero for me.
However, I’ve already started listing today, so I’ll have numbers to put up by the end of this week. Woot woot! 😉
-
02/11/2019 at 2:02 pm #56747
I had 22 listings for last week.
Cray cray week….and this week looks like the same.
At least we didn’t get the Snow apocalypse they were predicting. People were standing in lines that snaked all over the grocery stores for an hour or more….because, hey, they only predicted it a few days ahead and why not panic a few hours before it was supposed to hit? I know one woman who waited TWO HOURS in line.
And the big joke is that the grocery stores were all running out of KALE. Seriously. Only in Portland. 🙂
-
02/11/2019 at 6:26 pm #56787
I really don’t get this fascination with kale. It’s horrible stuff. Personally, I love Swiss Chard, but it’s nearly impossible to find in this neck of the woods. Here we get kale (ugh) turnip greens, and collard greens. No shortage of those crops!

02/12/2019 at 2:39 pm #56867
I missed the deadline for submission, but I listed 58 items this week. Now I need to get back to digging out of the snow and sleet! Have a great week, when I don’t feel like listings, you guys keep me going!
-
02/15/2019 at 11:56 am #57031
Oh my gosh, folks, I’m so sorry! I blame it on usually being the last person to post anything, and because I had posted in this thread, my mind said “done” and I completely forgot to come back and do the spreadsheet! Dang, I suck! 🙁
Spreadsheet updated. Libby wins the week.
Will note in my calendar in future to update on Tuesdays.
-
02/15/2019 at 10:03 pm #57049
Hello All,
I’m posting early because I’m going out of town again in the morning. Just 2 new listings for me. Going out of town sure isn’t helping me get things listed! On a positive note: I have kept to my resolution to workout 3 times a week (I’m 100% at that since late December). Which meant I worked out this week on Wed, Thurs and Friday. Ouch.
I’m wondering if Vintage Lacy actually won last week due to Libby missing the submission deadline? I know that was the only way I once beat Libby – she’s a listing machine!!! I need a lot more Libby in my life!
Wishing everyone a great week!
-
02/18/2019 at 7:38 pm #57245
Yes! Vintage Lacey did win, I was way too late submitting! And I was not a machine this week, but you guys definitely keep me moving.

02/17/2019 at 5:54 pm #57136
Hello again,
Update on my listings total: I’m now at 7 instead of 2. Hubby didn’t feel well on Saturday morning so we didn’t leave town and I managed to do a few more listings.
I’m hoping to do better on listing this upcoming week, before our houseguests arrive. I know after they get here I won’t be able to list at all 🙁 I’m getting down to the stuff I put aside to list “later” because it’s more complicated: needs work, or more research or figuring out what it actually is before I can list it. So that’s slowing me down as far as listing… And I’m trying to hold off on the urge to just go out and buy stuff that’s easier to list 🙂 I did buy 2 items last Tuesday for a total of $2.16 and sold them both already. So I really need to remember all the times stuff has just not sold AT ALL to keep myself from buying anything more.
Hope all is well with all of you and your unsold piles are shrinking instead of growing!
-
02/18/2019 at 4:08 am #57152
Hello everyone and Happy Monday…..
I actually accomplished 40 listings this week, and considering all the other stuff going on I am quite pleased. I also spent several hours researching a huge pile of backlogged vintage books, so now I know how to price them and where to sell them….Etsy, Ebay, or my vintage show in April.
Vintage Treasures, it’s so hard to resist the urge to go buy more! I will confess to a wee shopping trip to the bins on Thursday, but I was very good and only brought home a small box worth, instead of a whole shopping cart worth. That’s being prudent, for me. 🙂
Hope everyone has a great week!
-
02/18/2019 at 10:29 am #57164
I listed 4 items this week and I’ve really lost my listing enthusiasm for the first time in a long while. My daughter and I spent some nice time together but potential listing time was more limited than I figured it would be. I’m focused on my bookkeeping because I don’t track COGS throughout the year so it takes a while…(said with Eeyore voice).
-
02/18/2019 at 10:32 am #57165
I listed 41 items. I think the most so far this year because I didn’t do any work on death pile items and I had a large number of items from an auction purchase the previous week.
-
02/18/2019 at 3:08 pm #57222
@Vintage Treasures You’re right. I was in such a rush to get the updated spreadsheet done I missed that. Sorry. Have corrected it on the spreadsheet, so it will show correctly for last week.
@ChristineR Last year was a real pain in the whatsit because I didn’t track COGS either, so this year I changed my SKU. I have an alphanumeric SKU that denotes category and item number. So A001 is the first item in the Automotive category and K396 is almost 400 clothes items. Now I’m adding a new alphanumeric to that set, denoting source and cost. So T5 = thrift store $5 and Y.25 = yard sale 25c. The new SKU would then show up as K396T5, for example. I’m also doing my best to list what I get in the week I get it, partially so that I don’t lose my cost and partially so that I don’t add to my Death Piles. We’ll see if that makes my life any easier come taxes 2020! Ha!Yay, I listed 8 items! Hold me back! 😛 I was pretty chuffed that I got that much done, although I really really REALLY wanted to do better, but it has been one clown short of a circus around here the past few weeks. Today I spent all morning with one of my dancers designing two of her dance costumes. I’ve got beads, rhinestones, lace, ribbon, feathers and fabric spread all over! It looks like a unicorn exploded in here! Tomorrow I’m doing a packing presentation at a ladies church group. However, the hubs has gone on the trip he was supposed to leave on a couple weeks ago, so now I can get stuck into stuff that’s on MY to do list rather than his! Perhaps I’ll manage to clear his machine backlog, clean up my unicorn ordnance, and get some serious listing numbers up.

