Hi. I’ve never done a USPS claim before for a lost item (shipped 12/11/20 and no movement since 12/22/20 – Priority Mail). I’m a top rated seller so should have $100 insurance on the package (the item cost $150 but I forgot to add the extra insurance – lesson for next time). Do I initiate the claim through eBay somehow or through the usps website? I’ve looked in both PayPal and eBay and I can’t find any kind of receipt that shows the $100 insurance. Anyone know where I can find that and confirm what documents I need to send in on my claim? Thanks in advance.

In Shipping Labels on my ebay account, the only option available under More Actions is Print a Packing Slip.

You need to go to USPS.com, Help menu, and then File a Claim. Not sure, but they might want you to file a missing package first.

What Sharyn says, and you don’t have to worry about a receipt for the $100 of insurance. I think it gets associated with the tracking number automatically when you purchase the label.

I tried submitting a claim on the usps website. Step 3 is Fees Paid:
“Enter the total fees paid for this package and upload proof that it was insured.”
Any idea where I can find this information?? The box for Step 3 will only accept numbers so I can’t even put in that fees were paid by ebay.

Yes, this is something that is frustrating with eBay. I buy my labels using the bulk shipping page, so all the label costs get combined into one price. If you buy your labels one at a time, you can find the email for when you bought the label off eBay.
If you can’t find it, do you remember the dimensions and weight of the box you shipped? You can put that information into eBay’s shipping calculator with your and your buyer’s zip codes, and then you will have what the cost would have been.

Then, print out the tracking information into a PDF file. The fact that it shows a package sent priority mail means that it was insured. I suggest using the USPS tracking rather than what you see on eBay. Just cut and past the tracking information into goggle, click track package, then “View details on USPS”. The tracking information there is the most detailed, and the product information will say that it was sent priority.

I don’t use bulk labels so I’m unsure this will help, but on any of the pages under Orders in Seller Hub there is a link entitled Shipping Labels on the left. If you click that, aren’t you able to retrieve the detailed shipping information for individual orders by item number going back 90 days?

Thanks everybody! Got it figured out and received my check from the USPS yesterday! I always imagined making a claim through the post office would take a really long time to process so I was pleasantly surprised!
