This is a quote from Griff, from the weekly ebay for business podcast
“Two things: First, because of the Labor Day holiday next Monday, our next episode will drop on Wednesday, Sep 4th instead of the usual Tuesday…..
Now pay attention sellers: And remember, you heard it here first! Next Wednesday, Sep 4th is the date of the next eBay Seller Update, otherwise known as the Fall Seller Update! So, next Wednesday, Sept 4th, watch your emails and the announcement board for details.”

Can’t wait for all the bugs that will jack up my store that ebay will claim don’t exist… -

Fingers crossed for details on the revised seller protections, which I believe were INAD/feedback removal based on your “reputation.” Can’t recall where I saw that – maybe out of eBay Open?
Also assuming some clarity on Managed Payments.

Tomorrow’s Weekly Chat is about Seller Protection…if you have questions, might be a good place to ask them.

My dream announcement for the 4th: Unlimited fixed price listings, 2,000 free auctions for $400 a month!
Most likely my reality: $400 for 10,000 fixed price listings, no more free mailing supplies to better serve our customers, increased final value fees!:'(

Do you expect a change in subscription pricing?

Do the tea leaves tell you anything big coming our way? Seemed eBay Open had a lot of positive changes, but maybe they didnt want to announce changes that will make life hard for us.

Hi Jay, I didn’t get to eBay Open this year, so if hints were given, I wasn’t there for them. I really have no idea what to expect. I do NOT expect a subscription change, but we can always hope….
I’m just hoping whatever they release, that it goes into effect pretty quickly, and not in October or November….we are awfully close to Q4….

Best change IMO is the removal of duplicated promoted and non-promoted listings in search. Looks way cleaner.

Agreed. It’s always annoying to see duplicated listings. Makes eBay look amateur.
What other changes do people like? I’m very interested to hear how the “employee access” works now that it’s hopefully maturing.

All of my items have promoted listing enabled. When I look at my Paid & shipped page, about 1/3 show the tag “Sold via promoted listings”.
It just hit me today that if eBay is only going to show my Promoted listings, I will be paying the fee on all sales. While it is good to eliminate the duplicates, the net for eBay is increased fees, over $100 for August in my case.
Will I sell more because of the lack of duplicates? Hard to ever know that for sure.

Yeah, there’s a hypothesis that Promoted Listings are just a money grab by eBay. Another way to scrape $ for a sale.
But it is voluntary. You could try removing promoted Listings and see how your sales go.

No outright fee increases, other than “Increased visibility for Promoted Listings in search results.” I’ll continue to have 0% of my listings with 0% promotions and see how it goes.
What I have found to be really annoying is searching for items by low—>high price. Sponsored listings mixed in will be 5x or 6x the amount of the lowest items I’m looking at, temporarily startling me every time until I realize they’re promoted listings and not some huge gap from 1 or 2 cheaper listings to a much higher price. I can only imagine how much they annoy buyers.
That’s sort of cool they’re integrating Terapeak in with Ebay, but I wish they would create a separate app for it. I just tried to look up an item on Terapeak in Ebay and it took a little longer than the separate Terapeak website. Hopefully it will get more speedy eventually. I only just realized the other day that WorthPoint has its own app and it pulls up results much faster. I’ve just been using the web version for years.

they’re integrating Terapeak in with Ebay
How will the Terrapeak integration work? I just think they should expand the eBay search to more than the past 30 days. Just give normal search a longer historical search.

Now you can access Terapeak, an eBay insights tool, in Seller Hub
Terapeak, an exclusive eBay insights tool, is now available in Seller Hub under the “Research” tab, previously called the “Growth” tab. Terapeak uses recent eBay supply, demand, and pricing data to help you determine what to sell, when to sell it, and at what price.Terapeak features are being implemented in Seller Hub so you will no longer need to leave eBay.com to use the tool. Over time, all Terapeak research functionality will be integrated into Seller Hub, along with new insights tools and features, and Terapeak.com will no longer be available. We will alert you in advance of the change. In the interim, you can still access Terapeak.com. We encourage you to use Terapeak in Seller Hub before the change.

I saw something come up in the eBay for Business user account on Facebook. It provides a bit more detail on one of the announcements in the fall seller update. I found it interesting.
We’ve expanded our “Offers to Buyers” tool! Now, not only can you send an offer to a watcher, but you can also send an offer to someone who has added your item to their cart but it’s been sitting there unpurchased for up to 5 days. And in October, you and that potential buyer will also be able to counter-offer. So many new ways to close that sale – just in time for holiday!

I still get 2 eBay emails Monday morning, one to send offers to watchers and the other to buyers with my items in their cart. I wonder when those emails will stop if this other function is doing the same thing.

Im glad eBay is figuring out more ways to connect buyers and sellers. Makes me realize that eBay is all about “making deals” because eBay sellers usually have huge margins to negotiate with.
This is different from Amazon where sellers usually start selling with paper thin margins just to compete.