I listed 28 this week, but look out, I am gearing up for this week, LOL. Great job everyone!

Spreadsheet updated. And Sharyn’s on the board with her first point! Well done!
-
02/21/2019 at 11:21 am #57430
@Sharyn I owe you an apology! I’m so sorry!
I was muttering about how I’ve got these prizes for last year’s Challenge and nobody has emailed me the addresses and then I found your email. You sent it while I was sick and it kind of got buried in the deluge. I think the Universe was just waiting for me to start muttering and then unveiled it with a smug Sheldon Cooper BAZINGA! 😀
It will be in the mail this week! I hope you like it. Especially as you had to wait so long!
-
02/21/2019 at 2:00 pm #57443
Amatino – You’re a doll. Not a problem at all.
But, if I’m the only one who gets the prize, then I’ll be the envy of the 2018 Listing Challenge!
All six or so of us.

Hello everyone! This is my first post and I’m just getting started flipping things. This will be super motivational for me and help me stay accountable.
I posted 14 items last week and I’m just starting with the things around my house and will turn the profits from that into a bankroll to use to source other items.
I probably have another 30-40 things I’m going to post from cleaning out our closets. Excited to keep y’all posted!
-
02/23/2019 at 2:32 pm #57519
Welcome Sam!
I hope you find our challenging as motivational as I do. It really helps, and the camaraderie is excellent as well.
-
02/25/2019 at 12:09 pm #57618
I listed 68 unique items this week. I can’t believe it, I felt like I was really struggling to list. Hope you all had a good week!
-
02/25/2019 at 12:19 pm #57622
Holy cow, Libby! Do you sleep as a hobby? Sheesh!
Where’s the button to decrease font size on this thread? I want to make my next sentence really really small…
I listed 2 last week.
-
02/25/2019 at 12:31 pm #57625
Amatino….you have the BEST sense of humor. Truly. The BEST.
Libby…I can see that I am going to have to seriously up my game if I am going to give you a run for your money. You are a listing BEAST. Congrats!
I listed 57 items last week. What that means is that I give myself permission to go to the bins this week…wheeeeeee!
I did hit a picked over estate sale yesterday but still found two boxes full of vintage Christmas ornaments for a mere $4. I do so love my vintage Christmas finds.
Hope everyone has a great week!
-
02/25/2019 at 12:38 pm #57627
I listed 40 items this week, which pretty much matched last week. I listed all the items from a recent online auction plus a few others.
So, I’m now on my work on death piles because I don’t have anything easy to list this week. My number will be much lower next Monday.
However, I have four online auctions that I’m interested in. I’m trying to figure out how many I can do because three of them have pickups on Saturday in the same 10 to 3 PM. You never know whether there is going to be a wait to get in, then there is the time it takes to pack, and then there’s the driving time.
No matter how many I go to, I’ll have much more to list in two weeks!
-
02/25/2019 at 2:35 pm #57643
Hello All and Welcome Sam!
I listed 23 items and I feel good about my number, even though I’m sitting on the low end of our listing arc here. Thanks for keeping me motivated everyone, you are killing it! But I’m really really grateful for you, Amatino. Part of me wants you to list as many items as you wish, but another part of me is praying you don’t start hitting your marks and then leave me far behind – LOL!
Thanks Vintage Lacy for confirming that it’s difficult not to shop for more stuff. I did manage to not go to the most amazing estate sale I’ve heard about in a long time – there were 400 Steiffs in boxes, plus all kinds of other amazing vintage things.
To console myself for missing that sale I did a wee bit of half price day thrifting, but I spent less than $20, so not too bad. I’m using the time not spent shopping to shop my own stored items (doesn’t that sound so much better than death piles?). Which was pretty fun, I didn’t remember the stuff so it was just like discovering and buying more stuff without the $ spent! So thanks also for the deathpile thread Amatino, it’s motivated me to clean up my basement. So far I’ve probably worked for 8 hours on it and it looks only a little bit better – ouch! But like items are now stored together and I can find them to list them, so that’s great! Still have a lot to do though…
Wishing everyone a great week!

