I’ve been listening back to old episodes (or maybe it was from this week? they all blend together) and thinking about how many $20-50 items people are just giving away and found a great example
A thrift store near me is closing down. It’s part of a larger organization that also holds church services, community aid, and a food bank and they are taking over the square footage for their thrift store and expanding their other resources. Everything was 25% off, not super thrilling, but today was the first day of the sale so I figured I’d go in. Its dead inside, and I always start at one side of the store and work my way through. Kayley, my wonderful girlfriend who’s growing her scavenger eye, brings up an old GE 4 slice toaster and is like “it’s free. you like these.” What do you mean its free? ” There’s a wall of free stuff. look” and she brings me over to an entire 12 foot stretch of shelves where everything was free. We stocked up on small appliances, some chintz china, other dishware, and other stuff. I have $150 worth of stuff with just the first 3 small appliances I looked up, and theres a whole trunk load to go through.
I wouldn’t be suprised if these shelves are getting refilled as their sale keeps going, so I’ll be swinging by more often until they close. Ended up spending $11 in the store overall, I probably scored around $250 worth of sales to list.
Good day, good day! What was your score this week?

Nice score! Some gave me a Bible, but looks like it will only bring $15.
Always fun when you stumble on a jackpot!

Hey, $15 is $15
Listing stuff now. The toaster is toast (pun intended) so the office is being aired out and hopefully we have some jackpots with the rest of it, lol.

My best recent free score was a black watch plaid Pendleton wool shirt in great condition. Free pile at the side of the road. My best recent score overall was a cobalt blue Heath teapot for $30.

I had no idea about heath teapots! That is crazy ROI. And free pendleton? Double win

I sold a charger today for $39.95 that I took off an e-waste (aka free) pile at an estate sale a couple of weeks ago.
But my best free flip in the last couple of months was a SONY Walkman WM-D6 (cassette player) that I took from an “Everything is free” yard sale that I walked by randomly in my neighborhood. It didn’t work but sold for $132.95 for the player and $49.95 for the flimsy faux leather case that it came in.

That’s incredible! I’ve never seen a walkman in the wild

Oh . Wow. I have seen a Sony Walkman. And walked right by it. Good to know.
I did not know a teapot could go for $200. ! That’s fabulous! I think I only have 1 teapot. It’s a really nice one too. Don’t think it’s $200. nice, but I do like it. Good luck with those freebies, Lauren. -

Love finding the frees! Live in urban Portland, OR. During COVID lockdown, often at dusk my wife and I (or just me) take quiet walks around the neighborhood. I’ve scored a few things that people have just put out for free. My latest was a combo:
A Revere Ware Coffee Pot: https://www.ebay.com/itm/193525188370 $32.99, just needed a quick wash.
And maybe even better, because of the absurdity, there was an unopened package of vintage disc filters for another coffee maker. Those sold in the last 24 hours for $12.99. https://www.ebay.com/itm/193551571360
So basically $46 of stuff sold because of a walk around the block!
