So, let me just say that I need to rant a bit, it’s not the end of the world and in the end I’m not going to do anything about this. But here’s my rant:
Sold a wallet on eBay recently FOR CHARITY – 100% of the sale goes to support our local humane society. I had it listed at $20, it was a “new without tags” Nike wallet – it had tags on the inside but they were removed from the wallet. It came in a nice tin. He made me an offer of $10, I countered and we settled for $13. He paid shipping to give him a total cost of $20.85. Now all of this he knew up front.
His comment in feedback was that it was “overpriced with shipping”. He has over 1000 feedback, so he buys/sells? a lot on eBay. It just is annoying. He could have returned it (free no hassle returns), he could have contacted me and maybe I would have given him a few bucks back (maybe), he could have said nothing. All money is going to charity (even money that I save because I pay less for shipping).
I have a helper who listed this one for me, and I did realize on this one that I could send first class instead of priority and it would get there early enough – so I did make a few more dollars for charity on shipping than I normally do – but he knew that cost up front and he agreed to it. He didn’t have to agree. He got the item in plenty of time – and it wasn’t damaged.
I’d like to add that I live in Indiana – and for me it’s almost always cheapest to send things via priority (over all but 12 oz or less first class) – so we default to priority for everything. Plus I use priority on everything over $25 just for the insurance aspect.
Thank you. Rant’s over. I’ll let that one go.
Take care all

funny to me when people buy something, agree to the price and the shipping amount and then complain about the price. huh??

eBay sellers are often the worst buyers. Grumpy and obnoxious about getting better shipping.
Thats how we can be unfortunately, but we’d never leave bad feedback.

This is one area where you should easily get feedback removed (I’m assuming it was negative?). eBay is pretty lenient at removing a complaint about the price that the buyer knew ahead of time.
I’ve heard that phone service is back up, but you can also contact eBay for Business on Facebook or use the customer service email address (sorry, don’t know it off the top of my head). Make sure to give them the item number and your username.

He actually left me positive feedback – just a negative comment. I may try to remove it, but for now I’m letting it go. It just annoyed me. I’m also certain it was because I charged him for priority but did first class. I almost never do that, but in this case since he paid so little for the item I didn’t see an issue with it. And it is all going to charity – so I’m not going to be nice and give him anything back now. Had he asked I would have thrown $2 his way. Oh well.

Uh, this would make me angry as a buyer as well. Doesn’t matter if its for charity. You charged him for a service you didnt provide.
He gave you positive feedback so you should feel lucky. I dont think eBay would back you up in this case. I’d let sleeping dogs lie.

lol -no worries – I realize that. I just wish he would have messaged me first. I would have given him a rebate. I honestly forgot about it. He still got the package in 2 days – so it didn’t take longer to ship. And he got $7 off from the start price. And it all goes to charity – none to me (zero). I know eBay won’t back me here – but there is no way I’m throwing money his way now.

I agree with Jay. And I’d go further: pretty sure that’s an ebay rule violation. If you give someone a courtesy upgrade, that’s fine. (Buyer paid for 1st Class, but you ship via Priority). But you can’t downgrade, even if you are confident that the item will get there as quickly.
As a buyer, I wouldn’t be too happy either, because it would feel like I was deliberately cheated in the Make An Offer negotiations….the buyer was willing to pay what he paid based on Priority dollar amount as part of his total. By shipping First Class (at a lesser amount) it ends up looking like you ultimately accepted the offer because you knew you’d make up for it on the shipping.
Just for future reference: I would not do that again. You’re asking for trouble.

Hey gfd_622, I feel your pain. There are some days where you absolutely fall over yourself to be helpful and nice to buyers, and then wonder why you bothered when they (metaphorically) kick your teeth in. I’ve had a couple buyers that have annoyed me too, just lately, but that’s been via email rather than on feedback.
Hang in there, dude. This COVID’s making everyone crazy!

I’ve had a couple of buyers get snippy about handling time, lately. I switched my handling time to 2 days, because that’s what I felt I could safely handle, with a combo of usps pick ups and me dropping off sometimes.
Buyers on day 2: When is this going to shiiiiiiiip?! I neeeeeeeeed it asap!
Um, well, it’s a guitar pedal and you want it shipped to France so it’s not like it’s getting there any time soon, and since there’s this whole pandemic thingy happening, I freakin’ KNOW you aren’t playing a gig anywhere that would require this pedal, so calm the heck down. I can’t imagine you’re going to get faster shipping from Amazon or Sam Ash right now.

I sometimes buy things that I think are too expensive, but I want them anyway for whatever reason – sometimes it’s convenience, sometimes it’s need. Just b/c I agreed to pay the price doesn’t negate my opinion that it’s over-priced. I don’t buy much on ebay, so it doesn’t really apply there, but, for example, lots of people on this forum, including myself, complain about items at thrift stores being overpriced. But I buy some of these items anyway. If I were motivated to leave a yelp review, I would absolutely mention that I thought things were overpriced, and not give a 5-star review. Does this make me unreasonable, a horrible buyer? I don’t think so.
In general, I think some resellers are too easily annoyed by typical consumer/human behavior. This is a waste of time and emotional energy.