Well, very busy life outside Ebay. I’m doing some heavy duty parenting, working on tax records, helping my dad prepare to sell his house and move here, and also I have some school fundraising volunteering coming up plus a fun and overdue girls’ weekend this coming weekend in Scottsdale. Soo, just filling orders and they are few and far between. Nothing to ship from the weekend. I listed zero items this week. Sigh. At least I’m not shopping. Missed a church sale this weekend.
-
02/26/2019 at 11:50 am #57709
@Sam Welcome! Great to have you on board. You are in the spreadsheet!
@VintageLacy Thanks. LOL. What Christmas ornaments do you like? I was given a whole batch of Christmas stuff (it’s in my Death Piles) and have dozens of the not-so-vintage Hallmark Collection. Must get back to those… sigh…
@VintageTreasures My total listing for the year is less than Sam’s who only joined this week. I don’t think you’re in any danger! ROFL. Now that you’ve cleaned up your basement, post photos in the Death Pile thread so we can admire it.
@ChristineR I feel your pain. I’ve been working flat out…. but not on eBay. I’m hustling the heck out of my husband’s business, and I’m working on new costumes for our student showcase in June. I have to make two harem pants for ladies who had problems with their pants last year, half a dozen new backdrops (at 8 ft wide and 25 ft long each), new wardrobe items for the dozen new dancers, plus three costumes for me. I’ll post photos when I’m done – so! much! bling! Oh… and then there’s taxes…. I hate taxes. Strongly of a mind to just put in an extension request and do them after the showcase.Spreadsheet updated. Winner this week: Libby

@vintagetreasures Better hustle! I listed 10 items today!
(If it makes you feel any better, that’s all the listing I’ve done this week so far, but… TEN!) 😀
-
03/04/2019 at 11:07 am #58053
Meh! Famous last words up there ^ methinks.
Listed 10 for the week.
Well, isn’t that one for red cheeks! 😀
-
03/04/2019 at 2:09 pm #58085
Amatino you have the best sense of humor, you make me laugh with every post! Love you! And you doubled my number with your 10 listings, I only managed 5, so nothing there for you to have red cheeks about 🙂
I had houseguests starting last Thursday, they just left, so listing last week was impossible. The days before they arrived were spent getting ready for houseguests and now I’ll be doing the clean up from having houseguests so this week will probably be another low listing week for me.
The positive is I sold one of the dolls I mentioned a few weeks ago (items I was working on that take me a lot of time to prepare for listing – as an excuse for my low listing numbers most likely). The doll sold at auction for $405.00 and has been paid for! Yippee! My highest ever eBay sale.
So for sure I’m going to take the time to work on getting some of the other of the same dolls that I have ready for listing. On a side note I found that sold doll listing copied photo for photo and word for word as a BIN for $54.00 with free shipping from a zero feedback seller in Asia. They must just immediately steal listings for items that sell for over a certain price with over a certain number of watchers and put list as BIN then take the money and disappear from eBay. Of course when I found the copied listing I called eBay and they took it down.
Wishing everyone a great week!
-
03/04/2019 at 2:33 pm #58087
i actually only listed 5 as well.
I also ended six older items from stock, retook photos, and relisted them. I don’t think that these count, but it was part of the reason I didn’t list as much new stuff. Other reasons were trying to fix my dishwasher (part on order), working on death pile stuff that takes longer, and an online auction pickup on Friday.
-
03/04/2019 at 2:37 pm #58090
I had a wonderful getaway weekend with close friends. Back to reality now with a lot of non-Ebay extras going on, including more bookkeeping and taxes for Ebay. So, zero listed last week.
-
03/04/2019 at 3:30 pm #58098
Well, this is funny. I listed 16 items last week. I truly thought I was going to be at the back of the pack. Looks like most of us were in the same boat, with non-Ebay life taking front and center.
Amatino, I love the funky old 60s/70s Christmas ornaments and they do quite well for me. I sell them mostly at my show, but some of the higher value ones I stick online too. I like the felt-sequined ones made from the Bucilla kits, the old painted wood figures, the bent knee elves, oh I like it all. The more sparkly and chintzy the better. Some of them haven’t been “discovered” yet as a collectible so you can pick them up cheap.
Congrats Vintage Treasures on the terrific doll sale! I dream about a big sale like that.
Hope everyone has a great week!

