2 good weeks in a row!  I’m thrilled.  Like you Jay, usually the holiday season is only okay for us since we don’t sell new items, hoping this year it stays steady since we had such a dismal fall selling season.  No auctions this week, but hit a couple thrift stores.  We do so much better at an auction.  The thrift stores are pricing their items so high here that it’s hard to catch a good deal for resale…but it’s fun to keep trying to find something they’ve missed:)  Lots of death piles, I could quit sourcing for months.  But, sourcing keeps me motivated to list…it’s a big circle.

My gross was about the same as Jay/Ryanne but net was higher due to clearing out old stock with cheap or no buy cost.

I’m running a 30% sale this week next week 40%.  Trying to start the New Year with some fresh inventory!

Nice week with 2 big sales. Got lots of work done today to prep for a lot of listing (for me) next week. Photographed the end of a consignment lot of Hockey programs for a friend of mine and got drafts at least started for all of my random items that I decided to list after unpacking them. Have about 150 items ready to list. That will put me about 100 short of my goal of 2000 items for the year. Not too bad considering I moved in September.

Hope everyone has a wonderful Turkey day with those they love and enjoys the long weekend. I know I will.

Gut Sales Report for the week: Strong busy season sales with a lot of high dollar items selling again.

Focus for the week : Storage unit is now fairly organized and most of my containers that I wanted to move are there.

Scavenge of the week: Holy ephemera overload Batman! I went back to that packed estate sale with the car brochures. I bought 70 more of them for $1 each. I bought 30 more vintage maps – 4 for $1. I bought a lot of vintage camera and other manuals that I found around the house. So, between this and last time I have this to list: 184 car brochures, 70 vintage maps, and a lot of other ephemera to go through. That will keep me busy for
awhile. Not to mention the 70 new DVD’s \ DVD Box sets that I bought there also.

Thoughts for the week: I went hunting this weekend, so that knocked my listing down. I scavenged some good stuff on my way to hunting and then while I was there, so a very good trip.

I’ve been listing lots of jewelry, which should be good good holiday items even used. Only a few have sold, though. That one frame helped make the week; otherwise, it would have been pitiful (like last week).

I will have an experimental sale starting in two days. I usually restart all my sales at the beginning of the month to end at the last day of the month. The sales I run are for specific categories such as clothing, houseware, art, and so forth and are 15% or 20% depending on the category. I have almost everything ending tomorrow (Nov 23). For Black Friday and the time around it, I will have one big sale starting Nov 24 and ending Nov 30 at 25% off my entire inventory. Let’s see what happens.

A more normal sales week for me. Lots of Christmas selling, and I am getting in the routine of wrapping those darn antique glass ornaments so it isn’t totally annoying now. I have one more box of ornaments and miscellaneous Christmas to sell, not sure if I will get them all listed this year.

I went to a crazy fun estate sale this weekend – a hoarder with money! The house was crammed with stuff – every closet, every drawer, every inch of space was packed – and the house was huge! I got bags of stuff, choosing mostly smalls that are easier to ship. Vintage Garfield and Peanuts collectibles, high-end porcelain pieces, lots of vintage Halloween and Christmas. My best pick from there were 3 Charles Harper framed, signed, numbered prints. I love his work and recognized it instantly (which was good since I couldn’t decipher his signature), so now I get to learn how to box and ship large pieces of art.

Consider using Fedex to pack and\or ship the art work.

I have found that sometimes it makes sense and sometimes it doesn’t.

Just a tip: Take the art to Fedex now and find out how much they will charge for the box and how much to pack. Add that cost to the listing. Then the packing will be paid for when it sells and it will be a hassle free sale where you can relax.

Much better sales this week. Saved by two big sales. A $300 bose radio and a $100 christmas piano music box. The music box is pretty cool. It is a grand piano that has moving keys and has interchangeable music plates. I had to take it apart and replace the drive belt for the keys. Alot of them listed has the keys that don’t work because the rubber belt rots over time.

Just wrapped up a two week “time away” setting. The volume of messages I’ve got the last two days from buyers wanting to know if I’ve shipped….ughhhh. So annoying. Much like descriptions, I don’t think most buyers read the auto emails during time away or the expected delivery dates.

In other news, it’s been a long road but I go back to my day job next week. I’m incredibly thankful that I had short term disability, as well as a well funded HSA account.

I finally got the hospital bill for my month long stay, half of which was in the ICU – $176000! It’s not too bad though, I just have to pay $3700 after meeting our family deductible.

Very busy and challenging life outside Ebay.  My 15 year old highly creative daughter likes to go to the thrift store occasionally now and she wanted to help take photos for me.  She did a great job, had fun picking out the background paper, and added graphics to show a chip.  Some potential but I don’t think her interest will last.  Still cool that she got to see the process from start to finish. The item sold very quickly. She would like the entire profit as compensation, I suggested a Starbucks hourly rate, and we haven’t settled up yet.  lol

Can someone tell me if there has been information from Ebay about tax reporting with managed payments?  Unfortunately I snoozed on getting EZ auction tracker and will have a lot of work to do, though I’m hoping Ebay reports the net profit.  When Ebay has just paid, my shipping comes from Paypal.  I’ve got to get up to speed on this. My sales will be lower this year but still a pain.

Not a horrible week of sales, but was a little disappointed that they dropped from the previous two weeks.  Just a bit above my average weekly for this year.  Only about a 1/3 the sales I did this week last year.  Onwards and upwards.

My best sale of the week was $95 for a set of cool toy pistols with holster from the 1950’s.  Got these out of an online auction lot that included a bunch of vintage toys.  The rest were average bread and butter sales mostly, about half Christmas items.

Spent almost a full day pricing out bids for an online auction that had some great items.  I placed a lot of bids and ended up with 5 lots of great items including art deco light fixtures, mid century toys and a very cool B-1 Lemon Lime Soda tin advertising thermometer.  I picked them up on Saturday and already listed 4 out of the 5 this week.
