I decided to check out the hubub about cubic shipping. First package Was an 8x8x8 at 6lb. Pirate ship was $1.20 cheaper than ebay. Ok I’ll try to import ebay and use it.
It was super easy and smooth.
It seems most USPS packages are at least a few cents cheaper.
The user interface is so simple and easy.
Scan sheets are ridiculously easy to make and print – just click a single button when you are done for the day.
Ebay only gives me $50 insurance on USPS – Pirate ship gives me $100.WHY did I wait so long to try this?!? It seems I’ve been leaving hundreds of dollars on the table by using ebay labels.
Do yourself a favor and sign up/start using pirate ship. You won’t regret it.

Thats so interesting. I got a pirate ship account and every time I check against Ebay prices they are either exactly the same or cost more!
Having said that, I seldom sell things that are compact and heavey (except books which can go media mail).
I often sell things that are large and light. The cubic measurements on Pirate ship don’t appear to help in this instance.
But happy it’s working for you!

What items are you shipping that you find are so much cheaper?

The real savings with Pirate Ship is with International Shipping — you have to ask them to activate their Simple Import Rate (just a quick request through their chat) and it saves sometimes as much as $5 off the discounted eBay rate. If you can ship an item in a shoebox shaped box rather than a cube, there’s also sometimes a savings and you can get envelope rate if you put a box in a bag. I also like it because I can pull in sales from ebay, etsy and my Instagram paypal invoices so I just have to print one SCAN sheet

I compared pricing a few times and wasn’t as lucky ..always higher.
I LOVE PirateShip – we use it a lot, but not for eBay
maybe I will try it again -

Yeah I got lucky on the first few it seems. On most run of the mill items the price the same as ebay. Never higher though. Still, I get 100 insurance so it is technically better even when the price is the same.
I’ll be checking both for a while to get a good feel for when pirateship should be my go-to. I could have swore pirateship did FedEx too, but I never see any fedex quotes there.
I’ve done some experiments and pirateship will mainly save me money on heavier shoes.

Top Rated Sellers automatically get $100 Insurance on Priority Mail if they use Ebay labels.

I had a rash of late shipments due to an extended handling time miscalculation that screwed my top rated status. I should be top rated again by December.
Late shipments stay on your top rated caluclation for 12 months. Ugh…

Top Rated as well as sellers with at least 300 transactions during the previous month will receive $100 of insurance coverage with each USPS Priority Mail purchased using eBay labels.

Just started using this week – helped a ton with two facebook sales – both shipped – basically gave me ebay pricing without ebay fees. Super nice! I think it will allow me to be a little more aggressive on sales on facebook and instagram

PirateShip is great, but only cheaper on Cubic. Otherwise eBay with Top Rated discount always wins. Great for non-eBay sales though, that’s true!

I use ShippingEasy, a subscription service. They also have the cubic rate, which saves me more each month than what I pay them for the monthly service.
On a single interface, I can ship orders from my 2 eBay stores, Amazon, and Shopify. A drop-down option on the shipping page lets me easily compare USPS, FedEx, UPS or others if I wanted those.
I switched to using them several years ago, before that, I used the Stamps.com shipping but outgrew that limited app.

PirateShip is pretty good and a good way to save on shipping for heavier items that are under 0.5 cubic feet.
When USPS had the commercial plus rates last year, PirateShip and eBay Top Rated Sellers, had the same rates for priority and first class across the board except PirateShip also had the Cubic Priority rates.
Earlier in the year when the new rates first came out and the Commercial Plus rates were mostly matched to commercial rates, I believe eBay was only cheaper with flat rates for TRS. But lately, I have noticed that eBay is passing on more of a discount to the TRS for packages shipping by weight.
Although, if you have a good cash back credit card, you can use that to pay for PirateShip shipping.
PirateShip is also nice as you can connect multiple eBay accounts (and a few other platforms) to the same account, and print off all your shipping labels from one login, and get a SCAN form if your Post Office wants those.

Ah well I had a weird bug pop up last night on pirate ship. For some reason my ebay shipping list is including a bunch of items I’ve already shipped. No amount of logging back in or refreshing will remove them.
That’s a pretty crappy bug.
I did save a few more bucks on some shoes though.

I’m finally able to log in again!
I’ve been wanting to post this for awhile regarding PirateShip and cubic rate shipping.PirateShip is best used for international and small, heavier items that qualify for cubic rate priority shipping.
Here is an example of the wonderfulness that is PirateShip.
I just sold a Schlage keypad lock system. The box was small, but weighed 6 pounds. To send this to my Zone 8 customer would have cost $23.81 using regular priority, but since it only measured 9x7x4.5 inches, that put it in the .2 cubic rate category. I paid $8.92.
As you can see, this is a huge cost savings. I strongly recommend that you measure your boxes and consider cubic rate for your shipping!

I tried Pirate Ship for the first time yesterday. I did very well with a pair of jeans in a polymailer going across country because of cubic shipping. Everything else was pretty much the same as eBay, except that I didn’t get my top rated seller discount for the items sent Priority mail. Overall, though, the one cubic ship discount was much better than the top rated seller discount.
My thought is to get to know better what items will benefit from their cubic shipping and only use Pirate Ship for that.
My question is the scan sheet. Can I print out a scan sheet on Pirate Ship that would include the items for that day on eBay? Conversely, can I print out a scan sheet on eBay that would incorporate the shipping purchased through Pirate Ship?

The pirate ship scan sheet will only include the items you purchased on pirate ship.

You will have to use 2 SCAN sheets I believe. The only exception that I’ve seen is when I was testing out shipping services. If I used 2 different services the same day and both used the stamps.com backend, all the packages would come up on the same SCAN sheet.