Thank you for the congrats Vintage Lacy!

03/05/2019 at 1:13 pm #58165
Congrats indeed Vintage Treasures! What kind of doll was it?
Sam and Libby missed the cutoff, if you give me the numbers I’ll update the schedule, but you default on any win.
Spreadsheet updated. Winner this week: Vintage Lacy

03/05/2019 at 4:54 pm #58186
Thanks Amatino! It was an Italian doll made by Sebino in the 1960’s. I have 5 or 6 more of them. 2 or 3 have the original boxes, so I hope those also sell for a good amount.

Weekend Bonus Point Mini Challenge!
If you have not listed anything yet, list at least one item this weekend. If you have listed something already this week, list at least one more. These items count towards your weekly total (of course) but put in a note how many you listed today and tomorrow under Bonus Point Challenge.
Bonus Point challenges are not about how MANY you listed, but that you DID list, so anyone who lists today and tomorrow will be put into a random draw. Winner gets one point, separate to the weekly challenge point.
-
03/09/2019 at 3:31 pm #58374
I got 8 items listing this morning between kid duties and taxi service. Multiples but better than none. I think my Ebay store had a thick layer of dust on it. Quite a few 16 month banners going on :/ Next week we have company coming. Ugh.
-
03/09/2019 at 6:29 pm #58378
@ChristineR We can write our store names in the dust on our respective stores! LOL
I posted the challenge this morning to motivate me to list as I had zero for the week. I’m gonna blow y’all out the water this week. Jes’ sayin’… 😉 😀
-
03/10/2019 at 10:21 pm #58416
I did 29 new listings (more than I expected to accomplish) but I put off the long prep high dollar items and did the easy to list low dollar stuff instead. I’m working on the slow to prep items now so I’ll have way less new listings next Monday.
Amatino thank you for the self-motivation mini challenge – I hope you did well with it! I’m not sure if I actually qualify for the bonus point drawing – I listed 5 items on Saturday but I listed them before I saw your mini challenge post. By the time I saw your post I had switched to prepping instead of listing.
ChristineR & Amatino: My store needs dusting too, I had 2 days last week with zero sales 🙁
-
03/11/2019 at 2:44 am #58422
I did 25 new listings this week, five of which were this weekend after Amatino posted the challenge. My Spring vintage show is just a few weeks away so I am now in show prep mode, but hope to keep up the listing too. Nice sunny day today so did lots of storage reorganization out in the sunshine!! Here in Oregon we have to make our sunny days count! 🙂
-
03/11/2019 at 9:47 am #58431
I listed 18 items this week, 9 of which were listed on Saturday. I was busy with an online auction pickup and two live auctions, but now I have stuff to list. I should be listing much more this week with no auctions in sight.
@VintageTreasures – I had no sales this Saturday. Saturday! That’s crazy. I’m seeing other no sale days scattered here and there, maybe once a week, but then I’ll have a day with 4 or 5 sales, so it evens out. -
03/11/2019 at 9:48 am #58432
With zero for the week, I posted the Mini Challenge to motivate me, and others like me, into making the effort to post at least ONE item. I decided to list a batch of U.S. States fridge magnets. I wanted to create a single listing with variations, but eBay didn’t have an option for variations in that category. WTF eBay?
Sheer perversity later, I created 51 individual listings for my magnets. I kid you not! It wasn’t really that big a deal as I just had to change the name and nickname of the state, the measurements, and the photos on a Sell Similar listing. Only 2 photos; front and back. Plus I scanned the magnets and then cropped the scan to create the photos of each one, scanning a batch of 4 at a time. And I didn’t sweat the small stuff (Sharyn would be so proud of me for resisting the OCD urge.) But it still took me about 8 hours!
So my number is 51 for the week, and all on Saturday! Ha! I’m a lunatic, it’s official!
Now, please excuse me, I have to go do a couple of test runs at our firing range to ensure that all the guns work, just in case those guys in a white van turn up and I need to run them off…
“Just try on this nice little white coat, Toni, it’s super comfy. Especially when we do up the buckles on the back!” Mwaaaaaaaaahahahahahahahahahaha!-
03/11/2019 at 9:52 am #58433
Amatino – should I bid on this for you?

