Continuing to have strong sales through the holiday season. This last week I expected to have things fall off, but people are still shopping. Always think that after Christmas sales must be the people buying themselves what they really wanted.
Sold this Victorian era scrapbook cover. I purchased the entire scrapbook at auction for $51. Scrapbook was in really bad shape, pages completely deteriorating from age, but the ephemera inside was still in OK shape, mostly advertising cards and greeting cards from the 1890’s and 1900’s. Have had a great time researching them and it has been quite an education. Cover was separated from the rest so I thought I’d throw it up and see if I’d get any bites. Biggest sale was this 1864 Confederate $500 note. This came with a stack of notes in an envelope in box of ephemera I purchased for $35. By far my best scavenge ever. This one sold for an offer of $400 on a list price of $549.95. http://www.ebay.com/itm/133084346630

Lucas, I used to love a cheap souvenir repro of that Confederate $500 note as a kid! It was kept in my ‘locked’ junk drawer of treasures.
Last week I sold a good bit of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle action figures that my 83 year old mother in law picked for me up north. It was my first smart phone guided pick, trying to contain my excitement when I learned the price for a big lot at a church sale was only $6.00. The figures worked out to about 10 cents each and at the end of the day, all should sell. Even loose, played with, and without weapons and accessories, some good prices were paid for these not too old toys. I did my research, and interesting to note is I almost lot many of them up for much less than I sold them for individually.
Yes, I was worried at first that some of the notes might be fakes, but fortunately they all are the real deal. I did get a forgery of George Washington’s signature in the batch, though. It’s posted for sale on my store.
Those are awesome sales for the figures. I picked up a lot of Thundercats and Masters of the Universe figures over the summer and those have been good sellers also, but I don’t think anything matched your Cave Beast.
Steve – If I remember correctly, Norman is the collie, and Bleu is the other dog (not sure of breed), correct? I love seeing them every week. Happy Birthday to Bleu!
One of my parents’ downsizing friends traveled a great deal when he was working (he is now retired). He accumulated a large number of USAir flatware. I’m not sure whether he grabbed them after a meal, or if they were given out as gifts. One guy purchased three sets from me. For each sale, he waited until I had printed a label before he purchased another set. I don’t know whey he wanted them shipped separately. The still photo of the dogs at the end of the video is beautiful! I hope you save that as a memory. Funny, my dog was asleep in the next room and let out a little yip when the dogs were playing and barking.

I’ve had this tiny bottle of Avon Persian Wood cologne listed for years. It was probably one of my oldest items still listed. I’m so glad it finally found a buyer. I love buying and selling these small parts tool cabinets. I see them somewhat frequently at yard sales and can usually get them for no more than a few bucks. They take some time to sell, but I was able to get $60 for this one. Here’s my big sale of the week. It’s a USO cartoon map of Hawaii designed by famous illustrator Ruth Taylor White. I acquired this along with a whole suitcase of WW2 ephemera for $70 (a bit steep but I’ve made 4x my money back already). If it wasn’t for doing vigilant research and finding one past sold, I would have just listed this for $15 and called it a day.
