I have several hundred 1960s promotional Kodak transparencies and thought they would be the perfect item for instagram,
I started a feed 2 days ago and have already sold for of them.
Currently I have link in the instagram bio that sends people back to my store. But if the feed continues to add followers, I am consider selling directly on the platform. Has anyone else used Instagram as a direct selling platform? Thoughts? Pitfalls?
check it out the Instagram Feed here –

If ya’l wouldn’t mind could you click through on the link the bio to the eBay store? I’m trying to test the link and see if the counter I installed is working.

Link works for me. Thats cool that you only have 37 followers but have already sold four of them. Though can you be sure all four sales came from instagram? Sales could have come from eBay search, no?

I checked it out. Looks great and the link works. Good Luck with your sales. I have not tried to sell on IG, but I have on FB. I still prefer eBay but I appreciate your blazing the trail and look forward to others sharing their experiences.
Peace

@jay – yeah I have no idea where the sales came from.
I think there are people who have saved searches for their favorite celebrities but whether they are on eBay or IG (or both) I don’t know.
Thats why I want to test that link. In theory I should be able to get data on how may clicks pass through the site and from where.
However, the great thing about the feed is it helps me figure out who the hell the actors are. I have no idea half the time!

Link worked this side of the pond. The guitarist who’s with the lady in the kaftan and the black cat is Jerry Garcia.

I did that @Reto Treasures thats why I am asking all on this group to click through on the link in Instagram.
I am surprised by the lack of clicks on the link in the bio. I’m wondering if because Instagram has it’s own browser, the tracking mechanism is blunted.

Reports are updated each night – so if I get a bunch of clicks in the same day, I’ll know if it’s working.

Thanks for the clicks, team. It looks like it works. I don’t think the eBay partner network (in conjunction with Instagram) will be too lucrative because the user needs to complete the transaction on the same browser as the link. Instagram keeps the user inside their browser and does not send people to the eBay app, but we shall see! I’ll keep reporting back.
My theory is that people who collect photographs from the 1960s are cellphone Luddites and probably purchase more on their computers.
Filing this under “it can’t hurt,” and it’s a fun experiment.
Does anyone else in the group have an Instagram feed?
If so, please post here.

Thanks @mycottage. The pile gets crazier the deeper I get into it. The balancing act with Instagram using it as a promotional tool instead of an ego boost. All those likes and follows are fun, but if they don’t translate into $$ – whats the point?