Great job! I listed 9 RA items, all the new clearance I have in hand so back to new being 100% listed. Don’t need any more used, vintage piles but I went late to a church sale and found a cute little midcentury painting, some 70s print napkins, and a 60s art instruction book. Glad I didn’t go on time because there were ghosts of better stuff that I don’t need to add to the piles. I have missed two out of our three “monster” rummage sales. I have to admit it hurts just a wee bit to see the announcements but I’m staying away.

I got a white board, put it on fridge and mark down my daily goals. It sounds simple, but it does keep me on track. I am INCREDIBLY slow lister. I don’t know how people are so fast. All of my items need to be cleaned/ prepped, sometimes laundered and treated, etc.
My main problem is my lack of prep area. My goals is to create am intake dump/ prep table in my basement.
-
03/18/2019 at 9:50 pm #58915
I have a white board on my fridge too, but I just list the date and how many items I have in my store when I hit a high. I have been working in my dining room, and that is my prep area. I have to say, my family really puts up with a lot of my work stuff in our living space, but it is how I get stuff done.

03/12/2019 at 1:43 pm #58575
@bcfol440 From one slow lister to another – just so you list. That’s all that counts. Sure, if we’d list faster, we’d sell more, so we pressure ourselves, but the fact is we DO list. We’re the plodders. Every community needs a couple. Slow and steady tortoises!
It looks like Libby and Sam have dropped off. 🙁 If you come back, I’ll reinstate you, folks. Please feel free to come back!
Wasn’t the mini challenge fun? It gave me a kick in the keister, and I actually won the week! Wow! Was so sure Libby would give ma a smackdown. LOL.
For the random generator, as you can see from this week’s schedule, I assigned each person a number and then used random.org to generate a number. So I got a point this week, and so did ChristineR with the bonus point. Well done all on a great week.
The mini challenges are engaging, but I will not do them too regularly, or they’ll lose the surprise oomph. Just often enough to keep you folks on your toes! LOL
-
03/15/2019 at 5:04 pm #58705
I am still here! Reinstate me please 🙂 Week 9, I had 28, and week 10 was 27. Sorry to be late, it has just been a crazy 2 weeks and I was struggling to just get the basics done!
Trying to get some listings done for this week, so get ready . . .LOL -
03/16/2019 at 9:41 pm #58735
Okay, week 11, I am putting in early because I am done listing for the week! 39. I really need to buckle down this week, I have 3 consignors to process, and one more coming in on Monday. Yikes! Have a great week everyone.
-
03/18/2019 at 9:27 am #58847
Welcome back Libby! Week 11 for me: just 7 new listings, I’ll do better this week though.
Wishing everyone a great week!
-
03/18/2019 at 9:32 am #58852
No shopping but only was able to get to 2 items. Feeling very overwhelmed outside Ebay and trying to get on top of things. Sometimes Ebay just has to go back burner. I look forward to attacking a box from the piles again when I can. Have a great week.
-
03/18/2019 at 10:15 am #58854
Looks like I tied Libby this week, also with 39 listed.
I plan to focus on taxes this week. I’m always doing them last minute, so I’ll be happy if I get them done in March instead of April. On the other hand, I took lots of photos last week, and I probably have probably 30 – 40 items ready to list. Depending on taxes and outside stuff, I might get them done.
Time will only tell …
-
03/18/2019 at 9:48 pm #58914
Hi Sharyn! So cool we tied, very happy to be back in the action! But I need to start taxes . . . so I may be having a slow week coming up!

