Are we expecting any big changes? I feel we’ve had a good run the last 18 months without any break in the Force

I don’t know….I imagine we’ll have some category/item specific changes…other than that…it’s anybody’s guess! Maybe something on videos in listings, now that they are finally rolling that out?

They are overhauling the listing process. Have you guys been asked to switch yet? Right now it’s in beta. The plan, is to make the listing experience the same between the phone and the desktop.
And yes videos in listings is coming. I tried it and got VERY frustrated as their algorithm automatically declined almost everything I tried to post. Hopefully they get the bugs worked out of it.

We haven’t been asked. Do you like the new listing experience (other than video?)

No. I tried the beta for less than a day early last year, I think it was, and quickly switched back. I thought it was awful. To fit everything on a phone they hid all the data inputs on pull-down menus on multiple pages, IIRC. So it took me twice as long to create a listing on a desktop than it previously did when everything was on one page. I did not try a video. I’m not a fan unless you need to show something operating. It’s just one more thing to distract buyers from actually reading the description and condition, not to mention the extra time it takes to make one.

I tried a video…it was “under review” for TEN DAYS before I finally asked for help from Customer Service and got it put up. So, yeah, the video in listings feature needs work….(ebay’s help pages states it can take up to 48 hours, and, in exceptional cases, up to 7 days).

The new listing flow—I think they refer to it as the new unified listing flow—is currently the only way to use the video feature. I’ve seen complaints about the listing flow, but I had no problem with it…other than the ten day video…

I think I’m ready to use it because the traditional listing method is broken if you list on computer, then photograph and start listing on iphone. I’ve brought it up to ebay for business and regular support and it’s never been fixed.
All line breaks are deleted in the item description when I go from PC to iphone. I have to go in an manually place them back on listings.

A number of things in the Update, some good, but what really stands out to me—as someone who uses Promoted Listings Standard—is a huge change to how fees are calculated:

Change to Promoted Listings Standard ad fee calculation methodology

On June 1, 2022, the Promoted Listings Standard ad fee calculation will change to align more closely with how we calculate final value fees. Specifically, the ad fee will be calculated in all markets based on the total amount of the sale for each attributed sale, using the same basis we use to calculate final value fees (including applicable taxes, shipping and other applicable fees described here). Currently, in certain markets including the US, the Promoted Listings Standard ad rate applies only to the final price of the item. Here’s a quick example of what this means:
PLS at 5% rate.
Today: Sell item for $100 plus $40 postage and $6 sales tax= PLS fee is $5.00 (calculated on item price of $100)
June 1st: Sell item for $100 plus $40 postage and $6 sales tax= PLS fee is $7.30 (calculated on total price of $146.00)
Conclusion: With this simple change, ebay can dramatically increase its take rate and revenue, while at the same time reducing my profit margin.

Before July 2021, I carefully chose what got promoted and at what rate. In July 2021, I universally promoted my listings at a fixed rate and saw a huge, almost immediate boost in sales that has remained consistent through this year. Approx. 75% of my sales are now via Promoted Listings.
Hopefully we can crowdsource some stats here on the forum and see what’s up before the change happens. I’m promoting everything at 3% I believe – maybe I’ll try 1%?
