Hello all, this is Peter (pkflipper) from Goodyear, Arizona. I am a retired VP of Product Marketing, formerly from the industrial electronics industry (electronic test equipment). I’ve been an eBay member since 1998 but officially became a flipper over the last year. I am mostly sourcing from Goodwill and other thrift stores, garage sales, and antique stores. Did the bins once, too crazy for me. My sweet spot is for electronics but I’ll sell anything. If you take a look at my eBay store you’ll see what I mean. Haven’t cracked the clothing/shoes thing yet but don’t think I’ll ever do much in that area.
I was out of town for 7 weeks to beat the Phoenix-area heat and have done a ton of sourcing where I’m staying, it’s been a real honey-hole here. It will take a couple of weeks to catch up with listing my finds.
Anyway, my hats off to the site owners for creating this forum and look forward to being an active participant.

Welcome. Store looks good. I obviously love the variety of items. Sell anything and everything!
Since you’re retired, are you selling more for fun (and extra money)? Or is an online store part of your retirement plan?

@jay, I’m flipping for fun and to supplement my retirement income. I’ve been buying and selling on eBay for years. As a drummer, I’ve bought and sold a lot as many hobbyist musicians do. In the last couple of years I’ve sold quite a bit of my personal collection of drum stuff, vintage radios and pottery. Also, I’ve always had a fondness for shopping at thrift and antique stores as well as general junk collecting. When I saw how easy it was for me to list and sell stuff I already owned, I decided to source for the purpose of flipping as a serious hobby. It’s a natural for me as I’ve done product marketing for decades. Curating product content for descriptions, specifications, images, and copywriting is a natural for me. I love the thrill of the hunt, and making some extra bucks helps pay the bills.

Cool. There’s a whole group of recent retirees that seem to go into online selling instead of stereotypical “playing golf”. Wasn’t sure if US retirement is getting that tough or people just enjoy running businesses on their own.
Ive heard others say that after working for someone else for so long, its nice to make all your own decisions.

Hi Peter!
Welcome to the forum. I used to live in AZ so I get why you’ve been away for 7 weeks to beat the heat 🙂
Jay, as a retiree, selling online for me is a fun hobby. I guess because never learned how to play golf. When I was younger we worked 6 and a half days a week and I never had time for golf. But the good thing about all that work is that already have a Tesla, so eBay isn’t about the $ for me. And thank goodness for that, I can’t imagine myself ever making enough to live off via eBay. My hat’s off to you and Ryanne, you 2 have really made eBay work for you!
P.S. Hearing you talk about wanting a Tesla in the last episode made me chuckle. You need to just keep telling Ryanne you need a Tesla! I’ve never been into cars and I’m really cheap, but a Tesla is 100% worth every penny!

I respect people who retire and “for fun”sell on eBay. I cant imagine playing golf and just sitting around. But awesome to those who can!!!
We’ll get a Tesla one of these days. I’m waiting several years for the used market to open up.