03/18/2019 at 1:56 pm #58890
Hey Libby, don’t stress. I always add people back in, no trouble at all. Glad you made it back! 🙂
To my surprise, my magnets from last week have been selling quite steadily. Who knew? But I’m not going to rush out and find more. The profit almost isn’t, so it’s really not worth my time. I was getting rid of a set off my own fridge, so it was just a case of throw ’em up.
The man came home – yay – with a case of flu – boo! – but he got over it quickly – yay! – by passing it on to me. &*T^:%$U^Y(*&(UYHO*E$&W%!!!!!!! Mine developed into a secondary infection again, needing antibiotics again. Grrrr…. But I’m feeling much better now. If you’re wondering why I don’t just get the flu vaccine, I’m allergic. Much to the surprise of all the doctors, because I’m not allergic to anything that they usually list as allergens (eggs, etc.) However, it nearly killed me when we discovered my system doesn’t like it, and the docs reckon, based on the severity of my reaction, that I might not make it to the emergency room if I try it again.
Ladies, have you ever just casually thrown out an idea to the hubs and then been horrified when he ran with it? I mean, I had a To Do list all planned out for my weekend, but just happened to mention to Himself that we really need to make an effort to get out once in a while. I get to go to dance class once a week, but he can spend a month without even leaving the ranch. There was no way I could say “but I didn’t mean THIS weekend!” after I was the one who brought it up! So I had a fun-filled weekend out and about (he even took me to two garage sales AND a Trade Days show!) instead of listing when I finally felt well enough to do so. Thus, not only do I have MORE stuff to add to my Death Piles, I have zero listings for the week.
And why the heck am I complaining about having an awesome husband? *looks askance at flu meds…*
-
03/18/2019 at 11:03 pm #58919
So much sunshine here in Portland..it’s almost a sin. Almost. Which means I have been working on all kinds of things that require a lack of steady rain, like getting my storage ready for my upcoming show in a couple of weeks. ChristineR, I totally understand your feeling overwhelmed, as I have have been feeling that way too. Being pulled in a dozen different directions adds a lot of stress. So I am going to just list when I can and be okay with smaller numbers for a few weeks….and come back with a vengeance afterwards…..that’s the plan anyway. I listed 21 items last week.
Amatino you DO have a great husband! But I can relate to your initial reaction too! It’s a matter of finding a good balance between work and play. My focus tends to be way too heavily slanted towards work. I need to change that thought process and not freak out when I take an actual day off to do only fun stuff.
Hope everyone has a great week!

03/19/2019 at 3:45 pm #58944
We have a tie this week, so Libby and Sharyn both got a point. And now we have a tie for leader too! 😀

