Steve – I keep up with your sales in eBay, and I was certain that you had shut down your store for a few days. I know that you try to sell the higher end stuff, but I’m surprised that you went that many days without a sale. eBay can be a weird place.
Right before Christmas, I listed this sequined blazer given to me for free. This is probably an item I should have listed in the fall so that it would be ready for the holidays, but it sold on Jan 3 for $24.
I mention this one friend of my parents (Ed) quite a bit because he really has given me (for free) several great items over the years to sell. I pick up his stuff when I visit my parents in Florida. I’ve got a few to talk about that have sold in the past two weeks. This is the last of the slide organization boxes he gave me. This one is a double-decker and sold for $36.71.
Here’s the biggie. I know about Heathkit sets from some of Steve’s videos. Ed had put together one in the 1960s. He wasn’t sure that it was worth much, but I knew. I listed the set in November, and the listing was racking up the views and watchers. I put them up unrealistically high for negotiation “clout”. I saw one sold in the past year for $209, but I had the original manuals. I also uploaded a video showing it working (although I listed it for parts). I got an offer for $185, which I countered with $240. The buyer declined. Apparently, he had a change of heart and offered $245 (I’m sure he forgot my original counter offer was $5 less). They are now back in Florida. I’m not Steve, so it has been a while since I’ve had a large sale like this.
This dental control box was a death pile item I had sitting around for well over a year. It came in a box of dental and denture related stuff. I had no way to test it, and I wasn’t sure what to do with it. I started this year with a challenge to list electronics. I listed it for parts, and it sold within a day for $53 and cost $24 to have it shipped to CA. I probably could have gotten more, but who knows with something like this?