03/24/2019 at 7:08 pm #59162
Good and bad news this week, I listed 119 unique items, which is a record for me. I have not started my taxes yet!
-
03/24/2019 at 8:45 pm #59167
Zero for me. Another week of being completely overwhelmed with outside Ebay stuff. Hope you all had a good week.
-
03/24/2019 at 9:08 pm #59173
119 listings! I can’t even imagine. I have too many outside distractions. My daughter does go off to college next school year, so that might help.
I did do some organizational work on taxes, but I haven’t actually started them except to install Turbo Tax. At least I made some progress.
I did manage to list 37 items.
-
03/24/2019 at 10:31 pm #59177
Wow, 119 listings, I’m amazed – good job Libby!
24 listings for me which is over 3x the amount I listed last week, so I’m good with that. I’m hoping to accomplish more this week by listing a lot (for me!) of easy quick list low dollar items while still putting another one of my long prep high dollar dolls up. I just sold another doll for $249.95 tonight so I guess the prep time is worth it. Most of my sales average less than $20 🙁
Wishing everyone a great week ahead!
-
03/25/2019 at 4:35 am #59179
27 items for me this past week. Totally in show mode now but will try to still get some done this week.
-
03/25/2019 at 11:43 am #59200
Libby, what the heck are you doing on a listing challenge thread? You’re not challenged at all! Dang! Now the rest of us… we’re all feeling not only challenged but TOASTED! 😀 Well done you!
I managed 3 listings this week although I did nearly 2 dozen photographs. Getting the photos edited and items packed, weighed, and numbered didn’t work out for last week’s listings. Should have a good week this week.
Am I dumb enough to say Challenge Accepted to Libby? Hmmmm….. nah. Crazy, yes. Insane, not yet! LOL
-
03/25/2019 at 8:59 pm #59285
I know, I know, even this was out of the ordinary for me! I kept thinking about all of you listing away . . . and for some reason, it just spurred me on. This week will be slower for me, as I need to revisit some old listing and revise!
-
03/26/2019 at 1:09 pm #59307
LOL. Well, I’m glad you’re feeling motivated by the group, that’s what we’re for. The rest of us just need to invest in some eye drops to handle all the dust you’re leaving us in! 😀
-
03/26/2019 at 1:15 pm #59309
Spreadsheet updated. Winner this week: Libby.
I guess we lost Sam.
-
03/31/2019 at 5:16 pm #59440
What a week . . . got through some nagging death piles and cleared them. Unfortunately, no gems in the pile, but I did manage to list 44 items. I am hoping I don’t win this week, and that you guys all blew me away!
-
03/31/2019 at 6:59 pm #59450
Well, I won’t be providing any challenge! I had lots of outside of eBay stuff going on this week. I managed 12 new listings.
-
03/31/2019 at 6:59 pm #59451
Libby you still beat me – LOL!
Still I feel good about listing 35 items, that’s a lot for me. I implemented a tip from Amazing Taste, she keeps a basket of “easy to list” items for when she doesn’t feel like listing. I embellished on that idea and decided that I would list 3 easy items first thing each morning, which worked out really well. Sadly these are very low dollar items, which will kill my ASP, but at least I’ll finally get them out of my basement death pile (she said hopefully). Also I ended up feeling good about listing 3 things on eBay before 8:00 am each morning instead of feeling guilty about avoiding listing all day long.
I couldn’t find the high dollar doll that I had in mind to list next, so I moved on to another one and fell down the rabbit hole of making extra clothes to sell with it, hoping that it will sell for more with those “extras”. Fun, since I love to sew, but probably not the best use of my time as far as making $. I’d like to think I’d work differently (and be much more like Libby:)) if eBay was a real business for me instead of a hobby, but I’m not sure that’s actually the case; I’m more of a dabbler.
I’m not sure how my upcoming week will go, I expect I’ll have a lower # of new listings, I’ve got a busy week ahead. I hope to at least keep doing the 3 easy listings every morning though.
Wishing you all a great week ahead!
-
04/01/2019 at 11:30 am #59493
27 for me. Have a nice week ladies.
-
04/01/2019 at 1:59 pm #59531
47 for me….I really pushed it this weekend because the next two weeks are going to be zero for me. We load the 2 26-ft Uhaul trucks on Thursday and then show set up begins. I have been hitting estate sales and the bins really hard since January and have much more vintage goodness for the show than usual in the spring so I am excited about the potential for great sales personally.
Hope everyone has a great week!
-
04/01/2019 at 7:44 pm #59557
Hey ladies! Welcome to the first week of the second quarter! Hard to fathom we’re down 3 months already!
To my chagrin, I missed that a bunch of items had serial numbers in last week’s photo session, so I have to redo the photos. I did half of them, the balance will be listed this week, so I have only 11 items listed for this week. I’m such a doofus some days! However, I did get a vintage sewing machine up and it has 75 views and 5 watchers already, so I’m hopeful for a sale soon. Only have 5 more machines to list that The Machine has gotten through his workshop already. Honestly, that man’s middle name must be Productivity!
As we’ve all posted already for this week, and Sam appears to have dropped off the Challenge, the Spreadsheet is updated. Winner is Vintage Lacy.
This will be the last post of this thread, as it is pretty long and we’re starting a new quarter. Go look for thread #2 for future posts. Started it so that we can pop straight across to it.
